A very relaxing time 👌
@@diggascryptoawarenessdownu7246 Thanks. It was a good camp.
Thanks for sharing your overnighter! Too bad about the holes in your tent. I've done a lot of tent patching with great success-- you'll be able to get it 'squared away.'👍I use '3M Ultrathon' insect repellant to great effect. Yeesh, that possum-eating snake! 😮 I enjoyed your descriptions of the animals....so different from what we have in 'the States.' I'm glad you had a good time. That was a fun watch! 😊
Hi, thanks for watching. I have been away for a few days and this is my first opportunity to respond to your comment. I've had a go at repairing the tent now and it seems to work fine. Years ago a guy commented on the channel that I should try tarp camping. I think he was from the UK and I guess he has no idea about the kind of animal life we have here in a sub-tropical wetlands. There are a hell of a lot of reptiles around, not the kind of thing I'd like to be sharing my sleeping bag with.
@overthebackfence8776 Oh, gosh....yeah, you'd be crazy to tarp camp! I only use tents, too, though we (here in the States) don't have too many concerns. But creepy-crawly bugs freak me out!
@@fleotusbing We have lots 6 and 8 legged bugs down here too. I like something between me and them. If I was camping away from the wetlands I might give tarping a go in winter.
Outstanding video, thanks for sharing, new friend here
Thanks. It helps when the location of the video is so beautiful.
Thank you for a fascinating vlog. I never gave 'backyard camping' a thought until you found your surprise package. I can honestly say that camping in Oz has joined sword swallowing, and 'russian roulette' on the 'not on your nelly' list of things this seventy year old 'pom' has yet to do while time remains. Thanks again.
Thanks for the comment - it was great. Didn't think about camping until the tent was set up and I saw the clouds. I do love the sound of rain. Carpet pythons like to eat bats, possums and rodents. They only grow to about 4 metres in length (about 12 feet), though a close relative, the scrub python which lives a bit further north, has been reported at 8.5 metres. Definitely not something to find hiding at the bottom of your sleeping bag.
Thanks for the review! I'm not in the market for a tent, but I'll keep this tent in mind. I have a new-ish Eureka Timberline 2P. Seems nice (I've used it twice) but it's not been tested in the rain. Great video! 👍
Thanks for watching. I think just about everyone in the world has a bigger variety of tents to choose from than what is available down here in Australia. I've only seen Eureka tents on UA-cam and as far as I know they don't sell them anywhere out here, or if they do, they cost big$.
@overthebackfence8776 The formula for needed tents is N + 1, where N is the number of tents you already have, lol.
Nice.
Yes indeed. It is a great spot.
The pool looks like a nice place to cool off on a hot day.
Yes, there were quite a few people there doing just that. It looked very inviting.
Thanks for sharing your hike! Such a beautiful area! What state are you in....Victoria? 54F/12.2C here in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S. Our summer is expiring, but beautiful weather ahead for you. I hope you get some "overnighters" in soon; I so enjoy them! Great video! 👍
I'm in Queensland actually. A lot warmer and more humid than Victoria
The lookout is well worth a return visit when it is clear of fog. The wide view certainly means you get a lot in to frame, but the trade off is distortion. Nice video. ✌
Thanks for your comment. It certainly is a lovely spot
Gosh, beautiful area, so lush! I guess you folk are easing into summer.....good adventure weather. Thanks for sharing your walk! 👍
Thanks for watching. Yes, it is a beautiful area.
Woodland? It's the bush mate 😅 BUSH. Good fun isn't it.
Yep, it's always fun to get out
Really enjoyed that video, great editing and content. Just subscribed from a fellow UK UA-camr 😉👍
Thanks for watching. It wasn't my first overnighter, just the most relaxing. I seem to be getting used to the noises of the woodland.
I’m just starting out and was good to watch, some good tips 👍
Am so glad I don't have to worry about snake bites in my 'neck of the woods.' But we've got mosquitoes, oy. Great video, really relaxing, and it looks like you had a good time. Am glad you're eazing into warmer months! Nice overnighter....thanks for sharing!👍
Thanks for watching. It was a very relaxing camp, I was surprised I managed to sleep so long. If it wasn't for the possum, I might even have managed to grab an hour or two more.
Great camp! I enjoyed that from start to finish! Yeah, I've heard some strange noises while camping, but I'm quite skeptical, and presume a crepuscular creature rather than something supernatural (though if mentioned in the title, the latter will certainly get more views, lol). Thanks for sharing...I really enjoy your overnighters! 👍
Hi, thanks for watching. I enjoy being outdoors too. There's something special about waking up in the woods.
Nice way to enjoy a cup of coffee! Beautiful area!
Yes, it's a lovely spot. Close by too. I'm very lucky here.
Thanks for the short stroll. I like Stanthorpe, I was there 2 weeks ago, it wasn't like that then. It was cold, wet , windy. This week it's beautiful, cold, dry & crisp. Just like in this video.
@@FairnessFobe I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It is a nice walk. I'm in Brisbane now. The weather is pretty chilly here too.
Hey new sub here great video mate great views..catch u on the next one😊benny
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Thanks for watching and subscribing. I've discovered that there are a lot of reserves near me that are surprisingly nice.
Wow, that view at 3:02 !!! Looked like a fun outing! It's been years since I've used hexamine. The ease of isobutane has spoiled me. I hope your wife recuperates fully and quickly! Any overnighters coming up? Great video! 👍
Thanks. I find the hexamine stoves handy to have in a day pack and a few years ago I bought a bundle of 10 or 20 boxes at a really good price. I seldom use them on overnighters - of which I've done one since this video but yet to edit. Yeah, the view was great - took Mrs T by surprise you can hear the 'Oh wow' when she sees it. She is slowly getting better. She has had some injections but will have to do some physio to fully recover. I am aiming do an overnighter once a month - I might not make it in summer when the humidity is unbearable, but that is the aim. I have cut back my work hours and want to get out more
Hello 👋 dear friends a nice walk you guys had,and what a super 👌 spot for a cuppa ❤.Thanks for sharing 👍 greetings from England 🏴 Simon and Beth 🔔♥️👋
@@sbdiaries Thanks for the comment. Yes, it is a lovely spot that we found. I hope to visit it a few more times before the weather warms up too much.
Nice watch from start to finish! Your older camera did fine! It shocked me to hear you're going into winter; we're, of course, going into summer here on the other side of the globe. Thanks for sharing....that looked fun and makes me want to get out there! I'll check out that bird! 👍
Thanks for watching and commenting. It is getting (relatively) chilly down here now. I was glad I went and I felt a lot more relaxed this time.
You are a great explorer and videographer. That bit of bush there looked very nice.
Thanks for you're comment. Glad you enjoyed the video. Not sure I'm a great explorer, I just enjoy snooping around. As for videography, I think I have improved - and there's nothing like practice.
I do similar solo camping, and so I can especially relate to your video. Good stuff, a very enjoyable watch! I hope you endeavor to do more of these overnighters!👍
Thanks fleotusbing. I know you are a long time watcher. I am hoping to do more - some like this, and some 'midweekers' in official campgrounds that are hopefully near empty.
Nice choice of wild camping spots.Difinatley worth another go an when you pack up there will be a nice place for snakes to sun.lol😊
True about the snakes. I thought it was too late in the year for them to be out, but I saw one on my last day hike.
@@overthebackfence8776 Waiting on next time
just subbed
Thanks
So, how many felony warrants do you have??
None so far. Hopefully it stays that way. It's not a reserve, just unused crown land. It's likely a flood mitigation area. I didn't leave anything behind and didn't light a fire. Some dog walkers pets leave more evidence of their visit.
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks
6 like very nice video hello 💯💯👍🙋🏻♀️⭐
Thanks for visiting the channel. The video is from a nice area.
I must get up there one day and make a documentary! I noticed we both use the same backpack, though mine is khaki colour.
Thanks. It's a lovely walk, though I'd recommend it when it is little cooler. The Mossies are aggressive, numerous and highly tolerant to everything I took with me. But I suppose that's most of Brisbane in summer.
Loving the peace and quiet and the bird song for sure...don't mind the occasional fly over! Certainly a fantastic spot indeed...but Otis would certainly want to make sure that a banana was brought along. lol Take care and enjoy the rest of the week! Bruce and Otis
Thanks. Otis might like Queensland as traditionally Queenslanders are known by people from other Australian states as Banana benders.
Absolutely beautiful...wow! You had great weather, too! Thanks for sharing. Would love to visit some day.
Thanks, it was a great day out.
Such an awesome coastal area!! Whale or not, that is such an excellent area to explore!! On my bucket list to one day get down there!! Awesome!! Bruce and Otis
Yes, it's a beautiful spot. Not that far from Brisbane and I can't beleive that was my second trip in 30 years.
aku sangat menyukai laut
Thank you. It's a beautiful place 🌅
Yow, those painted rocks were amazing....cool! Thanks for sharing!
Yep, it's a pretty amazing place
Fantastic explore...and those views...WOW!! Wonderful stuff!! Bruce and Otis
Glad you enjoyed. A trip to Port Stephens is like going home for me. I was raised there, but sadly moved away when I was 18. Despite the development it is still a lovely spot.
Must be 20 years since I was last there, great place mate , butcher birds sound cool too 👍
Yes. I moved away years ago and don't get back often enough. It's a great spot.
So beautiful! Really makes you want to get out there and into the outdoors. 👏
Thank you. It is a beautiful place.
Wow amazing beautiful scenery
Thank you. I'm afraid I made a mistake in the camera settings. Hopefully I won't make that mistake again.
Oh, I liked the time-lapse, thought it was great! Such a pretty area!
Thanks. Yes, it is a beautiful area, though I'm sure the time lapse can be done better. I made the mistake of setting the exposure rather than letting the camera adjust as the sun rose and the light increased. Anyway, a 1st attempt, I'm sure they'll get better. Thanks for watching.
very cool video and nice views
Thank you. Always good to be outside
Beautiful countryside, and a really nice park!
Yes, it's really nice. Lucky to live in Brisbane. Years since I've been there, and it seems a lot more people know about it. Fortunately, I only work part-time now, so I can get out on days when less people are off work.
Oh, nice that you're able to cut-back on work. Enjoy the extra time!@@overthebackfence8776
A great hike! Such a lovely place, and it looks as if you had it all to yourself. Nice video!
Thanks, it's a lovely place, and right in my backyard. It was a rainy Tuesday morning and I think I did have the place to myself.
Nice to hear all the birds and see the sunrise. Such a calm morning and beautiful reflections.
Many thanks! I sometimes think we forget how beautiful it is right outside our front door.
@@overthebackfence8776 Yes, there is a lot of beautiful bush still about the place, even close to the big cities.
Beautiful, relaxing video....great shots of scenic places, skillfully edited! I've always found flooded quarries to be mysterious and fascinating....so deep, and what lies at the bottom? I enjoyed your video!
Thank you. I often go out for an early walk on the weekend. The reserves are empty and I get to enjoy the dawn chorus. It's a great time.
WOW THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Thanks. It was a lovely walk. I need to get out there some more
Stunning scenery! The creek meandering and wending its way among the granite is spectacular, a very unique spot. Great video!
Thanks. It is a very unique spot. Used to camp there a lot with the kids, say 20 years ago. Not sure why we stopped. Have some plans for the spring - we'll see what happens.
It must be quite a treat to see wallabies and koalas when hiking about! Such beautiful scenery, though the ant nests and spiders made me a little queasy! I'm so glad we're emerging from winter here in the mid-atlantic U.S., and the forests are turning green and coming to life. Thanks for the tour of a part of Brisbane....I enjoyed that!
Our seasons are back to front. This far north in Australia the summers are too hot for walking outside of early mornings or the evenings. And yeah, it's great to see the wildlife too, though I'm not to keen on running into snakes, which are probably the biggest risk here.
Are there some old railway tracks still visible in this reserve, from the quarrying day?
I haven't noticed any remains of a railway line, though there are some indications of an old road.
You hike to a lot of nice places. I like how you immerse yourself into the bush in your videos.
I like to get out for a walk on the weekend - to escape the 9 to 5 routine for a while and reset. Fortunately that is easy to do in Brisbane as we have so much bushland within the city boundary
It's good to have wild areas like this so close to Brisbane.
Yes, I am very lucky to be in Brisbane
What a wonderful place. I would love to go back there again one day.
Girraween national park is a lovely spot. If you get a chance you should visit
@@overthebackfence8776 I camped there in 1987 and really enjoyed the walks.
@@MoreliaAustralia Haven't camped there since the k ids were kids. Have footage for another Girraween video ready to edit and hoping for a family camp in late spring.
