    What ever cactus gets seeded is the mother. Both can seed.

      Euthorbia obesa aren't cacti,there wrong classified as that but they are just succulents

      @@nemesis8626 You’re absolutely correct - euphorbia are not cacti, they are succulents (but cacti are also succulents). This can be confusing for the uninitiated, so thanks for pointing it out 😊

    Thanks for your video. I recently bought an Obesa, it was love at first sight. I'm wondering how you can tell if the plant is male or female?

    • @Plantnerd
      @Plantnerd 10 місяців тому

      Hi, I’m glad you liked the video. In my experience it’s impossible to tell what sex the plant is until they flower, then they are quite distinct. Hopefully yours will flower soon - let us know what you find!

      Thank you 🙏 I find that with these types of plant, if you leave their stems growing below soil level for a few years, they swell more than if they’re exposed too soon.

    How often do you water them at that size?

    • @Plantnerd
      @Plantnerd 10 місяців тому

      At this size I keep them very well watered during the warm growing months - especially as their soil is very free-draining. During the winter they are kept in an unheated room and will be allowed to stay dry for weeks at a time. I’ll only give a tiny drop if they start to shrivel!

  • @avocadotoast8957
    @avocadotoast8957 Рік тому

    How often do you water when they are just seedlings vs when they are the size of peas?

    • @Plantnerd
      @Plantnerd 10 місяців тому

      Seedlings should be kept moist at all times or they will dry up and die. By the time they’re the size of a pea they can be potted up and allowed to dry out briefly between watering during summer months and dry for longer periods during winter months if they are in an unheated environment.
