I don't get this at all. In the Netherlands (and everywhere in Europe that I know of) getting your PhD is a research job. Not a very well paying job, but you get enough to get by. You need to publish papers tho.

All of that as compared to Stefan Molyneux who is a very sloppy thinker, but can make money as a "philosopher" by having an online presence and giving call in advice for free. I don't know about the mind set of someone when taking all of the variables into consideration and still pursues a PhD in Philosophy.

Yeah having a conversation is quite hard nowadays because everyone wants to argue about everything. To have a conversation is to share ideas and accept all points of view (no matter how ignorant it may seem at first). It doesn't require much, yet many struggle to listen without trying to immediately counter with an attack/insult. Hence the Mexican saying "Lo que es hablar de politica y religion, nunca se llega a un acuerdo" which means "An agreement is never struck when talking about religion or politics"

The pangs of have hunger and the dopamine from a good lunch undoubtedly casts a dark shadow on the validity of ideas from any mind on this rock. This drastic change in attitude and temporary subconscious beliefs is unable to be ignored...but kinda is...
