The Long Dark - Taking down the Cougar (Interloper) in just 2 arrows!
This was my second encounter with a Cougar, first was in the daytime, this one was at night time and managed to take him down in just 2 arrows this time! Prepare properly and treat them like a wolf, doing the backward walk to straighten them up and give you more time to aim and make sure the arrow hits, even if its not a headshot!
SOME TIPS FOR COUGAR HUNTING :
1. Super sense - be careful as the Cougar can pick up your trail from further away than other animals, especially if carrying meat etc for smell.
2. Make sure your condition is max - as you can see by the video, even with all the hits it took a lot of damage so make sure you are full before you start.
3. Check the weather - make sure you have good visibility and not too cold, you don't want to have to abandon and lose extra condition.
4. Not overweight - almost goes without saying but to give you maximum time to get the hit, make sure you are not overweight and ideally as light as possibly for extra time for aiming.
5. Treat it like a wolf up close - you aim and shoot at it similar to a wolf but it is quicker. Go backwards as it comes towards you to get max time and try and aim for the head.
6. Plenty of arrows/Good condition bow - make sure your equipment is up to scratch, you don't want your bow to break mid hunt or to run out of arrows.
7. Check your surroundings - ideally try to take it out on flat ground, its much less likely to suddenly change direction once "locked" in a straight line then. Also be aware of other predators in the area, usually best to take them out first if you can.
8. Make sure to get the shot in - ideally you want the headshot but if it starts coming at an angle, make sure you at least get a body shot to stop the struggle cutscene which is end of hunt and quite likely end of your run too.
9. Extra tip - have some birch tea before contact (I didn't on this run but will remember this idea for next time), as it may help add some extra condition back during the battle, which could be the difference.
10. Abandon - not when to engage and when not to. If your situation doesn't tick all of the above, it may be a good idea to just keep well away and fight another day.

This was my first encounter with the new Cougar. Playing on Interloper, you only have bow, no guns but was able to take it down with 4 arrows. SOME TIPS FOR COUGAR HUNTING : 1. Super sense - be careful as the Cougar can pick up your trail from further away than other animals, especially if carrying meat etc for smell. 2. The Long Dark - how to kill wolves (the easy way!)
Переглядів 435 місяців тому
How to teach the wolves a lesson with a bow - NEVER FEAR THEM ANY MORE WITH THIS ULTRA EFFECTIVE TACTIC! Everyone has their own style to do this but I have a few simple methods when it comes to wolves but here’s a few pointers I stick to and are extremely effective : First rule - ALWAYS do on flat ground - if the ground is uneven, try to lead them to a flat piece of ground. This gives you extra...
The Long Dark - How to get down the Ravine without a rope
Переглядів 595 місяців тому
For anyone looking for a way down the Ravine WITHOUT a rope, yes, there is and it still works in 2024 (on my version anyway, I have the latest non-DLC version). WARNING!! : There are kill zones down this slope, so you MUST START AS HIGH AS YOU CAN and cling to the walls, all the way until you see that snow slope then you can go down. Make sure to practice this on another run first not your main...
Sons of the forest - Did someone say traps? HEAVILY GUARDED BEACH BASE WITH BEACH HOUSE
Переглядів 24Рік тому
This was a single man build right next to the beach spawn point, which I think makes for one of the best locations for a first base due to the amount of resources close by. Its is protected by a spike wall, followed by a row of bonemaker traps, then a row of flyswatter traps, another row of bonemaker traps, wooden fence to slow them down and then another row of flyswatter traps! Don't forget to...
Sons of the Forest Safe - 100% Safe Base, even in Winter! Even from John 2.0!!
Переглядів 52Рік тому
Only my second video so be nice!! This base was built from a single rock, surrounded by deep waters, meaning nothing, not even John 2.0 can reach it and the water doesn't freeze in Winter!! Its limited with how wide you can go in order to keep it safe but you can still go up, that's why its built on a few levels, to allow for more storage. This was a single player build, only help from Kelvin!
Sons of the Forest - Day 250 - A quiet day at the lake ... wait til 55 secs in!!
Переглядів 63Рік тому
On day 250, crossed over a frozen lake on my Knight V, the lake was empty when crossing. I turned around to find a few "guests", which suddenly turned into a lot more. You can see a second batch join at 37 seconds and then the chaos about 55 seconds in! Crazy!
bro. 4 arrow. no puma kill in plan list. interloper. low resource only 4 arrow. first shot to head puma down . ahahah iwas expecting death. there is puma spawn at gold mine exit. blocking path. new spawn. after kill puma other puma's spawn at fishing hut location. its very dangerous
Yeah my fourth kill against the cougar was a single headshot, was very surprised it went down in one go! Once you kill one, it opens up other spawn points (think its 3 per zone)
Well done. More intimidating than the bear for sure. Did you try distress pistol yet ?
It's quite a new run I've started on interloper (since the update came out) so not even got the distress pistol yet but will try it when I do! Trying to get an Aurora Cougar next to see how that works out! I think head to head, Timber Wolves are still tougher (if you don't use fire or other resources), Cougar moves very similar to wolf, just faster
Thanks! Works in september 2024, no dead zones on the way
Great you got it to work - as long as you start high and stay high, you stay above the dead zones. There is also a route down from Bleak Inlet top section to bottom section without having to use the rope there too (very handy if coming from CH direction to use both short cuts as means you can get there even if encumbered). Will do a video of the Bleak Inlet route soon too :)
@@welsh_gamer I'll be waiting for that video for sure! These are handy ways to get around
And now you’re stuck down there lol
You're right in the sense that you can't go back up the cliff if you haven't put the rope there first (I always putthe rope there first to allow a return if you want to) but the real benefit of this route is for a playing heading to Bleak Inlet and wanting to take more than the carry limit down with them. I've been in that situation before and found it handy to take extra to take out those timber wolves.I also used it when playing Escape the Darkwalker as always a shortcut route down to Bleak Inlet.
@@welsh_gamer I usually put a snow shelter at the climbing rope above. Go down and drop gear the. Back up, rest and once I have better fatigue lvls go back down and head to bleak inlet. If you don’t have the rope don’t you have to go all the way around to forlorn muskeg back into mystery lake?
