Life in remission as a health coach | Living with IBD | CrohnsCast
Are you on any medication currently?
currently since having my j-pouch I have not had to take any medication for approximately 5 years. Though a j-pouch comes with its on complications, my immune system seems to be functioning normally or at least not in a way that is obviously detrimental to my quality of life. Other non-emergency symptoms still present are ridged nails, sporadic infrequent skin irritation and occasional joint pain which all have relations to autoimmune diseases such as crohns and colitis etc.
Indeterminate? Havent they done a biospsie?
hi thanks for comment, yes they have done biopsies and the result was indeterminate due to disease presenting in the large intestine only it was deemed indeterminate, should it flare again then it will be diagnosed as crohns due to my no longer having a large intestine leaving that the sole possible diagnosis
I was diagnosed with crohn disease last year Do u think I can join the USA army because that’s one of my goal make my parents proud
I know in Europe the British Army will assess this on a case by case basis and look at the management and stability of the IBD. I talk a little below about my experience and thoughts but ultimately if this is a goal for you I would definitely ask at a recruiting office, they can only say no, and will most definitely be best placed to inform you OK US Army policy 💜 my circumstances were very lucky as I was already a senior NCO and no longer in a front line active role after transferring to work in exercise rehabilitation and so my army was happy to retain me if I could demonstrate my condition was well managed the difficulty with IBD is how unpredictable it can be and you wouldn't want to be stuck in a foreign country with limited access to medical care and become a liability to your team due to a flare and it would be very dangerous for us as well as it could result in a perforated bowel...
@@CrohnsCast damm so that’s a no
it's not a No, I would definitely speak to your recruiter as if your IBD is not well atm it might be better in the future and meet their criteria for entry also the US has very different entry requirements for their services and trade groups so definitely worth asking
@goarmy
I want to join the British army when I’m older but I have Crohn’s I looked in the army website and it said it might stop me from joining But I’m not 100% sure if I can. Do you think I can?
Hi Corey, this is something you should definitely talk over at one of our recruitment centres (virtually at the moment). It will really depend on how well you are and how controlled the disease is. Any decision would be based on medical risk based on your IBD current and recent history (4-5 years). That said I have not got the ability to fully answer if you would be successful or not, definitely reach out to a recruitment team for accurate and honest advice buddy
@@CrohnsCast thank you I will do that 👍
pleasure buddy and good luck
Awesome series you're doing, man!

25.30 the girl really did describe what depression first felt like for me....the piece when she mentioned that she was st the dolphin show, but had little interest. it's difficult for some to access doctors, nurses, cbt, therapists and other resources...for financial and other reasons
I'm so glad this was able to provide some insight for you and hopefully helped in some way. its true I believe that depression is difficult to understand for those not suffering 💜💜💜
I hope you are able to get the support you need, that is a lot to come at you in quick succession
CrohnsCast There is no support for that this series of stuff. a doctor can heavily medicate and that's about it. It's all over.
have you heard of ACT? its a therapy I have utilised and it really helped me
CrohnsCast not much that can do for a lost family and missing child and lost livelihood. bills can't be paid without livelihood etc. I don't see how a therapist will sort things
What a guy. Talk about getting on top of his life. fair play.
I couldn’t even play cricket with ulcerative colitis let alone rugby. Hope life’s good for him now. Great podcast
life is going great with Trey, working towards selection for Team USA 7s Rugby

Another great interview. Thank you both

Lovely. Precious moments & memories

so true bud
Congratulations! Great video!
thanks bud
Thank you for pointing out the diet is different for everyone. Its a frustrating point but its the truth.
definitely bud, we can look at what others do but there are no guarantee that you will get the same results... you could get better results or worse results but tweaking it to your needs boom
My biggest challenge after all the surgeries, withering and scaring of the digestive tract due to Crohn's is finding high nutrient foods I can actually digest without threat of pain or blockages. I have to rely on a lot of supplements now and I always worry about absorbing enough of what my body actually NEEDS to stay as healthy as possible.
that is definitely a truth of the disease bud
Congratulations!!!
I had difficulty with the sound on here could barely hear until the interview started
Thanks bud, will check it out

Whoa! TWO surgeries in 3 months?? Yikes!! I hope he has a full recovery.
He is doing really well atm, I am working with him daily in the exercise rehab, we have all our fingers and toes crossed we get it right (def in as good a place we can put him)
Great interview! Ijmal is super positive and a great advocate!! Keep up the great work.
He is such a fantastic role model and keeps things grounded
Great video man. Only note I’d add is that the backing music is dead distracting. Keep up the great videos
Thanks so much for the feedback bud, do you think it would be better without the music, quieter or different music?
Johnathon Gray I’d imagine it’s like anything, just down to personal preference. For me no music. Normal UA-cam videos benefit from music but a podcast is more listening to an on going dialogue. Cheers dude 👍🏻
Cheers, I will keep that in mind for the upcoming episodes... I feel you are right, the dialogue here is more important and should be the focus. Thanks bud
great video! IBD warrior here as well
So glad to meet you! What was your favorite part?

@@CrohnsCast, sorry work kept me from being to watch the full episode until just now. I loved hearing the story of his diagnosis. His journey, thoughts and feelings mirror a lot of my own. I would love to watch more of these. This is great content and shows people that ostomies are NOT the end of your life. I would like more details on how he approaches his lifting to get around some of the challenges the bag approaches. Thank you so much to both of you for this video. Looking forward to many more to come.
hey buddy thanks so much for commenting, I will pass this onto JP and no doubt could be the start of a return to the show

Can't wait to share your story Jospeh...
Great video, really good points raised. I think its a great idea to change the focus from heavy lifting to endurance training to keep that competitive element.
Cheers bro, it has really worked for John but that's not to say its the only way! Your good self being proof of that
Hey. Firstly I want to say your doing an amazing job so please dont be so hard on yourself, remember that if you have helped 1 ,ONLY 1 person alone not feel like there dealing with this by them self you are winning!!, remember everyone that tunes in knows how exhausting this disease can be and on top of that editing videos is not easy either I can vouch for that, so keep doing what your doing and keep smashing it 💪💜,Massive congratulations for baby no2 xx
Hey thanks so much for watching! thank you for the advice it really does make it worth while if just 1 person finds it and it makes a difference

So informative! Getting back into the gym with IBD is tough and can be discouraging.
You are so right. It can feel so difficult! Exercise doesn't always need to be hard, as sometimes what we take for granted can be so difficult during a flare or a bad episode, understanding that is the key message, just getting up and taking a 5 min stroll outside could be a limiter busting session. If we could help one person understand that that is ok and in the macro it will improve then I am so happy
I would love to hear your story, and your thoughts on exercise bud! and thanks
