one word: SPOTTERS SPOTTERS SPOTTERS SPOTTERS! Had to dislike the video due to safety issues.

The olympic weightlifting movements in this video are horrible. Keep holding a barbell with plates overhead with unlocked arms is very dangerous!! Don't imitate!!

A spotter or two would prevent an accident - one that is just waiting to happen, according to the previous comments.

I wish I could up vote this comment 1000 times. Very dangerous the way they are doing that.

Focus on ankle and adductor flexibility; his knees pointed in and toes out in overhead squats, just asking for a knee injury. Only load the bar when u can do a deep, good form squat with a dall rod

Oh man, sorry but those overhead squats and the snatch are so so ugly. The athlete really needs to work on their flexibility, get some lifting shoes, and get the right posture with an empty bar first.

I'd probably leave the snatch out of the workouts, until the athlete gets a better (safer) hold on it. You could do other things like powercleans that are easier.

i feel as a collegiate athlete if you are going to have them learn those lifts make sure they do them right not how much they can lift.

BAD olympic lift technique! Never split the feet and keep your butt down on snatch, pulling too much with the back! Close grip snatch is better for HS athletes

And when you do an over head squat it helps keep your shoulder blades closed and your feet about shoulders width

Nice gym for a bunch of retards. They are going to end up hurting themselves lifting. The coach should've taught them for before they even started putting weight on the bar.

another reason why you aren't able to perform the squat technique is because your hips are not as strong, and what you can do to fix it is the same thing I said before with the pole and practicing your squat, also holding that squat position without the pole will help your hips too. A key note to also help; STRETCHING, but i'm sure you should already know that. Good luck in your throwing and I hope I helped you out.

when you do your over head squats, you have to sit back more on your heels, like a regular squat. Your knees were over feet and that can cause serious knee injury later on. what you can do to help you rock back more and get better technique is: grab a pole like from a machine and grab the pole and squat, practice that for a while until you can easily do a squat rocking back on your heels with your chest up. Another thing is to stretch your quads and your hips

I have to mention this, the form of the lifters in regards to the "Snatch" is absolutely HORRIBLE. the lifter needs more training and coaching at less weight to perfect form. If the form is not perfected the injuries that he could sustain will Cripple him for Life. Do not attempt these lifts without proper coaching. They are very dangerous. If you are doing these lifts it is also important to remember to strengthen your core! Improper muscle balance can lead to chronic injuries later in life.

how far were these kids throwing?

they shouldn't be jumping at all. you don't want to have that stomping force on your legs and joints. there is no advantage to jumping vs non jumping. vertical hip drive/lift is the purpose of the movement, which is why the jump should be removed to take the shock off the muscles

@cornnellify Full ROM? No, but safe form? Yes, it should be necessary.

  • @cornnellify
    @cornnellify 12 років тому

@EndlersaurusRex using competition form and range is unneccesary...but that as well as anything the english language can create cannot serve as an excuse for what the young man is doing in this video. But coaching and experience will bring him to that fine line.

@sjboals Noah Bryant does the lifts with good form and he throws the 7.26kg over 20m. Bad form is bad form, no matter how far you throw.
