Scene of Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones singing "If I Loved You." But somehow I can see Just exactly how I'd be If I loved you, Time and again I would try to say All I'd want you to know. If I loved you, Words wouldn't come in an easy way Round in circles I'd go! Longin' to tell you, But afraid and shy, I'd let my golden chances pass me by! Soon you'd leave me, Off you would go in the mist of ...

Cheers 🍻 brought me here.
Imagine this at Anfield
EVERYONE Needs to Go listen to Elvis' version of this song. It will have you sobbing CRYING. BEAUTIFULLLLLLLL❤❤❤❤
I’m going to something called solo-fest and you sing a song for a judge and get a rating. This is my solo and it is so beautiful to sing. And the end I go up to a high G and I love it! It’s so pretty and my teacher thinks the song is a perfect fit for my voice.
This is a Masterpiece of all time! IT's a pity to know that all those actors/singers and actress/singers in the actuallity all them are dead, they are not in this Earth and they left to us a wonderful and beautiful musical film like this jewel called Carousel 1956... it puts tears in all the people that have seen this outstanding wonderful Masterpiece... Gordon MacRae was very amazingly handsome, and Shirley Jones was the woman most beautiful over the Earth as well and all the rest of characters were impressing in all sense! To say to all them God be with them and thankful for this beautiful legacy of film Carousel... Rest in Peace all of you... and the end of Carousel brings me to tears Once more 😭
Barbara Ruick was John Williams', the famous composer, wife at the time of her untimely death in 1974
Very beautiful movie "Carousel" 1956 and music score! Love love love! Cannot believe no one has visitied this in 5 yerars what a shame! Masterpiece! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing and exceedingly beautiful! Thank you so much! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Extremely emotional and very beautifully acted. This song "If I Love You" and the masterpiece music score is eternal! No movie does to me what this one does. LOVE is the greatest of all things. ❤❤❤Semper Fi USMC '75 - '81
Apart from this song there was nothing good in this movie . He was sick bastard who hit his wife, his little daughter , committed felonies and then died. Good riddance in my opinion.
Leslie😢😢
Wow, still gets me this movie !
What a beautiful singer and gorgeous song. Wish we had music like that now instead of the current #$%@. Cheryl Wagner
Lovely Shirley Jones was just 22 years old when she did this movie, and was singing like a pro with many more years experience. Amazing stuff
I love this Movie
I am so very sorry that this song means a lot to you, for such an awful reason (it means a lot to me, for a bad reason: but so very much less from yours, so I won’t do the self-pity sh*te), so… there’s little I CAN do, but send Big, very BIG ‘Ug from me to you
This is at the end of Carousel!? My granddaughter played the main female role in this play at our local drama theater!!!💞💝
This is a sad, yet beautiful song. Makes me cry every every time. 😭
That was my mom favorite movie on Thanksgiving day and she sing along with the movie cause she play them on the piano now that my ex husband passed away last week I feel like I know how Shirley felt when billy died and I can hear my mom singing and that song
Nothing quite like the original
“Believe Connie Believe!” Believe that Liverpool can win the FA Cup!
👍🙏❤️😭
The incomparable Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Cantado como um hino tambem no Brasil.
How he can sing this without bursting into tears is beyond me
I agree. Extremely emotional and very beautifully acted. This song If "I Love You" and the masterpiece music score is eternal! No movie does to me what this one does. LOVE is the greatet of all things. ❤❤❤Even Marines get emotional. Semper Fi USMC '75 - '81
If I Loved You, Soliloquy, and You'll Never Walk Alone all in the same movie. It doesn't get any better than that!
Susan Luckey who played Louise Bigelow was only 4 years younger than Shirley Jones. Unfortunately she passed in 2012 from liver failure. She was 74. Shirley Jones is still alive and will turn 90 in March 2024 ❤
About Hungary, from Ferenc Móra's play Liliom.
The ending of the musical is one of the most brilliant and rousing songs I ever saw. The version I saw was a touring production and it was the last thing Cyril cusack did. Billy Bathgate was played by micheal praed. Tremendous musical performer
Little did they know how much this song would mean to sports fans YNWA, Up the reds 🔴⚪️
❤😢❤
The Carousel is an adoptation of a hungarian play "Lily" by Ferenc Molnár, written in 1909. The original play takes place in Budapest, but it was so popular, that was introduced in New York and London. It was then, when Oscar Hammerstein noticed it, who received the rights for the musical adoptation from Ferenc Molnár....
Molnár helped Rogers and Hammerstein to adapt Liliom into Carousel too. And he loved the end result.
November 2023 and this song makes me cry so much at the state of the world. Peace and freedom for everyone.
Heartbreaking. Beautiful colour and cinematography.
One of just two films made in the CinemaScope 55 format. This used a 8 perf negative format on 55.625 mm film stock. This gave a frame size about twice the linear size, four times the area, of standard 35 mm CinemaScope. The frame size was even about 1.4 times the area of a 65 mm Todd-AO negative. Release prints were on standard 35 mm CinemaScope. There was a proposed wide film print format with the frame size reduced to about 75% of the negative , with a 6 perf pulldown and the width thus made available used for stereo magnetic sound tracks. This format was never used. I don’t know if the original 55.625 mm negatives still exist, and whether they could be scanned, but If they could it would be interesting to see what a good 4K DCP made from them would look like; I’ve only ever seen the film as a dirty and scratched 35 mm print with mono optical sound. The other CinemaScope 55 film by the way was The King and I.
This is my favourite parts of the movie. I'd love to hear the Sinatra version - Sinatra was originally cast as Billy Bigelow and the whole soundtrack was recorded first so the actors could lip-sync to it. But Sinatra quit soon after filming began and was replaced by Gordon Macrae, who had to re-record Billy's singing. The Sinatra version has never been released as far as I know, but it must exist somewhere.
Thank God he quit. He would have made a terrible BILLY.
@@lennon1252 Agree 100000000%
Yeah i can't imagine seeing him as Julie's love interest@@lennon1252
Are the Valkyries usually female? Valhalla!
👍 Beautiful. 🖖 ❤
The only thing I didn’t like about this scene was when she was saying it’s possible for someone to hit you hard and it not hurt… you know that was written by a man, wanting women to feel like if their husbands hit them, it was supposed to feel like a kiss. Give me a break 😂
That song is beautiful. It makes me want to cry.
It was nice to learn this was considered the best by Hammerstein himself. I am in total agreement🎉
this beutifull song is clasic
I like the music 🎶
to my personal onlline critic, enjoy.
When you walk thru a storm Wear your rainproof!
Perfect!!! Thank you !
Shirley Jones is legendary!
My brain doesn't know how to process movie footage shot & played at 30fps.
Interesting, Billy's spirit casts a shadow when leaving in front of Shirley Jones.
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was another film featuring the actor who played Kris Kelvin in Tarkovsky's Solaris (Donatas Banionis).
What a fantastic song I didn’t know it was first written in 1945 I’ve only known the Gerry & the Pacemakers version from the 1960s
Yes it was in a corny movie called carousel.
Go listen to Elvis' sing this song. He won a Grammy for it. PHENOMENAL. BEST VERSION I EVER HEARD
@ Amazing ! just listened to it thanks
