Video taken Saturday March 13th, 2021 Video just shows how easy it is to remove coolant drain plug in the sense that you don't need a huge amount of torque (or two hands) like on some cars. You need a Philips screwdriver size #2 or larger. Photo album: imgur.com/a/BapZ8fB

I made this video because people were posting [Amazon] reviews that this would barely fit a 12 gauge extension cable. In this video I show that it fits a 10 gauge extension cable with room to spare! I was reading reviews on Amazon for several weatherproof cord protectors and the reviews kept saying they wouldn't fit 12 gauge extension cords. After about 30 minutes of reading reviews and not kno...
The OEM oil filter is made by Mahle, and so is the housing and cooler
Thanks for your detailed explanation..
just what i needed...thank you!
Thank you for this
did you get the part number ? and think you for the ved
@@kasr201 There is no part number for the pre filter. I updated the video description a while ago. It's just the cabin air filter in the United States. Not sure if it's different in Korea.
I know back in 1924 they didn't have "talkies" yet and it was still the silent film era, but I believe it is now 2024.
Quick one: why are you doing this yourself? Isn’t supposed to be done by the service center?
You only get a certain amount of free oil changes in the 5 year bumper to bumper. Second, Genesis of Cherry Hill service is booked out for more than a month as of Friday 5/31/24. Third, the closest genesis standalone dealer is the one in Bel Air, MD and I don't want to drive two hours / 70 miles one way for an oil change. Fourth, I do my own oil changes so some new tech doesn't mess up the car and so I know it was done right (not some guy giving the oil drain plug ugga duggas, and using the right engine oil and not 5W-30 which is considered a severe driving condition). This oil was changed at 261 miles a day after driving it home from the dealership. Some may consider early (people who do early first oil changes to account for engine break/wear metals on oil typically do it after 500 miles). However, oil is cheap in the long run and I want this car to last as long as possible. Doing your own maintenance is worth it to the people who care. If anything, it lets you have a better idea of how your car works and you are more likely to catch problems early if you're the type to DIY and check your oil regularly. Of course there are hack DIY-ers, but you get the point. Lastly, DIY does not void your warranty (how could it) and it is actually illegal for manufacturers to try and do this. I am not rebuilding a transmission or engine however, I know my limits.
@@jkxss Thanks
I would not trust a Hyundai/Genesis dealer to use a top quality motor oil. They will put the cheapest motor oil they can find, usually not even to Hyundai or Genesis specs and it many times it will be done by high schools kids working in the oil change bays. Many of the Genesis dealers are nothing more than glorified Hyundai dealers using the same service departments. I have a 2009 Hyundai Genesis and do all my own oil changes, except for one done at a dealer (which they f'ed up). My 2009 3.8L V6 engine with 78K miles doesn't use any oil in-between oil changes (fortunately this was before GDI was introduced and ruined most engines). I use Mobil 1 Extended Protection 5W-30. 5W-20 and below is designed for maximum fuel economy, not for engine longevity.
@@Mark-rw3kwthis may apply in US, here in Dubai I deal with Genesis directly, no middle man in between
@@normanbataille8865 It's not exactly a "middle man" for US Genesis dealers, its just that all Genesis dealers are also Hyundai dealers (due to a lawsuit filed by Hyundai dealers against Genesis when they first split from Hyundai in 2015). The original 2009-2014 Genesis models were sold by Hyundai dealers as a Hyundai Genesis in the USA, before the separate Genesis brand was created. I own a 2009 Hyundai Genesis (only has 78,000 miles). Therefore many Genesis dealers share the same shop (although not all) as their affiliated Hyundai dealer, but they all share the same mentality and that is screw the consumer by using the cheapest bulk oil they can find. Historically in the USA, Hyundai has been the brand for consumers that couldn't afford a Toyota or Honda and were first time car buyers, so most Hyundai dealers treat their customers like garbage. The USA Genesis owners manual is vague about what motor oil to use, and actually allows semi-synthetic blend (instead of full synthetic) so long as the severe maintenance schedule is used, and I am sure many Genesis dealers just go ahead and use semi-synthetic blend with normal maintenance schedule. Plus, they use bulk oil, which means they usually have only have one viscosity in stock, even though different engines may specify different viscosities. I don't doubt that things are different in Dubai, and that even includes that the Genesis model trim levels, colors, options, and prices are different outside of the USA.
mind blowing 🤔🤯
Where is cylinder five at??? Is it on the top driver side or the passenger side?? I have this code p0305 cylinder fiver misfire
No idea, sorry
Sorry that it took so long to get a good shot of the torque wrench in action. Looking back I should have set up the tripod up before and used a pulling motion instead of watching the camera while trying to push down at an odd angle...
Hey, saw you reply to my comment over on kappy's badge tier list vid. I'm not sure where I'd even be able to upload my save files at lol. Do you have discord?
Hey! Sorry, never saw the notification for your comment. You can message me on discord, my username is jkxs
Do you have to remove the entire front mud cover before accessing the drain plug?
Yes, check description imgur link
Where is this underneath the car driver's side or passenger?
Front Passenger side. You can tell by the inside wheel face
@@jkxss thanks for the heads up 👍. However there is a big plastic cover underneath the front end of my subaru and when I look underneath I don't see any screw or plug marked "coolant"
@@manbundude422 Check out the imgur link in description. Sorry, don't really see notifications for comments on my videos.
Wow. What an elaborate and detailed write up. I need to change mine ASAP. Shall use this guide. Could have spoke tho lol. It’s alright
lol, don't forget the plenum gasket, part # should be in description
@@jkxssthats a separate part to buy besides the spark plugs ? Also while I'm changing spark plugs do you recommend doing anything else regarding a tune up? I hear things of coil packs and wires.....
@@MastermindRell I wouldn't change ignition coils or wiring unless you're having an issue.
What type of spark plugs did you use can you finish the video
It's shown in 1:06. What do you mean finish the video? There's no point recording removing/inserting a spark plug and using a torque wrench.
@@jkxss I'm sorry I was too busy looking at the wrenches and equipment to use. No need to get upset great video

I guess silent movies making a comeback
Those cicadas were the opposite of silent!
Important note: Remember to disconnect negative terminal from battery post in the rear trunk before starting this. Josh Rode on the 2009 - 2014 Genesis owners & car enthusiasts Facebook group (facebook.com/groups/540434536329764/) let me know that the plenum gaskets need to be replaced. At first, I thought the gaskets were sandwiched inside the box I am lifting at 6:26, but I was wrong. Thank you for letting me know! I wish the service manual I have mentioned this... I got mine (2012 - 3.8 GDI_Complete.zip ) from genesisowners.com/genesis-forum/threads/service-manuals.18309/#post-209893 You can see where the plenum gaskets go in the diagram at 1:53 (one that shows the oil cap/driver side spark plugs) directly above the "A" (three oval-shaped things). It is the white-colored thing at 4:16 that has oil on it in between the two screws (4:36 and 4:38). Hyundai part numbers: Ignition coil bolt part # (buy 6 of these to replace all ignition coil bolts): 1141706256K Plenum gasket part # (buy 3 of these every spark plug change): 282153CDA0 Photo album of the two Hyundai parts: imgur.com/a/MKURlQh
