It's hard to find the words that can do justice or fully describe this avant garde masterpiece... it's something absolutely different and beautiful, that doesn't fit to any known musical category, school or genre... Well, what else can I say ? Only that I really LOVE your work ! P. S.: I'm just sharing !

I first heard Shannon Hayden in 2016 when she was the warm-up act for another performer at Philly's World Cafe Live. She should have been the headliner. I was so stunned at the musical leaps she took during her entire performance that I stood through the whole thing. I bought every CD she offered at her merch table and I recommend them all: You See The World, Ancient Ways, Pieces of The Sun, Solid State Cello. It's rare to find a young musician who has invented a new music. (Look up her credentials. This is one highly educated woman who found her own path after a graduate program at Yale.) If you get a chance to see her, don't miss it -- one musician making all that sound with electronics assisting her -- but she's doing it all LIVE in front of you. Putting aside her musical and songwriting talents, her mastery of the technology she employs is a thing to marvel at. I'm not surprised she was featured at the Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music & Acoustics. I remember attending a CCRMA "concert" outdoors one summer night up in the hills behind Stanford U. Massive cables ran through a throng of people sitting on blankets on the hillside, from a building that housed the super-computers that produced/performed all the music in real time. (This was a big deal at the time -- 1984?) The whole experience made me realize the new potential of music -- and that musical potential is now realized in Shannon Hayden. She brings such artistry to her music that the technology that powers her expression is just a curiosity. Her talent and songwriting shine through her performances. I'm off to find tickets!

As a 74 years old ( non professional ) "prog-melodic-'avant garde' " guitarist and composer, I "casually" came across this haunting performance about one hour ago, have already watched it several times, and quickly visited Shannon's channel... I never had heard about her before... Initially I became puzzled and speechless, but finally I could understand it and write these few lines... No doubt, one of the most impressive and innovative performances I've seen lately... Truly amazing !
