This is my 52 Inch with flickering and ghost image problems. I'm trying to find a solution because it's a nice TV and can't afford another one right now.

I have a 52'' 2008 Sony T.V that does the same thing. Everyday I turn in on the right side of the screen is blurry / distorted for about 10 minutes before it goes back to normal. And it has been doing this for over a year. Thankfully it has not gotten worse yet but I fear that it will. It's so annoying and I don't know what to do as it's past warranty.
The LCD panel on the inside has split. There are a few remedies out there for it, but start preparing yourself to purchase a new TV that is not Sony.
+Greg Si Thanks for your help. But how does that happen? My t.v is on the wall and literally never gets touched, so I don't get how the inside of the t.v could break? And it may just be a coincidence but my t.v ghosting problem started right after I switched my cable box last year from a Comcast Motorola to a X1 box so I assumed that caused it. However then when I switched back to my old cable box the problem did not go away. Now no matter what cable box I use I still get the ghosting images. I know it is the t.v that's the problem and not the cable box however I just find it strange that as soon as I changed my cable box last year (after having the same box for over 5 years) is when this started happening. Coincidence maybe.
The problem is actually due to the quality of the LCD's that Sony uses in their TV's. The LCD panels that Sony uses are so cheap in quality that the HD content from the X1 box was probably too much for it to handle. The same problem happened to me when I switched to a HD box from Comcast. So instead of recalling their cheap TV's, they will offer to sell you one of their refurbished TV's at a discounted rate. I would personally go with a SHARP or a VIZIO and save your money.
+Greg Si Really the same thing happened to you? So your TV was fine until you switched your cable box, then right after is when you started getting ghost images? That's exactly what happened to me. But just to clarify I always had a HD cable box, I just switched from one of Comcast's HD motoralla ones one to a HD X1 box. I had a HD motarolla box for 5 years with no issues then I switched to a HD X1 box and boom, ghost images. But being that they are both HD I don't see how that could cause it but maybe the X1 HD content was stronger or something? But I called Sony and they just told me it was past warranty and all they could do is give me a number for TV repair in my area. Also suggested I do a factory reset but I doubt that will work. And I told them lots of people have this problem and he told me i'm the 1st person he ever heard of having these types of issues. What a joke!
was it like that when you plugged it in the first time? why didn´t you take it back and they´d probably would´ve given you a new one :P
It was 4 years old then. I have a Vizio that I bought in 2007 that I still use today with no issues. By the looks of all the other videos posted about the same issue, I doubt this is an isolated problem.
I contacted the folks over at Sony and basically got no where. They offered to sell me a refurbished TV for around $700 + shipping. There are a bunch of quick fixes or possible remedies available on UA-cam. I will never buy another Sony ever again.
What was the Fix to this. I have the same problem
its possible you have a loose connection at the top of the lcd (sounds crazy, but its possible). search 52" sony lcd ghost image fix (or just 52" sony ghost image) and try the "fix" that they did (it involved putting a shimmy between the lcd frame and the outer frame on the connectors) if you are electronically inclined.
