We are Father (John) and Daughter (Natalie) who have an avid interest in Bird Life, Wildlife and Photography. Our aim is to make our videos enjoyable, for all to watch.
If one person takes up bird watching and/or bird photography because of our channel, then we will consider that a success.
We have only been doing this hobby since November 2020 but have learned quite a lot in that time. We are not professionals. Just two people who enjoy watching bird life in their habitat. Please join us on our adventures.
We hope you enjoy our pictures.

Short Eared Owls at Bempton Cliffs

Today we went with the sole aim of getting some pictures of the short eared owls. It was bitterly cold and we stood for 5 hours to get them. We hope you like them. This is probably our last video before Christmas so we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Excellant video looks a super place.
@@kevincarolan7146 thank you for your kind comment. It’s a really nice spot and you feel really isolated.
Good to see you guys back on the road again, was wondering where you were. The hide looks interesting, sime good small woodland birds, and the Buzzard encounter must have been fantastic. I may have a go as well, but that road dont look good for my little Skoda , Ive just booked a full day again at the leeds wildlife photography hides, £65 for the day, which i find reasonable. What lenses did you guys use for your day?
@@Huddsbirder hi Grant, thanks for your kind comments. Firstly the road is not too bad if you take it steady. Buzzard really gave us the run around as it knew we were there. The Leeds photography hide is also good value. We aim to go back there again at some point. I had a fixed 400mm lens and Natalie had a 100-400mm lens.
Nathalie takes the most beautiful photos of this session 👏👍❤️
We agree!
Another interesting video to watch and you certainly captured a wide variety of birds. I wanted to ask you both if you feel emotionally different about photos of birds you take using an hide and birds you photograph while not being hidden and having to use not only your photography skills but also knowledge of birds as to where they maybe and where they may show up. I often think with hides your given an enormous amount of help, perches set up, maybe feeders to entice the birds to area and of course the hide itself means your hidden away. This gives you or anybody the opportunity to capture some great images but I just wonder if it’s as satisfying as doing it the hard way and the only cover you have is your camouflage clothing and the only help you have is your knowledge of birds. I would be genuinely interested in your opinion, you may think a photo of a bird is a photo of a bird and how you came to capture it is less important than the actual quality of the photo and I guess the photos you took in this video are only known to us that you took them from a hide is because you showed us, the photos don’t tell us that. Bit of a long comment but I hope you understand what I’m trying to ask.
Hi Darren we fully understand what you are saying and yes we think it’s always more satisfying to capture pictures where field craft has taken place. However pictures from a hide also get you a lot closer to birds than otherwise possible. Our videos have a variety of ways we capture pictures of wildlife. From paid hides, nature reserve hides, to our own hides and finally walking and taking pictures. All require different skills and techniques. We love doing all of them. Hope that answers your question Darren and thanks for your interest in our channel.
Loving the vlog, do you have a link to the hide, I’ve looked up North Star wildlife hide, but don’t seem to find anything
@@alunlambert7456 hi Alun I think the only way you can contact them is via facebook and message them on there.
@@twitcherspictures Thank you for getting back to me
Good to see you back with another lovely video, must agree with some of the Hide prices it is getting ridiculous at some places. Great work again keep it up 👍
@@tonyslater8762 thanks Tony. Yes it was nice to go to a reasonably and fairly priced hide.
Good to see you both back. That looks like a good set-up they've got there and you got some good photos! 👍👍👍
Many thanks Graham and yes a very good set up.
Thank you sharing your videoJohn and Natalie. Its a lovely video with great photos as well. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit.😊
Thank you Andrea for a great day. We really enjoyed it. The buzzard did give us the run around 😂
The buzzard has been the same for me today.. Stayed in the trees around the hide all afternoon and it was calling all the time. 😂
Nice video and images👍
Thank you Len, much appreciated.
Whereabouts did you see them?
@@AmberMitchell-pd1lm Ulrome Amber
You both got some decent shots of the Sand Martins there. When it came to the camera swap I think Natalie fared a bit better with John's camera than vice versa. Good test though! Well done both of you! 👍🙂👍
Thanks Graham and we agree with your verdict 👍
@@twitcherspictures 😆
Wow! If that’s your first efforts at photographing Sand Martins you should be “well chuffed” some great captures of very very difficult subjects, fast small erratic flyers. Another great video keep it up 👏👏
Thanks Tony. Yes not an easy subject.
lovely video guys , I've not mastered fast small birds, I couldn't catch Ring necked parakeets whilst in London earlier this week but I'm really old. Keep them coming very entertaining 👍
Thank you Derek. These Sandmartins are a test for anyone.
Some nice photos there of an extremely fast and difficult subject, much better than ive ever had. Ive never thought about going to the coast to see sand martins before, usually watching them at North Cave. Interesting comparison of your experiences of both cameras, however i dont think its the settings John....its age unfortunately 🤣 , believe me i know all about it 😭. Nice vlog both 👍🏼
Thanks Richard for your comments . Your probably right about it being an age thing 😩😂😂
Great video guys and some really great captures !!!
Thank you Ryan much appreciated. It was not easy 😂
@@twitcherspictures Haha I can imagine, they are super quick and do not hang around for long!
I enjoyed your photos. I had to turn the sound up when you talked to hear. Then the music was too load and I would turn the sound down. Had to do this several times which takes away from the video.
Thank you for your comment. Yes we agree the music is too loud and we are working on it. It’s a new editing we have got and struggling to get the balance right at the moment.
Such a beautiful place to go birding! New subscriber here ✨
It certainly is a great place and thanks for subscribing 👍
Enjoyed Your Film Very Much, Beautiful Photos, Greetings From Norfolk, Many Thanks For Sharing.
Thank you for your kind comments. It is much appreciated 👍
Ahhh great video guys glad I came across your channel looks fantastic !!! I was up there Thursday/Friday just gone, and recently put a video up from my trip, it's a fantastic place isn't it !!!! Truly magical that's for sure. Have subscribed to your channel guys look forward to more!
Thanks for your nice comments Ryan and for subscribing. We have just watched your excellent video and subscribed. Bempton is certainly a great place.
@@twitcherspictures Ahhh wow thanks so much guys really appreciate that! And yeah totally, I was blown away by it all, was a fantastic experience.
Could you adjust your audio levels. the music is so much louder then when you are talking. Have to turn up to listen to you but then the music comes up and blow out the ears 😉
We will look into this for the next one. It’s a new app we are using so please bare with us.
Great video guys you certainly had some wonderful shots, nice to have company whilst birding so to enjoy what is seen and enjoyed together, plus a bit of friendly competition with your pics, keep them coming 👍
Many thanks Derek. It was a great day all round for us.
Another great video. Must say that the quality of images from both of you was significantly improved in this video😀. Wish i could get a devent picture of a puffin there 😂
Thank you Richard for your comments. It is much appreciated. Not easy to get the puffins as they generally fly lower down the cliffs.
Another great video guys, love Bempton myself too. So many great images to chose a favourite. Happy birding 😊
Many thanks Huddsbirder, much appreciated 👍
I was there the same morning as you got there for dawn for the barn owl not a single shot oh hum at least the light was very good early on enjoy your channel keep up the good work
Thank you Fredrsbs for your kind comments. The barn owl only showed briefly and at distance but happy with what we got.
It was great to meet you both, your enthusiasm is infectious. Your channel reflects your passion for your hobby, another great video well done. Favourite photo was Natalie’s Fulmar, sorry John your Reed Bunting a close second
It was great to meet you Tony. Your encouragement spurs us on to do more.
Bempton cliffs is a wonderful place, not just the birds it’s also a great view looking south. You both captured some nice photos, there are probably more different species of birds on the land as there are on the cliffs as your video shows. I was there Thursday evening but didn’t see any Puffins and didn’t see the barn owl either, I did see some puffins at Flamborough earlier in the day so that was good to see. Regarding you camera gear, I’m the same, constantly trying out different settings, forgetting the good settings I’ve previously used, it makes me wonder how these you UA-camrs who do camera reviews can give an accurate opinion of a camera they’ve only been using for a couple of days. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks for your kind comments Darren. You make some very good points.
I think it was more of a case of you win some you lose some! Great to see the Bittern and Marsh Harrier shots. I'm a bit blasé about Great Crested Grebes as they're easy to get get at my local reserve (Dagenham Chase). Shame you didn't get Cuckoo again. If at first you don't succeed...! Always enjoy your vlogs! Keep it up my friends. Looking forward to seeing your next outing. All the best. Graham. 👍🤓👍
Many thanks Graham for your comments and continued support.
Hi good vlog again. Have you thought about doing a vlog about your cameras, leses, and settings you use ect?
Hi ajs1501, many thanks for your comment and support. It is much appreciated. Yes we are going to incorporate more equipment settings and reviews etc into our future videos.
Must agree with @petersmith7560 it would be great if these were a bit longer. Another great video sharing your day out, some great photos of your sightings. Pleased to see you got the “Humbugs”
Once again many thanks for your continued support Tony it is much appreciated. We will see if we can make them a bit longer. We have a few ideas in mind.
@@twitcherspictures probably selfish on my part, I just enjoy your enthusiasm and the enjoyment of your days out. Keep it up
Ayup you two, Thank you for posting yet another very enjoyable vlog, I’m sure i can’t be the only subscriber who wishes these vlogs were a tad longer as they just seem to end all too quickly for me, I just sit down with a Brew and whooosh your on and gone 🤣 Keep em coming because you two are a great watch with brilliant content.😎👍
Great video guys, it can be a difficult time of year for photography. I thought you might have a trip to St Aidans at some point. The Bitterns have been flying over Astley Lake the last few weeks. Always something to point your camera at.
Thanks Paul. We have heard good things about St Aidan’s and will add it to our list.

Always a good day when you see a Hobby, especially when you have clear skies to watch it hunting, keep up the great work 👏
Thanks Tony. We appreciate your your comments as always.
Great video as always - it's a nice visit at North Cave - i have only been once - do you have an instagram account where you post your pics - would love to be able to follow your insta and see your photos in more detail - keep up the vids
Keeping it real - as ever. Nice Hobby shots but Natalie, your Mallard head shot was gorgeous! 👍👍👍
Many thanks for your comments and continued support Graham. It is much appreciated.
Been to NCW many times, a nice reserve with a mixture of habitats. However I've never seen the Hobby's yet. Yours were great photos of it John 👍. Liked Natalie's flying tufted duck too
Many thanks Richard for your kind comments. The reserve certainly pops up with the unexpected.
@@twitcherspictures as to some ideas for the channel...why don't you try a Nikon / Sony swap and spend a day shooting with each others gear for a laugh, then each give your (unbiased) opinions 😆
Now that’s a good idea Richard. We will plan it in to our schedule.
Any day seeing a free-flying Peregrine is a good day. Unless you're a pigeon. Obviously. Great video! 👍🤓👍
Thank you NCUK and yes we enjoyed the Peregrine free flying.
Hooray you got sunshine, another great day out thanks for sharing it
Thanks for watching Tony 👍
Impressive photos considering the conditions! The rain actually lent some atmosphere to many of the photos. Great to see you back! 👍👍👍🤓
Thank you NCUK your comments are appreciated as always.
Good to see you out and about again, have you actually made any videos when it hasn’t been raining 🤣
I don’t think we have Tony 😂
Always a pleasure to watch your videos, fantastic photos 📸
Thank you Victor that is very much appreciated
Great video as always - I recently visited north cave wetlands and it's a cracking venue - looking forward to your next video 😊
Thank you for your kind comments. Another video in the next couple of weeks hopefully 👍
Was lucky enough to to see Short-eared,and barn owls at Bempton.
Always nice to see them. Thanks for your comment 👍
Love watching this guy on TV, amazing talent. Didn't realise he had a gallery, thanks for showing us, may need to pop in sometime, ill leave the wallet in the car 😅. Love the videos 👍💕
Thanks Grant. We just thought we’d do something different especially with the weather as it is.
Amazing artwork, simply stunning. What a talented guy. Thanks for introducing us to his work. 👍🤓👍
You’re welcome NCUK. Yes he really has a talent.
Keep the videos coming, nice to see something different. I’m up your way in June spending a few days at Bempton and surrounding area.
Thanks Tony. If you are at Bempton on a Monday we might meet up. Let us know if you need any info on surrounding areas etc
Success! Not easy in those blowy conditions too! Well done!
Thanks Tony much appreciated. We’ve certainly not had the best of weather for photography just lately.
@@twitcherspictures As a gardener I totally agree with you on the weather, the birds don't seem to be liking it much either. I was at Abberton reservoir the other day, one causeway was all but deserted and from he other, there were diving ducks en masse. At least the passerines are beginning to sing so hopefully they know spring is on the way. All this rain and storm after storm wears a bit thin. No doubt we'll have a hosepipe ban in a few months. Ah but the water fringes will be adorned with a nice selection of waders, so it's not all bad.
Couldn’t agree more Tony. Love the bit about a hosepipe ban coming soon. 😂😂
@@twitcherspictures Tee hee
Well I'd be happy with these pics, nice one 👍📷😁
Thanks Tom 👍
I'm still using Nikon D7500, is the switch to mirrorless worth it ? Reading that latest update to Z8 really good
Hi Tom, I’m really pleased with it now I’ve got used to the auto focus system and yes the latest update has made it even better. I’ve just sold my d500 so no going back now. Is it worth the extra investment? Only you can decide that Tom. The z lens range is fantastic but you can use your dslr lens with an adapter and still get good results. Regards john
@@twitcherspictures thanks for reply. No doubt I'll be going mirrorless in the near future, waiting to see latest releases this year 👍
Cracking flight shots 👍📷😁
Thanks Tom much appreciated.
