I love all four of those. Nice line up!
I'm so overbought on bottles I'm doing all I can resist just buying this but probably can't resist. I can get it for $20 and I want to just become they're making something so cheap. I also wish there was more cheap quality choices that are 80-90 proof because I have enough of the high proof good stuff. Jim Beam 7, Buffalo Trace and Green River bourbon are that. I keep thinking that this Beam is going to be like drinking pot pourie. 😆🤷
You’re exactly right. The 3 you named are great bang for your buck kind of bottles. This Winter Reserve is a bit underwhelming compared to each of those. I’m putting it in a blind soon with other sub-90 proof bottles. We shall see… Thanks for the support!
Excellent editing on this video. The shot is set up very nice as well. Keep going man, sow your seed and I hope you receive tenfold. Good stuff.
Thank you so much for the support! I appreciate it!
First of great competition I watched all of the ones leading up to this one. I like that you use the what the bottles look like in the beginning of the video but then you went to just the name. I would have to keep seeing what the bottles look like throughout the video. I am looking forward to the next video cheers 🥃
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the feedback!
I can’t stand dickel. 🤢
lol. Same!
Not surprising! Woodford just doesn't do it for me! Excellent blind!
Thanks for the support. Are you a fan of Woodford double Oaked?
@@TheCynpleWhiskeyShow Not really. Everyone kept telling me to get a pick, so iI did, and loved it. The next pick, not so much. Let's just say that I'm glad that I tried it in the store first.
Makes sense. You like what you like.
got SUUUUUPER lucky with this one. Barely ever see allocated stuff in town, but snagged it the second i saw it.
Nice. Let me know what you think!
Really good quality video and editing! Like the review, too. You gained a new follower here!
Thank you for the support, I appreciate it! Cheers!
Thanks for the great review! How were you able to obtain the 1792 sweet wheat?
Thanks for the support! Random drop in VA.
"No fluff. Just proofy, brown sippy stuff." - Cyncere This video has some quotes. :)
😂
I don't think this is a Bourbon of the Year contender, but I will say that its the best bottle that Penelope has distributed. I am a fan of Valencia, its one of my preferred pours during the hot days of summer, but this is much better! Keep up this type of content, this was a nice, solid review. Cheers!
I’m glad you enjoyed the review. I’m with you on Valencia.
I think it's interesting how blending the two gives you a better taste of both!
It’s definitely hit or miss. Sometimes they clash horribly.
another banger!
GREAT CONTENT!
Thanks for the support!!
The christmas intro is dope
Day 3 Lets Gooooo‼️‼️‼️
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for a show like this. A simple review that is not over the top from people trying to hard. I look forward to trying this if I can find it.
Thank you so much for the support and the reply! Good luck on your hunt! Cheers!
A few weeks back I stopped by my local liqour store and the had both bottles, the Valencia and the Private Select. I when for the Valencia, but the manager told me you can purshase both if you want, I don't care. I said thanks, I take both them😂.
You can't go wrong with both! Cheers!
This one is a bit disingenuous of them. It isn't really a triple oak in the way that the industry defines it. It is a blend of bourbons (same mash bill) that were finished in different barrels. When we say triple oak, we're generally saying that you rest it in the first barrel (always new for American whiskeys, aside from corn whiskey), then it is dumped and put in another new barrel... then dumped and put in another new barrel. But, since there isn't *really* any regulation on that... they can say what they want despite the expectations of what people would have... even if it is good.
You're right, there's a bit of a technicality there. Good observation!
I find it very…. Whelming. Bought one at Costco. There was only a case and I saw the triple oaked band on the top. I’m not a fan of AE, but I have this on my bar for those who wanna try it. Won’t be buying a new one though. I’ll just keep the regular for those newbies who wanna try a bourbon that is easier.
Same. I have my engraved bottle, but the one that’s already opened is for those who haven’t had it yet. Don’t think I’ll be going back to this one anytime soon.
Well done brother, great review 👍
Thanks for the support! Glad you enjoyed it.
I have a bottle I like 👍🏻
I've enjoyed it

When will the end of the year bourbon ranking drop?
New Year’s Day.
my two bottles from Penelope Estate 9y should be arrive next week. i am excited, we obly get 30 for germany😅
1. Penelope is my favorite brand to turn to. I picked this up but haven’t opened it yet. 2. I will forever believe adding water to bourbon is blasphemy simply my opinion. Enjoy your bourbon how you like! Subbed and liked!
Thanks for the support! What's your favorite Penelope expression thus far?
@ The 9 year Barrel Proof is by far my favorite but I don’t see it in my area often, it reminds me of cherry coke. Next would be the Toasted which tastes the way a roasted marshmallow smells if that makes sense.
The toasted is very good. I like the Rio as well. I haven’t met a Penelope that I didn’t like, to date.
Now I’m happy that I got one at retail. It was pure dumb luck. Also, I find it funny that our Hero here has routes to different stores. I do the same.
Anything I can get a retail, I consider a win! Lol
Now I don’t feel so bad that I missed out on it. Hopefully the wife wasn’t too angry with you.
She’s good. Actually liked the video. Lol
I’m glad that I missed out on the 1924. It was going for 160 minimum in the stores by me that had it. Very true when doing this blend that you have to let it sit for at least six weeks.
I'm going to let my blend sit a little longer. I'm curious to see how it further develops.
For me I'd add Redwood empire rye, OF Rye 100 or Sazerac Rye to this list. There are some high rye bourbons on here but for me a rye is a nice touch. Also to I think Scotch is good to know. It can balance out the intensity of Bourbon. I'd add Glenfiddich 12 year or Highland Park 12 year to dip your toe into the Scotch world.
Noted!!!
I like how it was stated that get to know your palate first. I too just went head first into whiskey and it hit the wallet hard. Luckily back then I was making good $$. If I was starting a whiskey collection now or advising someone new I'd say getting to know your palate if very very important. Hit up the mini section or the 375 ml sections if you can't get to a bar. Once you've dabbled a bit and understand your palate then start buying the big bottles.
Great point! I’m currently doing exactly this with scotch. Oddly enough, I haven’t quite had anything that really stands out on that front.
@@TheCynpleWhiskeyShow Ooh if you're starting out with Scotch but with all your experience with Bourbon and Stogies it will be hard to find a stand out. Shoot. If you can try the Sherry bombs. Aberlour Abunadh, Edradour or Tamdhu 12,15 or Batch strength. Bruichladdich Classic Laddie might be too much malt for you but it is a change up. Clynelish 14 year might be another good one for you. Has an interesting wax note. Last for a Scotch that may stand out go for that Peat. Ardbeg 10 year, Uggiedail or maybe Lagavulin 8 year. I like having Scotch to change things up from the the vanillas, woody notes and caramel from Bourbon.
Thanks for the insight. The ones I’ve tried taste watered down due to lower proof. Glenlivet 12 & Johnny Walker Blue were quite underwhelming. But I’ll give some of your recommendations a shot.
hmm. Now I'm not feeling bad I got this bottle this past weekend. I walked into my local store and the associate said we just got this in. Don't know if you're interested. I saw the age statement and proof and thought why not. I'll add it to my Penelope collection. I hope to get the same enjoyment and tasting notes for when I finally crack it. Thanks for the honest review.
It’s a great pick for your collection! Thanks for the support!! Cheers!
Nice review im looking for that bottle
Thanks for the support. I’m curious to see how many they put out, or if it’ll be somewhat limited given it’s an annual release.
God, I feel old. As soon as I heard weak in the knees I thought of SWV. Now regarding the bourbon. I think I’ll enjoy my C9 23. I’m gonna save my money for any other allocated drops coming up. Thanks for the honest and thorough review.
Lol! The good old days!
Great review, Cyn. I had a bottle of Valencia in hand on Saturday but ended up walking out the store empty-handed. I’m going to revisit and see if they have this one, as I am a sucker for age stated bourbons! Cheers!
Good call! Age stated is always nice. The Valencia is pretty decent though.
Nice review i have to pick up the knob 18 soon
Thanks for the support!
Purchase toasted EC.
It’s a great choice! Great in old fashions as well! Cheers!
Like the bottle display. Sorry for the Bengals. Detroit Lions.
Thanks for the support! WHO DEY!!!!!!
1920 is nice. 👍🏻
Have you tried 1910?
@ Not yet, still on a blitz of trying many brands. I will add to my list. How compared to 1920. Thx
You want to try a bit of a different blend go 60% 1920 30% 1910 and 10% OF 100 rye. And play around with those % and see what you like best. The rye adds a bit of spice and I believe makes it better. I let my blends sit for 4 months before I try them and the go till they are all settled down.
I’ll have to give your blend a try! I’ll let you know what I think. Cheers!
C923 was a special bottle considering only age and proof then you add the juice profile and you get a bottle that sold out quickly.
Agreed!!
I'm fascinated by the allocated bottles in other areas. ECBP and Buffalo Trace are not allocated in central Indiana. I'm sure there are bottles in your area that I can't find where I live.
Yep, the bourbon game is different everywhere! Buffalo Trace just recently moved off the allocated list, but we’re still restricted to one bottle per customer. They just put it out with the regular inventory weekly now.
Clicked just to say "no" hahaha. I still like C924 for what it is, an absolute caramel bomb with confectionary sugar and pretty well-balanced oak and char. It's simple and sweet, but it lacks the depth and red fruit the C923 had.
I'm with you! C923 is amazing!
Thanks for the vid, I appreciate seeing what different palates get from these special releases.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the review.
I recently came across your channel, I’m relatively new to bourbon but your video is solid. I’m definitely subscribing!!
Thanks for checking out the channel! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Awesome videos!!
Thanks for the support!!!!
Can’t wait to taste this 👀👌🏽 Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support! Let me know what you think!
Luckily this wasn’t allocated in VA and I was able to check inventory in the a.m. to get one.
Nice! They have most of the Bardstown expressions available. Typically they keep a few in stock due to price. Let me know if you like it.
