At 29:57 paraphrase “ we are not here for people, but for God, If I had people as my focus then I would’ve left a long time ago.” This sounds like he is saying that if the “prodigals and nomads” left due to spiritual abuses there’s a failing in their soul ( “the fault lies with me…Im not spiritual enough …I should be willing to accept the status quo of abuses even though it might be destroying my psyche”) and removes the onus of accountability from those spiritually abusing others. Of course its not intentional however the message is there. By not also addressing or admonishing against the lack of safety in the community, it leaves the blame on the abused and a form of gaslighting ( the problem is me not the abuse). Think of the battered woman told if she wouldn’t make her husband angry he wouldn’t beat her, etc…The scriptures teach that we are not to look down at others peoples faith. Let’s also please put the onus on the ones abusing so we can keep those God has chosen in the fellowship and have a mentally healthy church. Are we actively working against the wolves and weeds the scriptures promise will be among us or are giving them a spiritual “pass” to destroy the safety in our following and cripple peoples faith by not even acknowledging them much less rebuking, correcting, retraining them?
