Fascinating...As a man who holds a differing understanding of the verses I believe you are referencing...I would love to hear your view of the cultural/historical context of Paul's words about women in the church and how you reconcile those words in light of other passages in the Bible, especially other passages from Paul. I would also be interested to hear how your interpretive process led you to the conclusion that these verses are prescriptive and why so many churches who hold that viewpoint don't seem to have the same conviction for the verses surrounding those texts. How so?

I believe that is true for many people, but not all. As a person of faith, there are many beliefs that I used to hold that were based on lies (many of which were taught by well-intentioned people who also didn't realize they were lies). As I began to study and listen to those outside my small sphere of influence (put in the hearing aids), my beliefs changed as the foundation of lies was torn down. This is why deconstruction (and for some 'reconstruction') of faith is so incredibly important.

we liked them too...however, the disappointment of biting into the hollow bunny, and expecting solid chocolate is unmatched in childhood 😃. Did not keep me from eating the entire thing in 1 sitting though 🤷‍♂️

@@AllSaints_Online Ah, I completely agree! We all thought they were filled with chocolate. It was very disappointing. Most of the chocolate did taste very cheap. I think my mom just knew to get the German chocolate bunnies lol. Still, spending time with family is most important ❤️

It is important to consider the differences between moral, ceremonial, and civil laws in the Old Testament. Based upon a lot of scholarship of Leviticus and Jesus’ fulfillment of the law (Matthew 5 & Romans 10), we would not regard this a “moral” law. Beyond that, your comment does touch on the complexity between cultural, temporal, and religious perspectives on morality, and how these perspectives can evolve over time. Morality is often viewed through the lens of the culture and time period in which it is interpreted. Different Christian communities may have varying interpretations of what the Bible says about many issues and this diversity in interpretation is partly because the Bible itself is a collection of texts written over thousands of years, each with its own historical and cultural context. As societies progress, our collective understanding of human rights, justice, and personal freedom expands, leading to shifts in moral perspectives. This does not necessarily mean that morality is subjective in the sense that "anything goes," but rather that our understanding of what is morally right or wrong can evolve as we gain more insight into cultural/historical contexts, human nature, and societal well-being.
