I found this video roughly a year ago when I was first starting to work on Ondine and it's been so helpful! It's taken me 20 years to get to the point where I can even attempt to learn this piece, but now after a year of regular practice I can finally play it all the way through at least reasonably well, despite a couple of sections where I have to slow things down a bit still but I'll get to full tempo on those sections in another month or so at the rate I'm going. Thanks for making this video (and also the second video too).

I heard Teddy's story on BBC Outlook and had to know more. In the process I found this video and was bowled over by the young Kenyans--their passion for and devotion to their chosen instruments, and to music. And inspiring more youngsters to dream. Thanks, Cordelia, for your part in the process!

So many gems for practising were dropped here. I have had lots of tension trying to apply the voicing to my fingerings, as in keeping the hands separate for voicing except where written, and I didn't think to let the other hand play some of the harder to reach notes, which help SO MUCH to reduce the tension. The tip for practising transitions between phrases was super useful as well (I am at times guilty of playing blockishly). Finally, the explanations behind your interpretation really helped me to appreciate the score much more, even when I interpreted some parts differently. Thank you so much, Cordelia. I'm honoured to have learnt from you. SUBSCRIBED!

Thanks for sharing the importance of this. I find I even get this in scales too, irrespective of the key, because I always hear scales in the music I play and love so it's become easy to feel that about the scales themselves.

Very, very beautiful playing Cordelia. I loved the tempo you took it at, especially the 3rd movement where restraint is absolutely required. For me that 3rd movement along with the Liszt Benediction are among a handful of pieces that are the most beautiful things written for the piano. Wonderful playing.

Cordelia, these videos are so inspiring. They just might help me get through the most difficult sections I've yet to conquer. It has taken me 45 years to realize this is the greatest piano piece ever written. Just my opinion. All 3 movements are of sublime beauty. The difficulties are immense especially if you have small to average hands. I love it so. It is so wonderful to experience exceptional pianists like yourself struggle with these difficulties too until you "slay the dragon". :) Thank You Cordelia as I so enjoyed your musical journey.

I actually can't remember now! I think it's OK to learn in sections but important to get a sense of the overall structure before you start jumping around, so the shape of it is integrated into your learning. Sometimes I also learn in sections backwards, so the last chunk, then the last two chunks, then the last three chunks etc. Good to have the end really secure. Good luck!

Back in my student years I fell in love with this piece, but I felt it was out of my league technically. Life took me in different directions after studies, and it's only the last couple of years I've had the time and motivation to practice more seriously and add more to my repertoire. These videos have helped so much and now I feel like I might actually be able to play this properly. What a dream! Thank you so much <3

I was there too (can actually see myself I think in this video lol). I've seen a few of the great pianists in live performance over the years and can honestly say Williams is right up there with the finest you are likely to hear. I love her clarity of touch, thoughtful articulation of every note, richness of interpretation, power and extraordinary delicacy...one could go on but my recommendation would be just go to one of her concerts and hear for yourself.
