Very nice, I wish there was a longer version of this. Perhaps scolding the terrible code first and afterwards pretending to manually compile it, calmly commenting and keeping track of the variables and functions.
Thanks! I may do something like that in a future video. It would be cool to have a live view of the code where I highlight the bits I'm talking about as I compile them.

I'm fine with satirizing politics in theory, but as a new channel, this is a poor choice. But, it seems that you got engagement, so maybe I'm just stupid
No, it's not just you. A few other people found this to be distasteful. I have absolutely no love for Putin, and I only meant this as a mockery of him. I totally get why someone wouldn't want to listen to this though and I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten about it, both positive and negative.

my story isn't special per se, but during covid lockdowns, I had a mental breakdown for the first (and still only) time in my life. I'd recently gotten into ASMR, but Gibi ASMR released a 30 minute black and white video that I literally rewatched for about 12 hours on day of release.
I'm sorry to hear that. 2020 was such a hard time for me as well. I know the B&W video you are talking about and I really loved it as well. I usually don't care much about the visual element of these videos, but somehow the black and white made it so much more relaxing.
Barry, you encapsulated entirely the first ASMR experience. I actually felt her blowing on my neck from your story. Please continue to do what you do.

I really don't understand why someone would come to your channel and complain about this. I fully get not being in a state to find it funny. That's fine. We all have a different sense of humor. I tend to embrace dark humor as a coping mechanism, (that I learned from my Ukrainian father for those who are keeping track of who is personally affected enough to have a valid opinion.) If I want to laugh at someone doing a sarcastic impression of a dictator, that's also a valid way to pull some of the terror out of the things he's doing and find some smiles in an otherwise bleak topic. Just like every smart-assed Ukrainian we saw in videos where they trolled invading troops, whether it be an old woman offering them directions back to Russian or Ukrainian farmers towing away Russian tanks. For crying out loud, the official social media of the Ukrainian Military Reserve is almost entirely memes mocking Putin and his military. A sarcastic Putin impersonation seems like a perfect way to honor their sacrifices. If anyone isn't comforted by joking about it, fine. That's valid. But complaining about it on what is very obviously a parody video strikes me a little like going to a Burger King and complaining that you don't like burgers. Just.. go someplace that has what you like and let the rest of us enjoy our Whoppers!

Full Disclosure: I did absolutely zero research into Putin's actual voice before recording this. I just put on my best Russian accent
This is a very questionable choice of subject for an asmr and this is probably the least calming asmr to have ever been produced. If Putins name should be mentioned in an asmr, it should be in a script about how he has suddenly slipped on a banana peel and died or something of the sort. Make an asmr about that and then describe how it has immediately lead to all Russian troops leaving Ukraine's soil within 48 hours and the war ending asap, and it would be a lot more soothing.
I have no love for Putin at all.This was meant to be a satire about this egomaniac warmonger and the Russian propaganda machine. For me, humor is a way of dealing with all the absurd and horrible things happening in our world. However, I totally understand that this is not a relaxing topic for most people, so I apologize if it landed wrong.
@@BarryToneASMR I understand that is what you were trying to do. I think you fall a bit short because it is just not possible to make light hearted satire about this. Satire yes but not lighthearted. And after 18 months of this misery my brain as a European is not in shape for taking in too much nuance.

I acknowledge that it's easy for me to sit here on the other side of the world and make jokes about Putin, while someone who is actually living there may find this video quite unpleasant. I guess my question to you is this: Is your problem with this video that you personally find it unpleasant to listen to, or are you offended that I would make something like this?
@@BarryToneASMR The problem is, again, the humor doesn't work because it doesn't grasp the seriousness of the situation. I personally didn't feel very good listening to it, that does not mean I am "offended" in any way. I am only expressing my opinion, not trying to police anyone.

Ah, I'm sorry about that. I'm definitely not a Putin fan myself. For me, dark humor is a way to deal with the absurdity of the horrible things happening in the world. It helps me not get depressed about these things. But I understand that this can bring up some negative feelings for other people. I'm sorry, that was not my intention.
@@BarryToneASMR I don't know how versed you are in the invasion of Ukraine and the specific details of war crimes being committed by Russian military forces, but those are not images I want to evoke. This is not a relaxing subject matter in the slightest. If I had to choose a subject matter for an ASMR video, I think roleplaying a dictator who is actively committing genocide would probably be dead last on my list of preferred topics.
@@VicViper9572 I hear you man. I unfortunately have a pretty personal attachment to the war. I had family in Mariupol and we were working tirelessly last year to get them out. I've been following the news closely and trust me, I have no love for Putin. For me, making this video was a coping mechanism. If you can satirize someone, you take away their power to make you angry. During WWII, Charlie Chaplin made a movie called the Great Dictator where he played Hitler. Back in 2016 when Trump got elected, a friend of mine made a Trump ASMR video and I loved the idea of roleplaying as this egomaniacal politician, so I was inspired to do the same thing here. For me personally, this kind of video can help me detach myself from the absurdity of our world and laugh at it. I understand that this is not a relaxing topic though, so I'm sorry if it landed wrong.
