I know it isn’t one to one the same, but bacl when I was bumming Disney+ off my ex boyfriend(I don’t have any subscription services, the only one I had was Funimation and they shut down) I remember getting a similar feeling scrolling through the posters and cover arts Disney+ used to the feeling that I got looking at the covers of movies on the shelf at Family Video. I know it isn’t exactly the same because at Family Video you had a tangible box in a physical retail environment but the feeling has sort of lived on through streaming. I mean how many times have you put on a random film on Netflix because the title or poster piqued your interest? I’m not claiming streaming is better at all, I mean I refuse to subscribe to any and just watch things from my extensive collection of Blu Rays and DVDS that line my shelves, but whenever I use Netflix or Disney+ at my moms, i get a similar feeling trying to scroll through and find something to put on. What is the point here? Streaming services have their plusses and minuses… but then again, so did video stores? Late fees, all the little dings and charges they’d add on, but the video store, like streaming, also had many positives too and it sucks that they’re gone forever now :(

DUDE the first movie I ever got from a video rental store was My Neighbor Totoro too!!! I was like 5. Anyway for a really long time after that I didn't know what the movie was called I just had vague memories of it then I was describing it to my friend one day, like 13 years afterwards and he told me what it was called and I IMMEDIATELY watched it again lol.

more and more people around me are buying flip phones and rejecting technology in general which is funny and really reassuring to see. i’m 17 and i’ve been chronically online since I was like 9. discovering the real world for the first time this last year has been eerie and surreal. the most fun i have online now is when i have dedicated time to do so. preferably on a computer on my desk that stays plugged into the wall. I’ll usually make room for a couple hours at the end of the day to do something online. playing video games, watching a show, longform content, i genuinely even enjoy scrolling pinterest for 20 minutes or so because it is CONTROLLED and i’m not just doomscrolling away from my anxieties. another thing that helps me is making sure i do something else other than be online in my free time before i get on my computer. i might talk to friends, even if just over text. i might write songs, do homework, run outside, meditating also really helps with being present i genuinely hope we have a revolution against content addiction at some point in my life. i’m already seeing ripples of it as time progresses and i’m rooting for it all the way.

I once saw a comedian who put it so brilliantly, that the internet is like every other new thing humanity exposes itself to, and made a direct comparison to cigarettes. At first we didn't think they were harmful or any big deal, kids might smoke a cigarette no biggie, people smoked them whenever wherever. Then it came to light that they were addictive and severly harmful to your health, and we banned smoking indoors and had to have designated smoking areas. He said it should be exactly the same with the internet. Funny and sad that it seems so true as time goes on!

I’m at a weird place time wise, where I have memories of early 2010s internet, but all of my teenage years have been modern internet. It’s crazy how much I’ve seen the length and type of content change. Even in games, I was obsessed with geometry dash in like 2014, and now all the games made to be way shorter, more compact, shortening attention spans. Ai content feels like that, on a bigger scale.

Tell me about it. Try being around since flash and big UI changes. We went from barely 360p to 1080p in just ten years. It changed everything. Games went from being strictly discs on your PC to games that could be played on websites like neopets and beyond. Then I had to watch that die, and it's never really came back idk. The Internet is a fickle beast. Thanks for your comment

About the deep fakes we have a simple solution, if you really wanna be sure a video is real, check it's digital signature. Ofc there would have to be a web of trust to know which signatures are correct, but being public figures it's quite simple.

Thanks for the video, just about I actually finished on reading the book of "Kiki's Delivery Service".It's a nice book despite the smooth yet boring journey compare the challege that Kiki faced in the movie,I would say the book was fitted for 1950s than today. The film is suited for modern time,we must overcome the difficulty and relax sometime instead of burn down constantly. The harsh route never end, still the determination will make us getting through.

The only way personalised website could come back if someone found a way of simplying the process of creating & owning a web domain, after all the reason why facebook, blogspot and twitter triumphed on the end of the 2000's was the fact that you could post nearly anything without the neccesity of learning coding or another complex web building method.
