radio massacre international (as 'DAS') "zabriskie point" remaster

this is the 2015 remaster of the track we originally recorded in 1980, long before we were known as radio massacre international. time to upload a new version as it's 41 years old!
radio massacre international- rainy day song (remix)
Переглядів 1523 роки тому
we were pondering a more radio-friendly sound in order to broaden our appeal (crazy kids) & so I carefully synced up an electribe rhythm box & added some bass guitar to an existing mix of two live versions of 'rainy day song', then stitched these pictures over it. the band shots are from one of the live performances used in the audio, but not synced. the rainy driving is post-rehearsal stockpor...

saturdays, we'd somehow wangled the use of Mtv's studio A at hawley crescent for band practise. I'm guessing, from the set, that this was mid-late 1994. sometimes saturdays were also director-training day, & a crew would be in there, & we'd get a free video made. there's another, later one, elsewhere... the band was called 'cosmopop' by then, but here I think we were still 'short victoria', the...

raw cane approach

this is the video for the track "raw cane approach", from the album "republic", but edited here for Mtv or whatever. actually Mtv told me this was "too strobey", which is quite an achievement I reckon.

Syd Barrett took drugs before his time with Pink Floyd. David Gilmour said he took LSD with Syd when Pink Floyd didn't even exist yet. Nick Mason said: Syd smoked a joint now and then. Syd Barrett lived in a bad shared apartment. He took LSD several times a week. No brain can handle that!!! He continued to take drugs during his 2 solo albums, although no longer LSD... Mantrax and hash. Syd Barrett was a sick person at 22!!! He didn't live in the here and now... He could no longer play the right scales... He wanted to start a cult... He tried to hit his sister Rosemary on the head with his guitar 🎸... Syd Barrett had the illness of catatonia!!! His sister Rosemary said: Syd had to learn to come to terms with the damage to his brain... He painted pictures and then burned them in the garden. This is exactly why Syd Barrett failed as a painter and musician!!! Psychiatry was not yet ready at that time. At the beginning he was given the wrong medication.
This is brilliant, thanks for posting. Do you happen to have the episode from 3 weeks later (25/11/91) where The Shamen were on playing Possible Worlds? My VHS copy is sadly long gone and the performance/version was superb.
sadly not, though I know (because I used to run them off after the edits) that janet sp & john henshall (lighting) kept copies of everything. I'll ask around anyway- this sort of stuff is valuable cultural history, whatever you think of the art. 🙂
@@duncan-rmi Thanks very much, I appreciate your willingness to try and locate it, would be wonderful if one of them did have it - I've seen many people hunting around for a copy of it online.
Which version of Rude Boy Talk is this?
@@duncan-rmi It certainly is! I'd love to see it on DVD remastered to blu ray!
You kill me...its all too beautiful for me! Incredible song! Always want more each time im hearing a song of you! Loooovely oh my god!😂😂😂
This is so good,so good! Love it...music cant get better than this & we know it!🫂🤗😉🤷🏼♂️😂
I did enjoy Robbie talking with meatloaf
Love this. Time to dig out my Joe 90 DVD boxed set
I quite enjoyed this one Duncan.
RIP Tenor...
My buddy Pete played the organ intro to this song. By happenstance, I discovered this video. Great to see there was some video of this night!
that's lovely to hear, John. he'd stuck around or else was in the church at a previous gig- maybe one of ours- & told us he was curious & impressed by our secular musical activities in his place; it seemed like the obvious thing to do was invite him to join in. so glad we did- it transformed that set, which had originally been planned to get a bit more typical of us, with rhythms & whatnot. after his intro, we automatically reined it in to what you have here. 🙂
One of my favorite videos - mesmerizing
This version of Killer was actually Seal on his own, without Adamski. The original was Summer '90. Seal went solo and released a new version (this one) in '91.
ah- that note about yt is obviously out of date- this stuff was originally just on vimeo but I moved it here because why not?
Do you have more Videos like this
there are two more excerpts from the tape(s) I had from that day. not much more- I worked there for 17 years, so it never occurred to me to take souvenirs- I should've grabbed more! a first, then b- enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/nWFyy-GoM_0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/4sQcny4r0Bs/v-deo.html
I absolutely loved this back then. Get in from work and watch this, catching some choons.
Nice one Duncan. Like it.
Cracking stuff guys!
Hello. I was wondering if you have the episode with En Vogue from 1993?
Thank‘s for this! Episode was shown on the 04-11-1991 ;)
that sounds about right.
I think it went out on tuesdays, actually, which would be the fifth.... I used to drive my then g/f mad by insisting on watching it at home, even though I'd done the tech-spec at work & prepped the master for the BBC. my other contribution was a wonky typeface used for some of the graphics, though I think that was in a later season where info about the dancers was superimposed on them. I wish I had more. those were fun times.

I worked at limehouse tv; the show was made in our studio at wembley (also home to HIGNFY & the word), while the post-production was at our place in rupert street. when this was on, I dashed out to buy the album, & was astonished to discover that it had been made round the corner in berwick street!
great show. however, from the perspective I can see a lot of propaganda injected by the BBC - black, colour people promoted over white people, "color doesn't matter", unity and other crappy slogans, popular back then
Quality.
Nice one :-)
the other one's here: ua-cam.com/video/Kg2IxmFcv-g/v-deo.html
One of the most powerful pieces of RMI, thanks for this!
gorgeous
Magnifique ! Cela me rappelle la musique très planante / space rock des années 70 dont je suis fan. Ça ressemble beaucoup à Tangerine Dream et en particulier à l'album Stratosfear.

no, I can't remember why either.
This is really nice. Good job.
