Glad that you made social services aware and understandable that they cant update you on specifics of ongoing actions. Could be lots of reasons for her circumstances but if i had to be suspicious, when she said she came there in the 1990s and has been there ever since and they bring her food and water, it could be like modern day slavery. It doesnt mean people are chained up physically but often detained there through mental means.

I cannot recommend enough to all urbex explorers to wear face masks with filters and gloves, there is always a chance you might breathe asbestos or touch things with mold or whatever toxic materials, wear mountain boots for foot protection also. Please be safe.

ILL be honest with you this did not shock me i remember when i was a kid and my mom would deliver meals on wheels from around 89 to 94 for the elderly a lot of the houses back then where in this state and no matter how much my mom and other workers would try and convince them to leave and go to a care home`s they would not go and most of the time it was being pure stubborn and not wanting to except help, we have to remember back then and even now the older generation where brought up different to how society is now, and i feel this younger generation will be different when older to the older generation now.

The lady obviously wanted companionship. Someone that takes nothing from people when asked NEVER WILL so don't keep on asking do u want slippers or a new blanket etc..& why did u both keep on knocking the house - the lady was lieing about new blankets & clothes which u should've maybe realised as you'd been through her dwelling. U both obviously were shocked, who wouldn't be, but hopefully u'll visit her & try to get aged care involved & make sure the farmer who owns the house isn't taking the ladies pension or anything. I have myself visited this property, but didnt know or think anyone was living in it, i took pictures outside as i came alone and didnt want to try any doors, but its definitely the same house, looks very abandoned. Its not even far fron me either. Such a shame shes living that way

Bless the lovely lady I would of helped her by sorting room out for her make it safe and changing the bed from that room to other room. Bring her flowers and clean bedding pillows. I feel sorry for her I bet it's cold in the winter 😢

How sad to discover a very old woman living in such squalor . Please get her help as she needs to be living in a care facility . This is such a tragic story . Get her help ASAP !

I couldn't sleep at night after seeing her living in mold and filth. She's not being honest about eating and not needing anything 😢 this made me cry.

I don't know how things work in Canada but you need to call somebody who can give her a clean living space to just freaking leave her and do nothing is unacceptable a dog shouldn't live in those conditions. 😡

The ladys concern about thr window was heartbreaking when her entire living conditions were so bad. I had an uncle who lived like this. Luckily he did allow me to help him with shopping and meals and paying his bills. But i had to be extremely careful not to say or do the wrong thing as he would have cut me off supporting him. Since my childhood it was hard to help him. He didnt want interference but he needed help. In the end he knew my help was keeping the authorities at bay so he grudgingly let me help. It was sad. I cant say we even got very close even though i was his neice and cared about him. Years after his death (alone in that house) i can see he had mental health issues and i know he suffered some kind of severe trauma in WW2 that affected his whole life. But he loved cats and i loved that about him. He had about 4 strays that i brought food for. He adored those cats and really looked after them. When he died 3 if the cats dissapeared. I could not find them and they never came back. But one just kept miaowing and tucked herself behind his shed. I eventually coaxed her out and took her home abd she stayed happily with me until her end at 19 years. I got carried away with my story. But i do think lots of elderly people live like this lady in the UK. Communities and care systems are broken. They slip through the net but most people are aware how bad the care systen often is in the uk and dont want to risk asking for help in case they are forced into it. I know my uncle felt that way and he died in 2001. Thank you for being nice and respectful to this lady.

This was a huge safeguarding issue and should have been reported to social services immediately Anyone living in those cinditions and acceoting it is not in their right mind. I coukdnt find any uodate but I hope you did the right thing. I don't agree with this 'urban exoploration' trend- it's tresspass, pure and simple.

This is so sad but so many local authorities are strapped for cash, people don’t have the neighbourly network they once had. It is my fear I have no children, my partner is a older than me and I have challenges. I was assessed by our local Council when I was on my own and they told me what I needed but no money to provide it!! Instead of spending all this money on illegal migrants, our politicians need to make money available for our elderly who paid the most in to the system but get the least out. I have elderly parents, they have to pay privately for physio etc. Our young people are so disrespectful and forget that one day they will be in the same position. Even if you just contact Age UK if you don’t want to tell the local authority, they can help her.
