If you have any kind of vents on the bottom of the laptop, then a laptop stand will perform better than a cooling pad. As the cooling pad has mesh which partly blocks the laptop's bottom vents.

A laptop stand gives better thermal performance than a typical cooling pad. Those side vents are air exhaust vents, and the intake vents are on the bottom of the laptop. If your gaming sessions are more than 2-3 hours per day, you should clean your laptop fans and change the thermal paste every 6-8 months. 2 days ago I changed the thermal paste and cleaned the fans and vents and believe me there was a significant drop in temperature and the laptop's performance improved.

Most gaming laptops have air outlet vents at the back or sides and air intake vents are at the bottom of the laptop. Check your laptop vents again for any kind of misunderstanding. Even in the TUF F15 advertisement they show air intake vents at the bottom. IDK how you're saying that.

If your laptop's screen has Anti-Glare (matt) film,, then I recommend you Not to use any tempered or screen guard, as it will make it glossy & light from behind will reflect on the screen, and its glue may damage the Anti-Glare film. If you have a glossy screen then you can use a tempered or screen guard.

Acer Nitro 5 has 8000 rpm of fan speed it's stupid to get cooling pad for it, Get a laptop stand instead

I would suggest you to buy a laptop stand it'll help in keeping your laptop cool. Try to use fps caps it will limit the amount of extra fps which will help you in maintaining your laptop's thermals, try 60 or 70 fps caps.

Go to NVIDIA control panel < Manage 3D settings < Program settings < Select a program to customize < Select (Your Game) < Scroll down to Max Frame Rate and set it to 70 Fps. I hope that helps 🤗
