As an Interventionist, it's important to meet the needs of my students where they are at. My job is to utilize what I know about the Science of Reading and plug that knowledge into the Orton-Gillingham Approach, which are the steps needed to teach systematic and explicit phonics. In this video I'm using UFLI, however for the Word Work section, I'm incorporating 95% Group. Students are using the...

There is a male echo behind you. Very hard to hear.
Yes, I have two groups running at the same time. Sorry it was difficult to hear.
Excellent!
Hi mam. I really appreciate your work. Through this kids learn while having fun. Just a small request if it is possible if you can continue making these videos. Thank you☺️
Thank you! I’m so glad that my videos are helpful. I plan on continuing to share more videos when I start back in January 2025. 🙌🏼
Respectfully, it’s rrrr, isn’t it?
Hi! I teach my students that /er/ is r-controlled. We use /er/ for words like writer or perfect. /r/ is the letter r (robot, rip, rice).
Where can I purchase the magnetic boards with the elkonin boxes and the magnetic sound chips?
Hi! I use a program called 95% Group. The colored chips and mat are from that program. You can definitely make something similar if you don’t have the program. Blue chips represent the consonants and the red chips represent short vowels.
Hi, can you tell me where to get the boards and chips? Thank you!
Hi! I use a program called 95% Group. You can definitely make your own though. The blue chips represent consonants and the red chips represent short vowels.
Thank you, Ms. Campo. All of your teaching videos mean a lot to EFL learners. Your teaching is amazing and helpful.
I’m so happy to hear that these videos are helpful! 💕
What type of smart TV/board is this?
It’s called a promethean board. It works well with slide decks!
hola me gusto mucho sus videos me estan aydundo mucho a mejorar mis grupos
This is great! What grade is this? Or is this kindergarten?
Thank you! This is a first grade intervention group.
For the blending drill, is thr interactive board part of UFLI or is it something you created/downloaded?
It’s part of the UFLI program. If you google UFLI blending board, you’ll have full access to using it.
Which page/slide is that on the ufli book/site?
The slide deck is found in the UFLI Toolkit.
Love the lesson! Where did you get the lettter tray liner/templates with Elkonin boxes on top?
I’m actually using cookie sheets. I printed out the template from the UFLI Toolkit. If you search online “UFLI Toolkit” you’ll see it. Hope this helps!
Incredible tutorial on how to teach this. What lesson did you initially start on with these children when you began the program with them?
Thank you! I started this group with a review of short vowels. (35 a/b).
Great teaching! You know each student well. Where did you get the board with Elkonin boxes and markers?
Thank you! The Elkonin boxes are from a program called 95% Group. You can actually create a sheet with Elkonin boxes if you don’t have the program.
I was watching your video (which is amazing) and I wanted to know what cards you are referring to. It sounds like canoe cards but I don't think that is what it is. :) Can you please tell me what they are and where to get them? Thank you!
Hi! I’m glad this video is helpful. The cards I’m referring to are the Benchmark Sound Spelling cards. Benchmark was the program LAUSD was using for Language Arts.
Hi, what length is the grey tray? Do u have a copy of that paper that’s inside the tray (: ?
I’m actually using a cookie sheet. 😂 Teachers need to be resourceful! You can find the sheet by googling UFLI Toolkit.
Hi, I would like to know if I can have a copy as well. I can pay for it.
I’m learning about this program and your video was so helpful! Thanks ❤
I’m learning about this program and your video was so helpful! Thanks ❤
@NellyTeach I’m so glad that my videos are helping you learn. I too love to learn from other teachers. 🙌🏼💕
Hi I am following along with the manual. I cannot find the word work list you are using for word work. I don't see it in lesson 38b. Can you please direct me?
Hello! First of all, thank you for tuning in and watching my videos. The word list that I’m using is coming from 38 B Advanced. Let me know if you were able to locate it.
I love it! You are amazing, thank you for sharing
Thank you!🙌🏼 I’m glad this video is helpful!

I’m glad you found my site! I’ll be posting more videos soon! As for my shoes…😂 TJ Maxx!
Where did you find the new concept power point?
Hi! Here’s where I get the slide decks for each lesson. Google UFLI toolkit and you’ll see all the slides. ufli.education.ufl.edu/foundations/toolbox/
I just found your videos and I am so happy! Thank you for showing how UFLI is implemented in a small group setting. On a side note, I love your shoes. :) Can I ask what is the brand??

R sound was corrected wrong. It IS “er”, not “ruh.”
I’m sure there’s different ways of explaining why we don’t say /er/. I teach my students that we don’t say /er/bot or /er/abbit. I teach /er/ as an r-controlled vowel.
I appreciate watching the flow of your lesson. The music stand is a great idea. Thank you! As for the pronunciation of /r/ we also don’t say ruh-abbit or ruh-obot. Here’s a short, helpful video for correct pronunciation for everyone. ua-cam.com/video/9hjepVUdidE/v-deo.htmlsi=8V07tYnvNQfQpesh
Can you share more about your star chart and the secret student? I use UFLI and these sound perfect for my small groups.
Yes! When the kids come to class I choose 1 student who is my secret student. I write their name down on a paper, display it, but cover up their name. As I’m teaching I’ll say things like, “My secret student is doing an amazing job” or “My secret student needs to remember to follow rules” etc. At the end of class I only reveal the name of my secret student if they earned their mini eraser. If the secret student did not earn their reward I’ll say something like, “My secret student did not earn the reward today” and I’ll review class rules. The students are left wondering, “Was it me?” This works really well with my intervention students.
Thank you everyone! I’m grateful to have found my passion! 🙌🏼
Thank you everyone for taking the time to watch this video! 🙌🏼
Did you make the slideshows that go with the lesson on the intervtive board or is it part.of the ufli program?
Hi Megan! UFLI provided the slides. I just add a few additional ones to personalize my instruction. ufli.education.ufl.edu/foundations/toolbox/
You’re welcome. Yay 😃 I can’t wait!! After watching your videos, I think doing these lessons in small group is more effective than whole group. I love so many things about your videos so far. To name a few…I love how you have all the students participate on either a whiteboard or on paper. I love how you have them code the words with colored dots. I also love how you give them lots of praise and use the cones as a visual reinforcement. You have great classroom management and I can tell your students are engaged and are learning to read. Videos like yours are the ones colleges should be showing future teachers.
I appreciate you making these videos. They are very helpful.
Thank you for letting me know these videos are helpful! 💕 I’ll have more coming in the Fall.
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us.
Hopefully it was helpful! 💕
Can you tell me where you got the syllable types poster please?
Hi! Yes, it’s from a program called 95% Group.
What program are you using…Wilson, BrainSpring,…what??
Hello! I'm demonstrating a UFLI lesson. (University of Florida Literacy Institute) ufli.education.ufl.edu/foundations/toolbox/
@@joannacamposliteracy Thank you!
Where did you get the 6 syllable types poster on your board?
Hi! The 6 syllable poster comes from the 95% Group program. I have an 81/2x11 version if you’d like a copy.
Oooh yes, please. It’s the best one I’ve seen. How can you send it to me?
I can email a pdf version to you. What’s your email?
Did you get my email?
I did not. Let me check. It may have gone to my spam.
Your video was very helpful. I like how you put your own twist to it. 🤩You are an exceptional teacher!
Thank you! ❤
Great lesson! It was very helpful since I am learning to use UFLI for reading intervention in my class.
I’m glad this video was helpful to you! If you need any resources or support please reach out!
Love the way you teach! 👏
Thank you! 🙌🏼💕
Yes!! Those babies are very fortunate!
Thank you! I’m fortunate to have found my passion! ❤
What is the booklet you passed out? Is that from the 95% group or did you make some handwriting page to go with it? I am moving to kindergarten next year and want to plan for my phonics lessons ahead of time, while following our scope and sequence
Hi Roxanne. Yes, I make an alphabet printing practice booklet that has the arrows to show them the correct letter formation for each letter. 🙌🏼
Thank you so much for your awesome videos, Ms. Campos. They are helpful.
You’re welcome. I’m glad they’re helpful! @mrleeoke
@@joannacamposliteracy Hello Ms. Campos, I appreciate all your teaching videos. Is your class for ESL students or the ones with dyslexia? How lucky your students are with a great teacher!
My class is an Intervention class. I work with students who need additional support with foundational skills.
I see. Thank you, Ms. Campos. @@joannacamposliteracy
Hi - Not sure whether you still monitor this channel but this video sent me down a rabbit hole because of your use of a monitor and portable cart. The cart looks like it could be an old overhead projector cart but I would love to use some sort of monitor when teaching small groups! How do you power it? Thanks, if you're able to respond back. :)
Hi, Yes I do monitor my channel. Good eye! I am using my old portable cart. For my setup, I use a monitor and attach an HDMI cord from the monitor to my IPAD.
@@joannacamposliteracy I would LOVE to be able to use a screen during small group work. I'm looking into it. Thanks for your reply. :)
Where can I find the same lesson to use in my classroom? I love your demonstration
Hi! Here is the link for the UFLI Toolkit. ufli.education.ufl.edu/foundations/toolbox/ The link for the blending board is: research.dwi.ufl.edu/op.n/file/bca9ju45kvvrvoan/?embed If you need anything else please feel free to reach out.
@@joannacamposliteracyThank you so much for all of your great teaching videos and UFLI resources. They are quite helpful. Thank you, Ms. Campo.
I'm looking for decodables to use in my small groups (gr. 2 sped). What do you recommend?
Hi Kim. I really like Really Great Reading. The resources are free. I’ll link it. https: www.reallygreatreading.com/sites/default/files/blast_decodable_passages_0.pdf
Countdown is a bit easier, however, students who need additional support may benefit from these decodables as well. I hope this was helpful. www.reallygreatreading.com/sites/default/files/countdown_decodable_passages_0.pdf
I love your videos, and I would like to know where I can buy the materials you use to teach mapping and graphing of words with colored chips. Great videos you create, and I thank you for sharing your expertise.
Hi Kelly! Nice to meet you. I’m glad my videos are helpful with your literacy teaching practices. The colored chips come from a program called 95% Group. If you need more information let me know.
