Does anyone know what was really making that squeaking noise? It sounds like someone had their tools and was fixing a big instrument or something...

I've listened to this fairly frequently - I love the performance - I never noticed that the crowd (?) response seems pretty muted. Was anyone there? Are they really hard to please?

Hello there, TRULY AMAZINGLY PERFORMED- I am currently studying for my diploma and haven't come across a player with such elegance! I am after the music of this movement 2 (and piano accompaniment too!) for a local slow melody competition and was wondering if you had any idea of where I could get this from??!

There are two ways of thinking of legato. The fast way like you said, or the Jay Friedman way that actually is slower.

@trombonema: The legato is a combination of a really good air flow and a fast and accurate slide action all that with a very gentle tonguing. You see, its a bit complicated to explain here. Basically: Practise a lot and study with a really good teacher. What also helps is to listen to a lot of really great singers: Fritz Wunderlich, Jussy Björling, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Pavarotti and so on. Listen to them, hear what they do and try to copy that. That is what I did a lot. Good luck!

@CookmanT: It's a custom made Greg Black mouthpiece he made for me in 1994! About the size of a 4G but different. I am still playing on it and Greg is on working on a new one right now.
