Half-Life Alyx - Pulse SMG - Full Prop Build
In this video I'm building a realistic replica of the Pulse SMG from Half-Life Alyx. The game left such an impression on me I had to make something real from this world.

- Brass crafting rods
- Ballpoint pen spring
- Scrap bolts, window calk (for weight)
- Scrap wires
- 1 mm sheet steel
- JB Weld
- Super glue
- Hot glue
- Bondo glazing putty
- SEM self etching primer
- EuroSpray 1k High Build primer
- MNT matte black paint, synthetic varnish
- Rust-oleum satin stone gray paint
- Ace "machine implement blue gloss" paint
- UNI "posca" matte black paint pen, various sharpies
- Blue painters tape
- Auto-body masking and gaffer tape
- Inkjet transparency sheets
- Screen printing supplies
- Golden "high flow" acrylic paint (black)
- Every kind of sandpaper in the shop
The large parts were printed on an Ender 5 Plus, 0.8 mm nozzle with 0.32 mm layer heights. Small parts were printed on an Ultimaker 2 with 0.1 mm layers.
Some details were screen printed using tiny 3d printed screen frames. Might do a video on this process in the future if there's interest.

This motor came with a sailboat we purchased and needed some love. Took care of the basics and it runs great now. I love how quiet it is.

What is the name of the screw that connects to the brake lever? My child crashed, and it got broken.
Hey, I just bought a razor MX 350 off of Facebook marketplace and it seems to be that when I lift the back end up the tire spins fine and the throttle works.except there is some little noise, I think it's from the chain but other than that it's fine but whenever I go to Drive it/ sit on it, it doesn't move and I know I'm not over the weight limit because I'm about 110 pounds. Do you have an idea on what it would be?
I upgraded my kids MX350s with 2 12v 10ah batteries from lifeP04. I also upgraded the control box and throttle with what you show. Now the bikes are shutting down and smell like something is burning. Do you know what could be wrong?

Not sure. Probably just under, but you risk melting your motor.

I modded my daughter's powerwheel quad years ago to accept dewalt drill batteries. Would like to do something similar to my grandsons mx350. I like the snap in batteries for power tools like the trimmers and mowers. Gonna research
There's some vids here on UA-cam that has done this. There's a kid that removed the controller and just hooked up a Milwaukee 18v batter straight.

Just wondering if your break pedal serves as a motor shut off switch and if so where did you get that!
The brake pedal was 3d printed, fitted over aluminum reinforcement. It has a magnet glued to the back that is detected by a hall sensor mounted to the frame. The controller uses this for regen braking.
Do you still use the factory charger?
If you switch to lithium, do you have to change the charger and controller of can you keep the original? Thank you for your help

Just search 24v lipo4. Take a tape measure, measure the space you have, and find a 24v lipo4 that will fit. Same thing on any ebike/scooter/4 wheeler. Make sure you get as many AH as you can afford/fit.😊😊😊
Wouldn’t it be great if Razor just made them like this so parents didn’t have to modify them? 30min of run time is pretty lame…
For anyone interested even though they claim 30 minutes run time. My 6 year old oversized son has been getting a steady 90 minutes run time on a full charge.

No, you'll break it.
You can do it. But with a new controller.
How you connected the battery did you used the same harness with the fuse?
I know I reused the Anderson connector that came with it and either added a fuse or kept the inline one - either way you want a fuse 😅

Thanks, but unfortunately I don't have time and the logistics would be overwhelming. You could tackle a simpler version with a slightly smaller battery without the need to modify the body shell as much and it would be a lot easier.

Nice work! Have you ever installed a battery life indicator to a razor scooter with lithium batteries? Would love to see a video on that.
The twist throttle includes a battery charge level indicator that works fairly well.

I’m the market to get my son a dirt bike. Torn between spending 2000$ on a gas dirt bike or buying a brand new razor and going this route with the upgraded battery and such
There are tons of good commercial options that are turn-key, gas or electric. It's more if you WANT a project. Sometimes it ends up costing more to go custom. Depending on how old your son is and if he'd enjoy learning and doing the project with you it can be a fun route.

Yes! Fuse is your friend.
