    Thank you so much for translating the background announcement. I have always wondered what they were saying. Japanese people can be really assertive when needed. Imagine announcing that on the streets where there are a lot of catchers. LOL🤣

    I've been there and don't see anything dangerous about it. Maybe it is relative to other parts of Japan but it's very tame and safe compared to a lot of other cities around the world.

    Stayed there 15 years ago. Didn't realise it was supposed to be sketchy until someone told us after we got back home. It's not quite the same as a red light district anywhere else in the world. In other words, not like a red light district at all.😀

    Thanks for the video and information about the night life and what to watch out for in Kabukicho. To anyone, I would be a tourist there, so how can you tell what area you are in? Are there signs up saying you are now in Kabukicho or Shinjuku?? After watching other videos, they kind of explain the Maid Cafes and Bars and how expensive they can be to go to one. I guess usually the Street Maids escort you to the Maid Cafe (which is nothing more than a fancy apartment) and everything is for a cost. Thanks again for the sightseeing tour of Japan City. Take care.

    I am planning my first trip ever to Japan next winter. My trip will be from Sapporo and end in Osaka. Tokyo is a given, but I plan to avoid these bars. Even in other parts of the world I´ve been in like Eastern Europe, they have pretty girls that invite guys for drinks. They pretend the bar was chosen randomly but it´s a set up to shake people down with a very high bill. As a general rule, I don´t pay attention to strangers especially touts trying to lure me. No hostess bars for me. I am wasting my money on Anime and Manga items in Akihabara.

    five reasons why japanese doesn't make good friends for western ppl: 1 they choose who is worth to hear their honne (truth thoughts ) and prefer to overuse tatemae ( lies) for any pretexte no matter how hard we're polite or nice except when they get drunk, it's just stupid 2 they only thinks to work-work , notghing else 3 they're too serious and too positive, they're creepy , they force themselves to help us until being embarrassing 4 they never wants to learn international languages, and when we speak poorly japanese they mocks at us while we just do what we can to communicate 5 they have national xenophobia don't trust their politeness.

    Those foreign catchers are targeting foreign men, like me. I stayed in the capsule in Kabukicho for 5 nights. Every night I was harassed by these catchers. Usually, they have some Chinese or Filipino girl in a nearby room. They’re pimps to unfortunate girls. I wish the police would do something about it. I see they were polite to you, but these are not good people. They’re making a living from the sex services of an enslaved girl.

    The reason the catchers won't speak to girls, or Japanese people in general, is because when they find a tourist, or someone just from outside of Japan, you are essentially the same - outsiders. So you will maybe feel more comfortable talking to them in English, or another native language. Their comprehension of English may be higher than others, so they know all the little nuances and ways to try and convince someone to follow them. Personally, when they have tried to speak to me in the past, I will just respond to them in Japanese, the same way others do to street marketers. Tell them I'm not interested, and walk way. If that doesn't work, I pretend not to know English, or any other language they speak.

    I've been to Kabukicho a few times now, it definitely feelt a bit safer in 2019 when I last went with the announcements, but then again it was pretty safe in the first place, the only hassle I experienced was from the Nigerian lads trying to get you into bars, however, they're friendly enough and if you're friendly but firm with saying no they'll leave you alone, if not just keep walking. The stories I've heard were folks who followed one of the pushers into a bar with the offer of free drinks, girls etc., there's a risk you may get your drink spiked and your credit card rinsed or just massively overcharged and threatened if you refuse to pay.

    • @JezaLoki

      Those Nigerian dudes often have some enslaved Chinese or Filipino girl in a nearby room they pimp out to foreigners. Japanese prostitutes won’t serve foreign clients so the Nigerians have taken advantage of this situation. That’s why they only target foreigners.

    • @Cal3000
      @Cal3000 2 роки тому

      I've heard the same story. If this was a common occurrence, wouldn't the government shut down these actions by now? Sounds like one story was spread on the internet and everyone is running with it.

      On another channel someone (foreign woman) said a Nigerian grabbed her arm and tried to drag her into the bar. Then a scary looking yakuza type guy came out and said something, and the Nigerian catcher let her go. Slightly scary!

    • @Cal3000
      @Cal3000 2 роки тому

      @@ChickensAndGardening What video? I went down this same street last night and probably saw the same guys. One of the guys asked me if I wanted to go drinking in a bar and tapped my shoulder and I simply said no and he backed off. I was with my Japanese friend that always go down to Kabukicho and he had no idea why the catcher was talking to me. Seem like the locals have no idea what they do. In Ikebukuro there are Japanese local catchers that try to get local women into bars. I walked by them every having no idea what they do, but one of my female tutors felt unsafe there. There are literal police announcements telling people not to fall for the traps. Seems like law enforcement know what they do, but don't have the power to stop them.
