While waiting for my train home on 9/8/2024, I was lucky enough to catch L010 finishing up after working in Framingham. When my outbound arrived, it happened to have the doubleheader that had been floating around the system.

Summertime Conway Scenic Trains on the Bartlett Line
R u taking pictures as the train passes
Yeah that's my shutter in the background lol
So when are they going to stop having trains from the franklin line on the fairmont line during saturday and sundays
It's likely permanent or semipermanent, it's part of getting higher frequencies on the Fairmount which will eventually blossom into running electric trains down that line
I have an actual railroad question. Why does Amtrak have 2 locomotive on the lake shore limited when they only use four coaches.
More coaches are added in Albany, and having two locomotives allows backup in case one breaks down en route
Nice!
Looks more like an Amtrak Subway station from this shot or am I tripping lol
A lot of back bay is underground so I can see why you would think that
@@CPForgeProductionsI know I was just joking it’s called a joke

Hi
Hi control point donelson
Blud thought he wouldn’t be late for sure if he added more locomotives
He was actually 20 minutes early
Readville MENTIONED!?
In a few years when another person sees this video, they will wonder why anyone watched the whole thing.
I sure hope not - it seems more likely to me that someone will watch this and wonder why we let our transit look like this
Green
Why do they have that stupid fence
They're going to build a high level platform there
Is there a construction date? Also, thank you for the info.I did not know that @@CPForgeProductions
@@MC_E_Music not sure when it'll be finished, but I'm in Franklin frequently so I'll continue posting updates
Mini high soon!
Yessir! Can't wait!
Just a heads up, 1859 entered service two and a half weeks ago. 883, 884 and 1864, 1865 delivered on the afternoon of 06/19/24. 885, 886 and 1866, 1867 will arrive next month, followed by 1868, 1869 and 1870 in mid-August, once those three cab cars are delivered, the full order will finally be completed. By December 2024, all 83 new Rotems should be in service. 1860 will be next to enter service sometime next week, followed by 1861 in early July.
Do you know anything about 1832,1833 and their trailers? I don’t think they’ve ever been in service but i’ve seen videos of them in Massachusetts.
No, I don’t know why those four haven’t entered service yet. They have been listed as in testing since delivery in the fall of 2022. 1830, 1831 and 849, 850 entered service in mid-April 2023, then they just skipped to 1834 and 853. I wonder if 1832, 1833 and 851, 852 will ever enter service also.
@@ericschwartz3559 I’ve seen 1834 on the NEC before, I don’t even remember it testing.
I was one station before you lol, I was at west natick
Nice, everyone was out for this thing lol

Passing track shenanigans
That probably came from Worcester because to me it seems like the Worcester Line gets new stuff first for the south side
Now that the Comets are almost retired, the new stuff is pretty evenly distributed
@CPForgeProductions Oh ok. I live in Connecticut so when I do take the commuter rail I take the Worcester Line because it's the closest to Connecticut otherwise I take the D branch of the Green Line from Newton
Can’t wait to hear that m5 irl
It's a beautiful sound
@@CPForgeProductions yea I love the m3’s as is.
those speakers do not sound good at all
you were allowed in? lucky
It was part of Railcamp, we were with Amtrak the first two days and got to see a bunch of rare stuff
Great video well done! High quality content!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
Also why is half of the train catenaries pantographs faced either South or Northbound but the tail end A/B multiple unit cars forward opposite. Looks like Arrow III’s where it doesn’t matter how the trains are turned around
I'm not sure why they're like that, Metro North isn't my main area of expertise but but M8s aren't bound to a set configuration, Ive seen some interesting sets in my little time on the territory
A video was shown. This is a gap due to the non-installation of catenary through a draw bridge. Before and after the section of draw, there’s a twilight zone, since it can’t lift the catenary with the rails, so the trains have to coast. They coast entirely through this gap, and catenary lowers or raises based on catenary height, reattaching to power, in which you can continue controlling. You can only coast between. However unlike Kawasaki M8’s as stated in Cos Cob, Amtrak has one pantograph. You’re forced to coast and not mess with the power, so unlike having 4-8 pantographs (8-12 cars), Amtrak can’t afford to mess up this floating coast move with no wires, or they will screw up their own power. They must follow all coast instructions and not screw up, or soon they’ll be stuck in the center with no catenary, or mess up future start up ability when reconnected. M8’s have a chance thanks to them being EMU.
Yeah, it's definitely harder for Amtrak. I was hoping to get a video of them going over, but missed them by a minute. I stopped here on my way up from New Jersey after seeing another video about this.
I have a question why are the trains configured in that way and the second part is I have an observation the hsp46 locomotives are starting to show age
Bilevel directly behind the locomotive is for ADA compliance, which allows boarding at hi-level platforms. The bilevel cabcars are the only cabcars that can operate on the Southside trains due to cab signals, safety systems, etc. The Comet cars are often used off-peak since they don't need the capacity of a full bilevel consist. And yeah, the HSP46s are almost exactly 10 years old (entered service April 16, 2014) and they are starting to show it.
Appreciate the feedback @@CPForgeProductions
Love the camera angle on this video
Thanks!
