3 Questions on Submitting Test Scores That I Get Asked Daily
Too much jargon
I had three W's in my high school transcript. I didn't withdraw, I didn't drop the classes. I didn't fail out of them. The classes were all dropped due to low registration rate. In that high school there needed to be at least ten students to sign up for a class otherwise they did not feel it worthwhile to conduct the class. For me, those classes were Zoology, European History and Ancient History. One each in my Sophomore, Junior and Senior years. I argued with the school for years that they should change my transcript to indicate the truth but the town's policy is that all transcripts even ones with errors in them are written in stone and thus cannot ever be changed. I had multiple post secondary schools reject me on those W's.
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it gets better for those who come after you.
It's actually as good as your applying from 11th grade, which involves that your gonna be sending the original copy of your high school transcript 11th grade class.
Im taking it in 8th grade
Stop trying to put kids into debt. You’re only going to like something you like. Please. And remove the tasteless commoner jewerly
What if i have lost my 11th transcript and can't get it again form my school....
I'm sorry that has happened. I would try to work with the school to see what they can do to help.
Thanks 😊
I got a 34 composite score in July while my September ACT is same at 34 but my science score increased from 33 to a 34 and English from 35 to 36 while math decreased 1 point to 30. So if my overall composite score didn’t increase but by science score increased, should I report 2 scores for a super score just to show that my stem score increased or I should just send my July score.
Congratulations on your strong score. This will depend on the school since some schools will not superscore the ACT. Check with each school on your list.
Perfect grammar? really? So proof reading and editing is out the window now? Making mistakes on essays, resumes and portfolios I was brought up to believe that it's a reflection of you in general in academia. And that was well before A.I. If I didn't have proper MLA format, my teachers wouldn't accept it until it was formatted properly.
I've just gone into grade 8 but i watched this whole thing for some reason
I try to find a high school that has an AP PE class
Worth mentioning that the SRAR also allows the student to report any college level courses they may have taken.
Which colleges? I am interested in NYU, they track applicants interest but they are highly selective though...
To show demonstrated interest, it's better to attend a virtual or in-person event.
@@saraharbersonofficial Thank you. Is it OK if I attend multiple of these, or would that seem too desperate?
@@KrathuSankaranarayanan I would attend different events if they address different aspects of the college: a virtual campus tour will be different than a virtual information session.
Im starting my senior year and I'm taking 2 periods off. I am still taking 2 college classes each semester but will it hurt my application to have 2 free periods rather than elective classes?
For the majority of colleges, as long as you're taking the five core subjects (math, history, English, foreign language, and science) during your senior year, you should be okay taking two free periods.
If I received a letter of recommendation from an intership I had over the summer from a university professor, could I submit that as a letter of recommendation on my common app? Or does it have to be only high school teachers?
I always recommend following the instructions for each college's recommendation letter requirements. Typically, high school teachers are the way to go.
By DD was emailed by the college (Emerson) and invited to interview with her admissions counselor
How do you get an official transcript so that the student can input this data? We get online report cards that disappear at the end of the year. Never occurred to us that we’d have to print them out and save them for future data entry purposes
I would work with your school's college counselor to get a copy of the full transcript.
Lowering requirements because students are going to fail in mass otherwise.
I really hope this isn’t true
Lower the brainwork . I'm glad I'm on my way out....😮
Wow wt#
i want to get into an ivy league school for ideally an english/psych double major, and i know most of them want you to take math every year. i’m a year ahead (algebra 2 in sophomore year) what are the easier math classes for my next two years or how can i survive ap math classes when i am so bad at math?
This depends a lot on. your school. You should rely on your teachers and counselors at school to help you navigate the path that best fits you.
That's sounds hard😢
Hey do you provide one on one counseling?
Is this the same for career centers? I am think of hung to a career center for my junior and senior year of high school, but I want to make sure it won’t affect my chances to get into school if they are not partnered with the school.
Gap year is the worst idea, I can’t believe you are suggesting it. Travel? With what money? They shouldn’t travel on mommy and daddy’s dime
Colleges are not a guarantee for success. Go to a trade school. You'll always be able to find a job.
Sure, if you're there solely for a job. But certain professions require the resources universities have to offer; ie, labs.
3 of those tags revolve solely around money.
Thanks 😊
I've seen many successful students put music or athletic award of national and international level in honors. Thoughts?
I recommend that you save the honors space for academic awards, and you list your music or athletic awards with the activity in the activity list.
@@saraharbersonofficial Hi. Thanks for your response. My instrument achievements, awards, and description will not fit in the common app activity box that's why I figured I could include national-level comp awards in the honors section and include the rest in the activities section
@@saraharbersonofficial if I have no room to list all the competitions can I just put see add info and list them in add info?
@@saraharbersonofficial oh also one more thing: I am applying to BSMDs and top schools as a premed, is it bad to combine 2-3 ECs into one activity slot on common app? For example, medical shadow and volunteer in one slot? And a research program and being a research assistant in one slot? I have way more than 10 ECs that I have spent significant time in that’s why I ask.
Gold!
clown country
It's normal to feel anxious about a new job, want to talk more abt this stuff? always avail to chat in the blue fever app.
What if my school only offers the ACT, but I want to take the SAT?
You can always register to take the SAT somewhere else, although if your school or state requires you to take the ACT, you will still have to take that test.
Are rolling admission colleges (ASU and Purdue in my case) particularly easier to get an admission from? Assuming I apply at the earliest.
Some rolling admissions schools do have higher acceptance rates, but that doesn't mean it's easy to be accepted. You should make sure you look at the school's objective admissions criteria to make sure you're competitive.
@@saraharbersonofficial got it, thanks for the input!
What if the school says from the beginning they do not accept appeals
Harvard didn't have record applications 😮
my counselor doesn't even have an email omggggg
What’s the differences between the SAT and ACT?
There are several differences, but two distinctions are the timing of the test (the ACT is a faster paced test) and the math content. You can take practice tests of both the SAT and ACT to see which one better suits your skills.
None of these possible in a third world country 😢
No, I'm from India and I can very well relate with everything except for the paid job part
@@vishalkumarKA Well for now I can I managed to get into a good school in Bangladesh but too much study pressure I cant.
Thx!
forgo the list and go to Community College and transfer into the four years during sophomore year when the four out of 10 freshmen fail out or decide the school sucks and never go back.
Love this!! Ill be retiring the word safety from college conversations with my child. Thank you for this gem!
I respectfully decline that opinion, safety works
this is really great information! thank you. Does a school ever defer an ED1 to ED2? or if you get deferred do you always get deferred to RD?
If you receive a defer decision, it will more than likely be to the regular decision round.
Absolutely wrong! As per the US Census Bureau, first generation American are Americans both overseas. There are about 40 millions of us. Our children born in the US are Second generation Americans (about the same number)
Not entirely wrong. It's an unnecessarily confusing definition that means 2 completely different things. There's a lot of authoritative sources, not just the U.S. Census, that have completely different definitions listed. First Gen can mean what you've said, but it's also, more commonly known, to be what she has stated--at least that's how I've always heard it from literally everyone as someone born and raised in the USA for 25 years now. I didn't know there was this much confusion about the term and the term Second Gen until now! Regardless, you can find both definitions under the term First Gen all over the internet, so it's a little strange haha.
so once I finish middle school, I would have finished my p.e, health, and forgien language requirements. Along with 3 adv math classes and adv biology and adv eng 1. What should I do once with the extra room in my schedule and when I finish my required credits in the core classes?
A lot depends on what your school offers, but if you can, try to fill those open slots with other core classes.
Im in 9th grade I want to go into psychology, I’ve looked through my school electives for the future and there is no psychology classes listed so what classes should I take? I don’t have many ideas other than biology since it is closely related to psychology.
If your school doesn't offer it, colleges will understand that you couldn't take it! I recommend doing your best to take the rigor that's right for you within your high school options and to stick to that 5-4 plan (5 core academic classes all 4 years of high school).
you can take it as an online course
Im 37 and my high school doesn't exist anymore . How do i work around that ?
❤
