Fossils 4x4 Adventures ,Beachport to Robe along the beach
Andrea and I, Brother Don in his Dmax tackle the track between Beachport and Robe. It's mainly along the beach with tracks going slightly inland over sand hills to dodge rocky outcrops. If the tides right in you have a chance to leave the beach also.
We thoroughly enjoyed a day driving between these two towns and would recommend it to anyone with a capable 4x4.
Great scenery. Some challenging parts, but on the whole really good 4x4 track.

      You have to apply to the APY council . They will give you a form to fill out. They will then review your application and let you know.. It is very hard to get in there. You have to be doing something specific or know someone or both. We lived there for years and my brother being a minister went in as a guest doing bible studies.Good luck though lovely place to visit.

    Looks great! Ive got a supapeg 180 awning but eyeing off this one (freestanding 180). I noticed you used 4 poles in your setup, do you think all 4 are needed in adverse weather? Part of me looking into the freestanding was to avoid having so many poles (e.g. just 2 middle ones would be ideal) And did you make it so the poles clip back up? Or did the awning come that way

    • @lachlanelliott7676
      @lachlanelliott7676 8 місяців тому

      I mounted two poles on permanently and they swing up into clips. Works a treat. When the poles are down I just drill the pegs into their feet. No Guy ropes. You could get away with just the two center ones , I just put the outer ones up for extra strength. As I said before a pole less awning puts a huge pressure on the mounting points and it doesn't matter what brand of awning you have.

    Hi David The Ranger is an extra cab with a 2100mm aluminum tray. The suspension was updated to accommodate the extra wait. Before the upgrade it would sway when doing speeds over 90 km. Driving on cambered tracks and inclines is quite OK. You will find it is not too top heavy. Most of the weight is down low. You will find the 79 cruiser's suspension will have to be up dated as well. Doesn't take too much weight on the back of them also to lift the nose.

  • @spudboy1328
    @spudboy1328 11 місяців тому

    Is the Tailgate camper on the extra cab a 2000mm model, or a 2100mm model? How do you go driving on cambered tracks (i.e. does it feel unstable or top heavy)? Am considering buying one for an extra cab, but worried it might be at the upper limit of weight carrying on a relatively smaller Ranger/Hilux platform, compared to a 79 cruiser ute. Thanks - David
