How to Rig and Fish a Drop Shot - Tutorial (from a kayak!)
When fish are deep, in a negative mood, and a bit sluggish, there may be no better (and simpler) technique to catch them than with a Dropshot Rig. A small finesse lure like a soft plastic worm or minnow wriggling and dancing in their face is irresistible to a fish, even when they're not hungry! Drop-shotting is a fancy term for a fishing rig where you put your weight BELOW your hook, instead of crimping it on your line above the hook like you’d normally do. The weight is tied to the end of the line and the hook is attached 12” to 18” above it. Hook on your soft plastic lure of choice,, and you’re ready to fish! Cast it out and let the sinker pull your bait to the bottom, snug up your line, then jiggle away.
Keep in mind, although this technique was made famous by bass anglers looking for smallmouth in "deeper" water like 15 to 25 feet, it’s just as effective for species like perch, sunfish, crappie, walleye, pike…you name it. Just scale the size of your lure to your quarry! And while it excels as a way of getting your lure down to the bottom in deeper water, it’s just as effective in 6 to 10 feet of water.
Enjoy!

Resilient Rivers: Good for Fish and People
Переглядів 963 місяці тому
Fish and other aquatic organisms face threats from development as well as increasing frequency and intensity of floods and droughts and rising temperatures. Restoring rivers to natural conditions will help ensure the long-term survival of aquatic organisms, and has co-benefits for water quality and flood resilience. This talk will highlight three areas where municipalities can help protect aqua...

Good stuff! You say they are effective and good to use up until end of June, so what do you use for the summer and fall then? Will these not go deep enough, and you want to go deeper due to a higher water temperature?
Great Inro, thank you.
Thank you for sharing all this information! This video was amazing and so informative. I’m glad that I watched this before ordering seeds on Prairie Moon. I have a couple questions for the experts… I live in Windham County, VT and own 30 acres of land which is listed as high priority on BioFinder. The land includes mostly woodlands, a beaver pond, a couple acres of open/grassy spaces, and lots of marshland. I would love to help maintain the native Vermont plants and wildlife and reduce the invasive species - there are lot! Are there sources that provide the correct seeds of the endangered, rare, or threatened plants? I would love to learn more about how I can help the aquatic life on my land as well. Also interested in field guides and any other information and resources that may help. Thank you so much! To summarize… How would you suggest someone learns more about this topic, potentially to begin a career but, at the very least, to help the community maintain it’s biodiversity? I am eager to do my part to help. Thank you for reading all the way through this lengthy comment.
Sending love from Canada thanks a lot

2:50 I eat seeds and berries like mice do, but mice also eat insects and I don't do that!
What If I am under the allowed age?
I just started fishing, this helped me a lot, thank you
Excellent, we're so happy you found it helpful!

Trophy fish are wild not lab raised
I don’t use any sinker, the trout will rise if the worm is not on the bottom, it’s a more natural presentation.
Excellent - thanks you!
If you’re fishing a large school of longnose always take them somewhere else to turn them loose. An addled fish will spook the group when it goes back to them.
Did u rly say "Live to be caught again" ? lol guess that's the #nameofthegame but thx for posting the 1st 2:22 sec of this video before the #infomercial so I could "school" (heh) someone on not just throwing damn fish back in the h20 & wondering why they just float there/and/or die...
Is there something wrong with the audio or is it just me?
Hard to believe it could be this bad in 2024. The presenters sound fine, but the audience is tough to hear.
Mike - we apologize for the audio in some sections of the video. As @flazjsg mentioned, the presenters sound clear, and that's because we had a wireless microphone at the podium to record their talks. We also had a second "shotgun mic" attached to the video camera that was supposed to record audio from the rest of the room on a separate channel, including audience questions during Q&A etc., but that microphone unfortunately malfunctioned and didn't record. So we were left only with the original audio track from the wireless mic at the podium which did not record clearly when anyone spoke away from the podium. We tried to boost and improve the audio in those sections, but it wasn't very successful. Sorry for the inconvenience.
@@vermontfishwildlifedepartm6195 Stuff happens, I appreciate you posting this meeting!
@@vermontfishwildlifedepartm6195 I appreciate the response. I hope that in the future meetings like this would have a livecast option. I think it would go a long way for the citizens you represent that can't make the meeting in person.
@@mikesantos920Normally it is broadcast live like a Zoom meeting. Due to the weather they had to reschedule it this year on short notice.
You're going to need a taller ladder.

great video. that last part is hilarious haha

They are frequent companions for me when ski touring in the Uintas. They’re surprisingly intelligent, very charismatic little creatures.

pretty hard to beat the good ol' GARDEN HACKLE.
Could you have named a few streams for us new yorkers??????????
Yes bullhead hit lightly so you gotta be patient. I just use a float slip rig with no bobber stop and use a weight appropriate for the depth or current.
Thank you for all you do.
Thanks for watching out for our wildlife.
Would like to see antler restriction removed due to lack of buck sighting . Think going back to spike with at least 3 inch should be up to the hunters.
Save the salisbury hatchery
What is happening with the various tick populations? What is your advice for control? There doesn't seem to be a strong concern for finding other ways and means for supporting the hatchery. Disappointed.
Then why close a hatchery?
AWESOME job everyone!!
One of my favorite things about UA-cam, meeting new people!!!! Tom from North East Outdoor Adventures and I just subscribed, what a great find, and what a great video !!!! Even picked up some new tricks, thanks for the button idea😊😊😊😊
Tom - thank you for the subscribe! We're happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Have a great ice fishing season.
Thanks for the video!
Where did you get the cylinder
These sorts of tools are available in a lot of fishing stores like BassPro or Tackle Warehouse. Here's a link to one of them: www.tacklewarehouse.com/O-Wacky_Tool/descpage-OWACKYTOOL.html

Wheres my best bet to catch walleye which lake has the highest population density
Thanks for this work! I was unable to find the track identification card so I could print it for myself (not an educator, but an adult-onset hunter who likes to look at tracks in the snow and mud). Is there a way to get there that is not obvious?
Thanks!
It’s been 30 years since I ice fish I wanna get into it this year. Thank you for the refresher course.

No surprise here.
how deep can it bring the line and what troll speed is optimal?
Here's a very good instructional UA-cam video on the use of the Michigan Stinger Dive Bomber. It explains the 4 different sizes available and talks about the depths that can be achieved with each size. ua-cam.com/video/dpkZcXPcH48/v-deo.html. You might also want to read this very detailed article on how to use it. It gets into specifics such as trolling speed and the amount of line put out behind the boat. www.michigan-sportsman.com/threads/dive-bombs-history-how-to-fish-depths-and-running-multiples.243623/
