    What if your child is very intelligent, how would they qualify for a scholarship if they are not in a school setting?

    • @RawParentingPodcast
      @RawParentingPodcast 3 дні тому

      @@tracyknopp5454 great question! I believe you would still have to use a government program base of some sort. You are still teaching them what they need to know and they would still have to test and such. It would be strange if homeschool kids were exempt from scholarships. But thank you for asking! Definitely something we didnt think about and will for sure look into!

    Listening further, yes it is hard to flip a switch and be the teacher. But you are smart enough, and you can do it! There are tons of resources out there to help guide you! Getting started and setting a routine is probably the hardest part. (If you want a routine) As far as socializing, there are tons of other ways to do that within arts and sports as well as other moms and maybe homeschool groups that get together once a week.

      @@heatherperry2176 haha, that is a big aspect we fear… being teachers rather then parents. But it kind of goes hand-in-hand doesn’t it? In a way? Thank you for your confidence in us 😂 We have heard good things about the resources out there now available for homeschooling! Phew. It’s crazy how much homeschooling has increased percentage wise over the past several years that is for sure! Thank you for watching our video and your helpful comments!!

    I have 4 children and three of them were or are still being homeschooled. My oldest went all the way through and graduated high school at a tech school. My middle two were pulled out around 3-4 grade and then asked to go back to school for high school. One currently is still in high school and the other opted to leave in the 10th grade and finish at home. And my fourth has been homeschooled from the beginning and is currently being homeschooled. My experience has taught me a lot about the different changes a child goes through either in or out of the public school system. I agree with both of you on your stances and appreciate you both discussing this! Personally I have sided with the homeschool avenue. I want my children to be independent thinkers and not be indoctrinated on whatever is going on politically at the time. I find public school is greatly influenced by whatever is going on at the time as far as political movements. For instance with the DEI movement, schools were given funding if they excepted this policy which inherently goes down the line and affects the children. I only know this because I was actually on the board of education for a period of time and this was one of the issues that came up. Now with the current administration that has gone into office, this DEI policy that was excepted now has to be replaced because it doesn’t follow the current administrations ideals. So all of the children that were raised in the public school system with this policy in place have a different view than those who will not have this policy in place. It’s sad that instead of school focusing on education, they focus on indoctrination. I feel if you can and have the means to do so then one should opt to raise their child in the family setting and not the school setting. Unfortunately I know that not many people can do that due to both parents having to work.

      @@heatherperry2176 wow Heather, thank you so much for your comment! Thank you for all the valuable information and confirming our thoughts on the whole thing. It’s nice to know that you have factual information regarding how the school district makes decisions. We completely agree that schooling has nothing to do with actual education but rather enforcing their own agendas onto our kids and it is pretty startling. We should be raising independent children just like you said. We just feel like it’s nothing but raising sheep - as we like to put it haha. It’s nice to hear that you have the same mindset and we aren’t over thinking this whole thing to much. Thank you for sharing your story with us, it truly means a lot!

    What do you think about how much more advanced televisions have become in the last 30 years. Do you think a boxy, fuzzy, 48in 90s TV was less stimulating than a 60in 4K OLED TV?

    • @RawParentingPodcast
      @RawParentingPodcast 2 місяці тому

      great question as technology gets more advanced TVs are becoming more real life every few years, in my opinion even a 48in 90s TV would be less stimulating than TVs now. Fun fact TVs in the 50s/60s are called boob tube because boob was an old slang for someone who is simpleminded. The idea of "boob tube" is a form of entertainment for those who are unintelligent. The fact that you did Ferber/ Cry it out with your kids, it's fine. Sleep training is for the parents. Even you say that ("the bags had to go"). But saying that you'll give good advice and then say that "you should force the baby to take the pacifier and if they don't put a towel to block it" is wild. Babies have a natural reflex to throw up. So basically you're blocking the way out. And no, that fact that you're watching the naps, doesn't help. There is no indication that baby will throw up. They just do. Also, babies like to move their head. Overall it is a very bad advice. Also the swaddle it is recommended to be used until 8 weeks or until baby gives the first sign of rolling. Rolling can also happen at night. 🚩"we have two different kids so our information is right" is just survival bias. You based your bad information on two kids out of what? That is just info that worked for you.🚩

    • @RawParentingPodcast
      @RawParentingPodcast 4 місяці тому

      Hey, thanks for your constructive comment! We obviously did not clarify the soother aspect when we said we used a towel to help hold it in. When we say this we meant that it helped prop up the soother if it started to fall out. At no point did we state that it was forced to stay in. If we had a prop it would mean that our children could easily, on their own, suck it back up without help. Our girls as newborns could barely lift their heads. So yes, babies do like to move their heads but not at such a young age, which is also why it’s recommended to switch the side their heads are laying on during the newborn stage. We appreciate your comment about reflux and completely agree that if you know this about your children then you should be cautious for sure. However, sucking actually helped our girls with this. Overall regarding the soother, it was very clearly mentioned that you can choose other soothing options and we stated this was an unprofessional hack. You are also correct that rolling can happen at any point. Which is why we mentioned that we even stopped swaddling our baby months before she started rolling because we thought she may roll early. It was just mentioned that newborns like to be swaddled because they feel safe. It was never said that you do this for as long as possible, or anything regarding being unsafe.

 Again, your constructive criticism is welcome but overall, it seems like you are putting words in our mouths. Our information was based on the fact of yes, our two kids who were just completely different newborns. The fact that it worked for both kids regardless, has some weight to it, in our eyes. You are free to disagree.
