R&A Collaborations - Craft Journeys
United Kingdom
Приєднався 16 бер 2018
R&A Collaborations came about by accident and we fell into the wonderful World of Craft. Over the last six and half years we've travelled far and wide working with skilled and artistic makers to help tell their stories of why they do what they do. Whether its Ceramicists, Jewellers, Wood Turners or Textile Designers we've covered many areas of the handmade. We've been lucky enough to get insights into so many processes have have visited many fascinating studio spaces.
We hope you enjoy our films, thanks Richard & Arron

The Tension of Opposites - Julie Fewster
Inner Finn Ceramics was born as huge flakes of snow drifted down from the Finnish sky and in a moment of extreme clarity, showing her that this, this clay business, was where she needed to spend her time. Julie had no idea what she would be making and selling then, but that's when she committed.
Julie works towards the pleasure she sees on people’s faces when they handle her pieces; the smooth tactility of her work somehow soothing away some of their troubles. There's a little piece of the maker in every handmade piece of work. And as the maker what she's trying to pass on is that connection with that still, quiet space within, for just a moment, and for you to find a moment of calm in this busy world, to restore yourself just momentarily before you move on to the next thing.

Linda Bloomfield is inspired by lichens that grow on trees and rocks. Lichens are affected by air pollution and are indicators of clean air. She has made a series of forms showing the tangible effects of air pollution on lichens. The series starts with grey forms covered in lichen-effect glazes, becoming gradually darker with fewer lichens until they are eventually black and barren. lindabloomf...
Sarah Brown - Good Enough To Eat
Переглядів 178Рік тому
It’s the first lockdown and several weeks have passed in my house perfecting yet another recipe to put on someone's door step and I begin to wonder if I can make cakes in glass. Cake for me has far more significance than just something to eat, it’s the invitation to sit with friends or family and chat, that gift to tell someone you’re thinking of them and that opportunity to just, pause. A symb...

Adventure and intrigue capture Kate's imagination. The found and treasured dead animals she uses in her jewellery are a celebration of life as much as they are of death. They evoke questions and illuminate your curiosity, conjuring fantastical tales.
