    Where were the Parents ?

    Why would ANY PARENT let their child ride metro bus or train to school. Metro bus does not run everywhere, and the children have to walk in unsafe areas, not to mention that it will be dark. This is the dumbest and the most dangerous thing I have ever heard. Anything for the state money. Time to lawyer up

    Where are the parents, based on the attendance, it seems like the parents all over the City don't care to know what is happening.

    That’s because you have a board that was elected by the citizens of St Louis. A new superintendent needs a team that is working with the team.

    I would like to complain about my experience last year at Gateway Elementary. My daughter was a 4th grader with Ronnie Harris and we had a horrible experience-so much so I had to hire a tutor and change her school. I am at the Board of Education currently but I did not know I needed to sign up to speak. Can a concession please be made on my behalf to speak?

    Please put the camera on those who are talking going forward and also show the others on stage so we can see if they are paying attention. I am really wondering how some of these people got elected, after watching many of the videos and listening to them ask questions. Amazing

    This is the third instance where I really support Ms. Hubbard’s inclination and then she seems to get bullied into changing or withdrawing her motions. Stand tall Ms. Hubbard! When you’re doing right, you have righteousness behind you.

    City voter here - kids attend private based upon this chaotic district. Seems the city district is currently being run by the dictator Board President - Scarlett is being setup certainly based on my review of last 2 months of videos. City voters should stand strong and take action to remove these individuals. They are not effectively representing the community's interest and the district is being poorly managed. Ask all board members if their own children attend the district currently. If not, vote them out immediately. Transparency in educating children in the community is imperative. Dont let them silience your voice community in these meetings.

    If each person agrees on a certain topic, why can’t they all speak? It’s only 3 baby minutes. It’s called public comment. Those rules ignore all voices. It doesn’t matter if we don’t agree, it’s public and tax payers pay for their voice. Y’all new rules suck

    • @nychellebrewer
      @nychellebrewer 9 місяців тому

      But if all 50 people spoke for 3 minutes, it would take 2 1/2 hours. It would leave no time for regular school board business. I think that limiting public comments to those who haven't had the chance to do so before is fair.

    According to available data, 78% of SLPS students are below Missouri state standards for grade level proficiency in reading and 90% are below grade level in math. Outcomes need to demonstrate how these efforts are impacting these dismal realities. Does this incite anyone besides myself? Summer is a good opportunity to focus on remediation in an intense way. The biggest academic claim is that summer camp had some statistically insignificant impact on academic regression normally experienced over the summer. Stagnation is not applaudable. Advancement and skill acquisition should be the goals. This is painful!

    Ok, um. I normally appreciate your energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to our district, Dr. Scarlett. However, in talking about the three highest-achieving schools in SLPS--#1, 2, and 18 in the entire state--you sound like you're phoning it in. You're stumbling over these schools' names. This is a huge win for your first full year as Superintendent. Maybe you're having a rough day, whatever, ok. But still, these students' and teachers' (and families'!) achievements deserve your full attention and respect. You still have my love & support, but I'm a little disappointed today, Dr. S.

    The Board needs to become aware of the damage Dr. Amy Phillips is already causing at CVPA! A 2nd petition has been started to remove her from the district entirely! Please do not ignore these early warning signs. My child never recovered from Dr. Phillips abuse at Gateway STEM High School!

    The schools do not care about children’s education. They like to give out awards to teachers when you have 90% who cannot read and 97% who cannot do grade level math. I think the whole public school system needs to be revamped. Or Federal school choice laws and force the schools to do the right thing.

    The board and members in the past would have been tarred and feathered. They certainly have never experienced a night of starvation. As a Native-American, the blacks have a homeland to go back to if they so wish And please don't tell me you're Native if you don't look like one. TBH I prefer to live with white fellas that black fellas. Much less headaches and crime. Let's be honest.
