Daily listing is a myth. I had 11 months straight without listing a single nee item, and sales were consistent week in, week out.
Thanks for your comment Pete, been watching your videos for a while, that’s interesting because I’ve had the opposite experience, when I stopped listing daily my sales dropped and when I started again my sales increased, this is several times over 6 years and I’ve heard other people say the same with them too, that’s nice and reassuring to hear you had consistent sales though for a such a long time, thanks again!
Another way to look at this is… £371 per month x 10 years at 4% compound interest is £55k.
That’s a better way of looking at it for sure! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment appreciate it 👍
ace videos, just found your page real honest content keep it up Jay 😊
Thanks Jim, I don’t upload often on here but when I do I always try and show the ups and downs! 😅 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, appreciate it!
Are you a registered business seller? In the end the hours you have to put in just to produce an average take home wage of £400-500 per week becomes ludicrous if you are honest with yourself.
Yes I’m a registered business seller, yeah I can see where you are coming from!
I’d look at your figures differently. If your profit was £800 on items sold, what was the cost of goods for the items sold? Because that then surely accounts for the money needed for cost of goods during the month, so in reality you’re doing better than you think. I just look at total payouts - total spent 😊
What causes your packaging cost to be high? I’m a clothing seller and at 100 items per month I’d be spending max £10 on supplies
I was doing that originally but then found I had less money in my payouts than I thought, so doing it this way I’m accounting for everything and it seems to be a better representation (for me)
It was high that month because I bought two bundles of cardboard boxes small parcel sizes off eBay, I’m not going to do that again I get my boxes for free from work now 👍 I’m an everything seller so I need a few different bits of packaging, thank you for watching and leaving the comments appreciate it!
Sounds like you might need to look at average selling price of your items if you did 98 sales in a month, maybe try to find a different kind of items to sell that command a higher average selling price, you could focus on buying job lots which will bring your cost of goods price per listing down rather than purchasing items individually.
Yeah that’s good advice, Thanks for your comment!
Hi. 800 quid wasn't your profit then. I urge u not to stop but drive on. Keep going. My suggestion is stop subscribing to ebay. My packing materials are almost zero you can get free stuff everywhere. Then maybe look at the quality of goods and the price you pay. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I’ve stopped buying cardboard boxes I get them from work now, and I go to car boots closer to home so I save on petrol, it might be worth me doing that actually as I only have 65 items listed atm, thank you for the advice appreciate it 👍
Happy to have across your channel and love the content I’m cracking on with selling on eBay and enjoying the ride
Thank you for the kind words and watching and leaving a comment, good to hear keep it up! 👍
I loved Sabrina as a kid. I even have the dvds myself. I think it’s on a streaming service now though, can’t remember if it’s Disney+ or prime or something. But great little haul! Those Disney mugs sell well. I bought an eeyore one from the charity shop and it sold within a couple days. Hope to see a new vid soon as always! Take care 😊
Thanks Stephanie! Yeah the Disney 3D mugs people always want, I’ve noticed with the mugs and plushes the villains always do well too think they are a bit more uncommon 👍 Sabrina was on Amazon prime for a while but it’s been taken off it now I think, will do thank you as always, if you start your channel please let me know I’ll definitely watch!
Hope you have a good week
Thank you, you too! 👍
id put the united shirt on for 17.95 FREE POST but saying that, if it only cost a quid put on for 14.99 and get fast sale.. another good video anyway mate,
Good idea I might do that mate don’t normally do free postage but it might help it sell quicker, thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Hi, how much do you want for the sabrina dvds
Hi, probably £18 all in? Thanks for watching!
Good vid m8 keep going 😊

I've been struggling with sales... about 1 or 2 a week... glad I still have my full time day job. have a good week.
Thanks you too! Yeah it’s hard at the moment I’m glad I have my job too, just keep it up and do what you can, thanks for leaving a comment!
Bricks and mortar traditional businesses expect to take 3 years to break into actual profit. Assessing and finding solutions is always a good thing. Strategy and plans. Trial and error. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders Thank you for sharing the reality
That’s interesting I’ve heard something similar that 80% of small businesses go under within 3 years, so that makes a lot of sense! Definitely it’s important to adjust and pivot if something isn’t working, appreciate that thank you! I’ll always be honest and say it how it is 👍 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Buy more list more sell more with eBay you get out what you put in I list 30 items a day and sell around 600 items a month there’s still plenty of money to be made on eBay if your willing to put in the graft
I would love to list 30 items a day but can’t find the stock to be able to do so, (that isn’t eBay’s fault!) thanks for the comment
Don't forget if you buy stuff from a bootsale you can't actually claim that on your tax returns as a cost, unless you have a receipt for it
Thank you for leaving a comment, this reselling business is a tough nut to crack!
@@JayBranno9 I'm in the same boat, I'm reselling myself, just started and doing about 5800, 90 day total, just stopped selling whilst I sort out tax and ebay business accounts, my business is run out of my family front room amd very quickly running out of space 😂 boxes and stuff everywhere
@@gravelbags2479 I can definitely relate to that! haha keep up the good work
Nice to see an honest seller,I do it with my wife as a sort of hobby, it's really hard if you wanted it to be a good income. We are hoping to go to Disney next year and sitting on about 7k this year and it paid for a fence at £3000. So yes you can make a bit of money but while I would love to do it full time I would need to sell £12,000k a month. I cannot find that amount of stock
Thank you for the great comment and it’s interesting to hear your side as well! That sounds great but you are absolutely right I struggle to find the stock to do it part time in winter when the car boots stop let alone to do it full time! Hope you get to go to Disney next year 👍
Bart clock is ace
Thank you for the comment!
Ebay is no longer a money maker unless u have a big store. I've sold a bit on private account. My own stuff. Ted Baker bags etc. By time ebay take their chunk. And there ever changing rules. I've decided to stop using ebay. My items got few views. I was a top rated private seller.. Then penalised because I wasn't consistent listing daily. I only ever sell if ihave a clear out. I decided to take my listing's down and store them for now. As it was stressful. I'm a carer and retired so it was a hobby and making bit of money. But I'm over ebay now. May try vinted next year. Wen I have items to sell. Good luck good honest realistic video.
Yeah you need to have lots of stock and list every day, my biggest issue is finding enough stock to list especially in the winter when the car boots stop, I hope you get some good sales on Vinted, thank you for the interesting comment much appreciated!
I sell more bundles of items nowadays than I used to. Do book bundles, dvds, cds rtf can get some decent prices so you can build up items with as such individually lower value items
Interesting that’s good to know thank you for leaving a comment!
moving in the right direction mate keep it up!

Good to hear things are picking up. Howard is a star - needs his own channel !! 🤣
Thank you! He’s gone down well I’ll have to feature him more often, thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Nice to see you back! Honestly some months are really tough man! ive been doing reselling for 7 months, I have around 500 active things, I can definatley say that some months are tougher than others, my best month I had 327 sales and made over £5000 ( before fees and product cost etc) which left me around £1500 profit. August (this month) has been woeful, made £2000 in sales which leaves around £800 profit. Although that does still sound good if I was doing this full time it would be hard going especially with rent fuel etc etc. Fortunately I work full time and this side Hussle is fun, however with aims wanting to pursue it full time, I either need a second income like UA-cam (passive) or really need to buy more stock. Im looking at swapping my items im searching for so buying higher value items at carboots such as cameras and trying to get a higher ROI (return on investment), so spent more but make more. Anyway, keep your head up, keep grinding and things will improve. I can definatley see sales going back up as winter is coming and Christmas rush! One last thing, I know this sounds obvious but its easily done and i'm guilty of this alot, but try not to have dead stock, so with me i buy that much stuff sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 weeks before its even listed on Ebay. As soon as you buy stuff try get it online as fast as possible otherwise you end up with money just sat there. Good luck and i hope your journey continues
Thanks mate great comment interesting to see someone else numbers, like you said hopefully sales pick up for us all as we get closer to Christmas! Good to see you back making vids too 👍
I’ll buy your stock if you want rid
Thanks that’s good to know, where abouts are you located?
@@JayBranno9 Worcestershire
Ok thanks
I hope you keep going with reselling (and UA-cam) because I enjoy watching your videos! I’m very lucky because my local carboot is right behind my house at the local school and it’s a big one that lasts year round so my expenses are minimal in terms of petrol and I’ve been lucky some weeks to find so much cheap stuff I can’t physically get it all home on my own (great problem to have though!) but I will be following suit and doing my number crunching real soon. It was a hobby for me until now, not a business but now kids are going back to school I thought I would make it a proper business from September so I definitely need to know my numbers too. Not the first time you’ve done a video I needed at the time I needed it 😂 hope all is well Jay! Take care and don’t give up!
Thanks so much Stephanie, definitely get your numbers down so you know where you are up to when you can, it’s a real eye opener, hopefully you are making just as much or even more than you think fingers crossed 👍 appreciate your kind comments as always thank you!
When costing things remember the golden rule it's £30 to list and sell 1 item because there are at least 2 hours work involved so even if you take a minimum wage job for 2 hours time it's over £20 and petrol costs as well as lighting and heating in the winter months tgese all have to be taken into account this is why people who do free shipping on £1 items are just paying to sell, it's more profitable to drop in bin. The minimum you should be selling is £15 items or £10 if related and you think or know the items will sell together. A good breakdown of this is would be to say £1 spent is your bill for listing on your laptop 😊
Thank you for the great comment and advice that’s really helpful, I completely agree with what you’ve said!
Where do you get 2 hours work per item from? I don't think I have ever spent 2 hours on an item in my life. But then my sourcing is not what you usually see in these videos. For example I brought a complete run of a certain subscription toy recently. Made a generic description that would apply to all and had all 105 items listed in the space of 5 hours. So far I'm 440 in profit from it and have a lot more to sell
Yeah I think unless you already have a store or something then it's probably not to worth it, I had no idea it was going like that for you lad. That's nuts. we'll sort some stuff though 😉. Sounds nefarious but just as in work and stuff. You know what I'm on about 😅😅. Can't type atm 😅😂. But I'm gunna make sure my new job is more than worth it 👍. Then you can hop in yourself 😂😂
That’s it mate when you take all the expenses away and you do the numbers properly unless you are getting killer deals it’s hard to justify carrying on with things as they are atm, when you start your venture just do as I said and keep track of everything as you go 👍
Call Rachel choice
Thank you for the comment but I don’t know what that means 😂
Absolutely awesome man 😎. Love the Bart and a lot of those PS2 games behind the ones you show, like underground and Spartan total war, and the plushies 😂😂. That bloody crash bandicoot ey 😂😂😂. Only me and you will know about that though 😂😂. Wish I had a few of them things lol 😅..... And the old consoles were ridiculously built, and miles more sturdy than the new bollocks we get these days 😂😂. Hopefully it works after it's cleaned lol. I've got a old big silver one that thankfully still works just can't find the controller anymore for some reason, or my games 😂😮💨😮💨
I have had a few negative feedbacks, and its a shame as a few of these are fabricated, over the last 7 months I have learnt to accept the more you sell the more chance you might get a negative impact. If someone does fabricate or lie and give bad feedback most time if you are unable to revoke it, simply reply with the truth and hopefully people who come across your page can see that. I still feel there needs to be an implication to eBay buyers, we should be able to leave negative feedback for buyers, for example, those buyers who buy items and take 5 days to pay for the item, and then try mess you around saying item hasn't arrived, its a shame they can just sit there on 100% feedback knowing there will be no repercussions, yet can damaged your business and sales. I feel Ebay doesn't do the best job at protecting sellers, not all of us are business's and have loads of capital to be messed around with scams/ returns etc.
Great post jay I’m just starting selling on eBay and I love car boot finds In your experience what are the top 10 things to look for at a car boot that I can sell on eBay easy and do you have much luck selling DVDs/ Blueray on eBay
Thanks! Best thing to do is start off picking up things you know about, so you aren’t jumping in the deep end of uncharted territory, try and discover if you have an interest in something which is possible you'll find at a car boot. As for easy pick ups I wouldn’t recommend bulky large items to start with (things that are awkward to post). Try and stay in large letter/small parcel dimensions. I enjoy selling DVD’s/Blu rays, but its all about learning which ones are worth anything, and boxsets are the best ones to look out for normally, typically niche obscure programmes which aren’t on any streaming services, if you research on eBay solds, filter, highest price you'll be able to see what is valuable that way. retro video games and branded adult size trainers and walking boots (size 7 and up), branded lawn bowls, they are always worth looking out for. Also bags can be a good thing to look for too. As for electrical items, there is profit to be made but be careful as some stuff for sale may not be working properly and its a risk, so pay for it with the assumption its broken just in case. but to summarise, the more times you go out sourcing, the more experienced you'll get and you will start to develop an eye for spotting things that could be worth buying to resell. but importantly, dont kick yourself if you make mistakes, everyone does! and enjoy it, have fun doing it, and whilst watching other resellers on youtube can be inspiring, it can also be a case of comparing yourself to them in a disheartening way like 'other people are finding amazing deals how come I'm never lucky like that?' some people on youtube (in my opinion) only show the good bits or they might have made contacts who are giving them private bulk deals for cheap. hope that was helpful! thanks for leaving a comment
Some great tips jay thanks for that Keep up the great post I look forward to seeing more Not sure if you have one in your area but my local reclamation center has a massive area where they keep back the good stuff like DVDs, games, cd plus other bits and pieces I was there on Sunday and picked up some nice tv box sets some x360 games and a lovely pair of rollerblades that were brand new all for cheap money It’s crazy what people throw away
@@derkdigler1712 you are welcome! Oh cool thanks for the heads up appreciate that! I’ll see if I can find one in my area
You’ve no idea how much this video was needed for me this week 😂 I got my first negative feedback for an item I listed well, good photos, description etc but the buyer thought the boots I was selling had steel toe cap when no where in the listing it mentions that. I’m a private seller not a business seller so I don’t have returns on my listings normally, but I had one of those gut feelings I needed to accept this return otherwise I’d get negative feedback. Before I could even accept it (within an hour of them messaging), they had already given me negative feedback. So I spoke with them (not about the feedback) but about accepting the return, went through the usual process then I sent a request for them to change the feedback because it was dealt with quickly. I had to figure that all out on my own as I’d never done a negative feedback change request before. Luckily they did change it to positive so I’m still 100% but damn it does make you worry when it happens! Glad this video has come along to guide my next eBay interactions!
You will get that where sometimes even when you’ve mentioned something in the description the buyer doesn’t read or notice it, then they’ll send you a message when they have received it saying they aren’t happy, in that case I nicely tell them it’s in the listing and sorry they didn’t see it! If you sell similar boots in the future, just put in the description ‘they aren’t steel toe caps’ if one person assumed they have, other people in the future might too, it’s one of those things you don’t realise until it happens lol 😂 That’s good that you managed to sort it though and they revised the feedback, that’s a good result! 👍 Glad the video has helped, hope you are doing well and have a good weekend!
Some people are just nasty, I've only had 2 negative and 5 neutral, 3 of the neutral were mistakes or positive but they selected neutral by mistake, 2 were my mistakes. The 1 negative was a blatant lie and another was from a guy that was giving me racist abuse and threats because I sent an item with Evri. He returned the item and purposely damaged it also! Worst person I've dealt with!
Absolutely you are right, there are nearly always some unpleasant people in all walks of life sadly, that’s awful I’m sorry you had to go through that! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment hope you have a good weekend
The Jan van Haasteren jigsaw is a great pickup. I do jigsaws (mostly in the Winter) and have a few Haasteren jigsaws. I have always kept these after doing them as they are worth a fair bit, great jigsaws to do as well. Another good haul mate!
Thank you! Oh nice yeah I did a couple in lockdown and they are good ones! They’ve come down in value a bit sadly but still worth picking up sometimes especially if you do the jigsaws, thanks for leaving a comment mate much appreciated 🤘
Great haul mate 👍
Appreciate it thanks! I’ll check out your videos 🤘
Great haul 👍 I collect dvds, one bolo you should look out for is the old tv show “moonlighting” with Bruce Willis in. The whole set goes for £80-£150 pre-owned (depending on how many are currently listed, which usually isn’t many at any given time due to its rarity) but a new sealed one I’ve seen sell for £307! I was lucky enough to find a new sealed copy in my local charity shop and have been conflicted over whether I should sell it or keep it. If I didn’t collect dvds I’d definitely sell it. But it’s such a rare dvd I’m likely to never find it again. There are multiple reasons why it’s rare but just wanted to give you a little awesome bolo to look out for 😊
Thank you! Oh wow that’s great I love finding out about bolos like that, that’s the thing as a collector and seller isn’t it, I think keep hold of it for now you might regret it if you sell it! Thanks again Stephanie 👍
Just sold an Excalibur for £15! The rest I would maybe bundle for like 24.95 or something, either way some good money there nice pick ups! My local charity shops just full of fifa 07/08
Oh nice one that’s good to know thanks! I’ll sell half and keep the rest probably 👍 yeah same here and Wii fit 😂 they were priced high individually which probably put other people off but I asked if yhey would do a bundle deal and it worked out £2.50 a game which isn’t bad! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment mate appreciate it 👍
Nice one mate. As you know I frequent the charity shops but have never looked at clothes as I have no idea what I'm looking at! Clearly a potential for profit though if you know what you're looking at... As for your channel, I recommend doing everything on the same channel to save you hassle but of course it's up to you :) Looking forward to future content, particularly on game collecting plus films as well.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment mate appreciate it! Yeah when I first started I had no idea what I was doing, I would even buy commonly known good stuff only to get home and discover a big stain or tear I didn’t notice 😅 Thanks for the feedback, it would be easier to do it in one channel! Awesome that’s great same to you too! 👍
Been there done that many times, get over it 👍🏻
Yeah lesson learned! Thanks for watching
Most post offices do evri now. Which should be £2.94. Not much of a saving but still a slight increase in profit. Total would have been £0.77 profit which is over double what you paid. I can see why a lot of people have moved to second hand clothes since their are no fees (excluding shoes, hats ect)
Yeah I’m not a massive fan of evri and I usually put in the listing description ‘posted with royal Mail’ but that’s a good point! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment appreciate it 👍
@@JayBranno9 it’s good advice! We all learn from mistakes. Tbh I had never been a fan of evri but since using Vinted more I’ve found them more reliable. Although totally depends on the area. In the bigger cities they have a bad reputation.
@@MuzzaA93 yeah I’ve used them recently for a couple of bulky parcels and no problems, they have got better definitely! Thanks for the feedback much appreciated

Nice one Jay. I bought a PS2 with some games (around 20) for £35 around 5-6 years ago and was transported back in time. I got into it and have 100 odd games in my wardrobe now which I regret buying most of them 🤣 Some great games (both in playability and value) in the bundle, the EA games aren’t great for value but I expect you’ll recoup a fair whack on the likes of GTA. Keep it up, great work. 👍🏻

I did a mistake like this in my first week, accepted an offer and only after fees and postage made a loss of 0.07p! Yes a loss! learn from the mistakes and own them! Nice 20 quid mistake but learnt from them! that being said, that 26p profit is a freddo!
