Chuck Kraft #2 Green Dragonfly
Chuck Kraft #2 Green Dragonfly. Interesting body on this cork bug. You can attain this shape by turning your bug body on a lathe or using a jig with a drill and sanding the bug as it turns. It can also be done by hand. The tail in this video is an ultrasuede strip that Chuck hand cut. You can use a Crittermite tail to get this same effect. You can use the Crittermite tail as is or cut the side points off of the tail to give you a more slender tail. Note the areas that Chuck painted in off white. This is so you can see the bug in low light conditions like under tree canopies, early light, foam lines, etc. This bug can be made in sizes #6-#1. All materials used to make this fly can be found at easterntrophiesflyfishing.bigcartel.com

Chuck Kraft #2 Yellow Excalibur
Переглядів 8263 роки тому
One of the best mid Summer bugs you can fish on clear sunny days. You would think you can catch anything in the middle of the day, but this bug proves different. See our other topwater bug videos and many of the clips of clients catching larger Smallmouth are on bright sunny days and its this bug that we were using. This bug can be made in sizes #1-#6. All the materials to tie this fly and fini...
Chuck Kraft Green Slotted Bug - Crittermite Tail
Переглядів 6783 роки тому
One of Chuck Kraft's original bugs he used for guide trips. Made of composite cork, this style bug splats and lands unlike foam or balsa wood. This is one of many reasons why these bugs are so effective. Smallmouth, Largemouth and many more species have fallen to this bug. All material to make these bugs are available at easterntrophies.com.
Parakeet - Tied by Chuck Kraft
Переглядів 6783 роки тому
The Parakeet was developed in the mid 1980's by Chuck Kraft. This new version was established in the mid 90's when Chuck began working with ultrasuede. This fly is deadly on freshwater and saltwater species. It is incredibly durable due to the way it is tied and also the synthetic tail. All tails, fly tying kits and everything Chuck Kraft can be found at easterntrophiesflyfishing.bigcartel.com

Boga Bugs Catch Trout Too???
Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 років тому
Chuck Kraft Boga Bugs have been catching Smallmouth and Largemouth since the early 90's. They have also been very good for catching trout also. Chuck has used his bugs in South America before when he used to guide there. Simple profile, great movement and an amazing "SPLAT" doesn't hurt. These bugs are all hand made by Eastern Trophies Fly Fishing and are available at easterntrophies.com

Topwater Kreelex - Eastern Trophies Fly Fishing
Переглядів 5 тис.7 років тому
Developed in 2010, the Topwater Kreelex has been our top producing fly for topwater smallmouth for the past 6 years. The fly is a floating crankbait for the fly rod angler. Just like the Kreelex, the TWK is truly a magnet for Smallmouth in addition to Largemouth and Redfish. Action that brings smiles and laughter to anglers, this fly is a blast to fish. easterntrophiesflyfishing.bigcartel.com

Nice
This was from a decade ago, but did he use the supported or unsupported?
Hi - where do you source and size your cork pieces? can it be weighted enough to float and be used with a light conventional set up?
Nice fly looks great
im just here to say that my buddy told me about eastern trophies, and im glad i discovered this, these fly's are awesome!
would you mind doing a tying tutorial on your Boga Bug? I would appreciate it greatly!
Looks like a real bug, you are a good tyer!
Great video, thanks!
Teaching my 11 year old nephew this fly today. Chuck’s video is the only way to do it for me. Respect the GOATs and our classics! ❤
Thanks. I'll be trying these out this spring in my pa waters
Great fly.
It looks like it could be a good fly for redfish!
Excellent video! RIP CK
Looks effective! I would add a wire rib to help protect the wound hackle!
Innovator
Thanks for sharing, Chuck. Do you ever tie it with peacock herl?
What color thread are you using? Does it matter?
Very similar to griffith's gnat, my opinion
Neat tie! Thank you sir...
Just tied a few up for next week on the Waioeka River down under in New Zealand. Always worth trying something new and great to watch the inventor tying and presenting on U Tube. Kind Regards.
How did they work?
Yeah, spill the beans! 😂
I’ve never seen that before, thanks for posting. I like your accent too.
Question: where do y’all source the flat dumbbell eyes?
A question on the amount of Kreinik for the tail. The vidio suggests 15 to 20 strands. I have looked at pictures of the commercial flies for sale and they clearly have more than that. Just a guess but the pictures would suggest twice that amount. 20 strands looks very sparse. Any opinions or advice in this area would be appreciated. Thanks
Do a tying video for these if you would....
Do you only tie it in white? Have you experimented with other colors like chartreuse?
I tie mine where hackle comes out to hook point after I trim it. Very deadly for me and I’m using a spinning reel with no other weight. Casts well and trout will come up from out of site to nail it. So much fun.
Very helpful, thank you.
Bug re-hab, yea, lol. A good friend now deceased said "why do you mess with your lures?" I replied because its more to the fishe's liking. Anyway fished the Potomac for yrs. and do REALLY dig the selection but i am a mouse man (lol) 3 different sizes so the story goes once say 35 yrs. ago waded behind and island and tossed the rodent in, missed the water but hit the steep bank with said overhead foliage...that fish vaulted out of the water onto the bank around 20 inches up and MISSED it! I was kindof shocked but totally exhilerated NOT to see that fish again....another good one is if you have A POPPER WITH TEETH HOLES IN IT....lol
Amazing! 🐟(ua-cam.com/video/0Ik1tBCmqgI/v-deo.html)
Way cool. I like the line wiggle technique once the cast is made. I bet that really does drive 'em crazy and trigger aggressive takes. Nice vid. Love the "bird's eye view!
Great video. Many thanks for posting.
Such a cool bug!
Excellent and informative video for smallie topwater and subsurface techniques. Thank you, William Heresniak!
After watching this a few times it occurred to me that the sounds of the boat and the oars make picked up by your Go Pro are probably not that far off from what fish can hear or at least sense. That also leads me to believe that sound isn't as bad as we are lead to believe when it comes to fish.
Thank you for posting this...I'm going to throw a few of his bugs tomorrow, and see if I can't dig up my first Smallmouth of 2021.
How did I not know about this fly? Well...guess I'll be ordering some tails :)
What a fantastic pattern. I am a huge fan of Chuck’s work.
Just great! Thanks for posting.
Thanks!
I find it easier to glue the legs to the leather tail - then attach it to the hook/body.
My tenth time watching this, patiently waiting on warmer weather, and topwater eats from snakeheads and smallies!
William, prompted by the background of this video, you should to one to organizing one's tying supplies.
we want to see the fish eat the bug and the action, not the end of a fight
Top water kreelex?
Yuppers......
I articulate mine
If you are still running any Potomac trips in early November would be interested in booking trip with you: chas3.crowe@gmail.com
Great information!!
Legend
I just tied a bunch of these with the same materials I got from you at last year’s NJ show. Can’t wait to try em out on the smallies.
What material is the tail made from?
Ultrasueded
@@easterntrophies Thanks! Do craft stores sell it? I've been looking for a material to make tiny minnow tails from.
Not really. Some fabric stores do. We sell it by the yeard.
@@easterntrophies I don't see it on your site
