So I notice a few people are ending up here from the youtube search. I don't want to confuse people so FYI Excel has no native regular expression formula support so you have to create your own custom function in VBA. The function I used in this example is from this page analystcave.com/excel-regex-tutorial/ which works well. The alternative is to use google sheets which does have regular expression support "out of the box" support.google.com/docs/answer/3098244?hl=en
