Been using the monk since 2015 or 16. Used to have the V1 one. It's the best monk for me. But unfortunately I broke it 😅. The other day I ordered the lite one with mic, going to use it for gaming and casual listening, and also I bought it over the Plus because of the size of the shell, the shell on the Plus hurts my ears, so hopefully the lite one will fix that 😁

Nice honest review ! I recently got interested with earbuds because my ears easily gets irritated with iem's. Like you, I was a bit apprehensive with earbuds because of the low fi looks but once I tried it I won't go back to iem's anymore. Not just for comfort but the sound is surprisingly at the iem level less some very deep bass which I don't mind at all. By the way, for my 1st earbuds I got 2. The Faaeal Irish Ancestor and the Headroom MS16 open back buds. I like both because of their neutral and clean sound, though the difference is that the Faaeal has a more extended and pronounced highs and a more forward sound with good bass. The MS16 is more laidback and sweeter sounding good for jazz and audiophile recordings. Also less fatiguing. But I love both. Planning to buy the much hyped Vido just for curiosity but as I can see in your vlog, the Faaeal is better, hmmm... By the way, I watched another reviewer and he mentioned to stay away from transparent bodied MX500 case because it has a bad effect on the sound regardless of the earbud model..
