Sound & Vision makes videos of UK car rallies. We started with 8mm Cine Film, then moved on to VHS Video Tape, then later on to Super8 and Mini DV. We have well over 100 events recorded from the mid 70's to the present day.
The main purpose of the channel is to archive and preserve this footage, making it available for those who were involved in the event either as organizers, marshals, competitors or for rally enthusiasts in general. Where possible we have also provided links or uploads of entry lists, results, route information etc.
Much of the early footage is amateur and low quality, reflecting technology of the time it was filmed.
We are also happy to archive footage filmed by other amateurs and or companies to eventually provide an organized archive recording these events for future viewing. If you have footage even from only one event please contact us as we would love to hear from you and include your films in our archive.

011 - Leukaemia Reserch Stages 1983
One hot sunday in July 1983, 90 cars lined up for a thrash around Wymeswold Airfield. Rearly do we see so many Mini's & Hillman Imps.
Eventual winner Chris Asquith was chased hard by Brian Simpson in his wheel lifting Sunbeam and Alistair Sutherland in his newly aquired Opel Ascona 400.

This footage was had degraded over the last 40 years, the BASF VHS tape had not stood the test of time. This has taken some work to recover all the footage. I think this was the event when I should have co-driven for Kevin Stodd in his 1300 BDA Escort, but the car wasn't ready. I even booked us out of MC1 without the car! Start venue was the Post House Hotel on Narborough Road Leicester. Organised by Soar Valley Motor Club.

Can anyone remember what year Gregorys ford dealership in Worksop was the service area for the world rally championship? I think it was 83, 84or 85. What year did Gregorys sell to Hooleys?

Unfortunately not. I do have the 1985 York National. I also have a lot of film at the 1985 RAC press day, with many shots of the Metro 6R4
I have well over 100 events covered between 83 and 2000 that I will put on the channel as and when time allows.

Red Mk 2 escort wold be Graham Lepley, Derby Road Garage. Probably POO504R and my old escort NTL234M in the hands of Dave Bell before I bought it from him as a rolling shell.
This was before Graham bought POO 504R and 505R from Boreham. The car he is driving was one of the First privateer MK2 Escorts rallied. You will notice the MK1 escort bubble arches as the square arches were not yet available.
@@SoundVisionRallyReportsArchive Last I knew POO 505R had been acquired by Jason Pritchard of North Road Garage, Builth Wells, Wales. He'd restored it to original condition. To keep as a piece of rallying history.
Some shots there from the 1984 RAC Rally so must have been made in late 1984/ early 1985.
