When I was on fb about 5 years ago, a child support topic had come up on a post. I commented that "Men shouldn't have to pay child support for a child that's not there's, and when found out the mom should have to pay that money back!" Only women chimed in with their two cents of Wrongness! I'm a woman, and that $hitz wrong, and the state is wrong. The American government will make up any reason to lock blk men up.

This is why it should be a law in every state that a DNA test is conducted within the 1st 6 months of the child’s birth. Married or not the state pays for it & if the child isn’t the fathers the mother pays it back that would stop a lot of paternity fraud. Now if it turns out the child is his he pays that back monthly payments along with the child support.

The full story of Carnell Alexander. In 1989 a woman was applying for state welfare benefits. A condition of her application as a single mother in Michigan is that she sue the father of her child for child support, so she falsely listed him. A condition of any civil suit is that the defendant be properly served notice of that suit along with a date/time for a court hearing. The state received signed paperwork from a process server claiming he'd been served at his old address. But this was a lie. Not only was he not residing at that address, he was incarcerated at the exact time they claim he was served. He never received the notice, thus never showed up in court for a hearing so they defaulted on him, and he became literally a "father by default". Since he was unaware of all this, he did not pay any child support and became deadbeat dad legally, which he didn't learn until he was arrested during a traffic stop in the early 90's and began his legal fight. . He told them he was not a father, submitted a DNA test which showed he was not the father, and could prove that he was never served notice to fight the "father by default" status, but the state of Michigan was undeterred. Over the years he was subject to wage garnishment, tax offsets, license suspension, and arrest warrants and eventual jail time. After his story became international news in early 2015, the Michigan AG finally dismissed the whole child support case, but inexplicably tried to force him to pay the $30k of accumulated debt (which he never owed in the first place). Some attorneys helped him fight this, and eventually the debt was erased in late 2015. To add one more insult, the state claimed they did it because he'd requested it in writing (he did not), and they were just doing it to be nice because of his "situation". The state admitted zero fault for destroying this man's life.
