Hi, As I mentioned in my previous reply, the gauge selection is made based on the yarn count which we use for knitting. A small example - if you are planning to knit a 18s count single jersey. We can knit either in 20gg or 16gg knitting machine only. We can't knit it using 24gg knitting machine. Because the space between the needle and sinker will be smaller when compared to the diameter of a 18s count yarn. It's a simple logic. That's it. Hope you have understood.

Hi, We can guess the gauge based the yarn count in the knitted fabric and if we have the full width fabric, based on the number needles and WPI we can decide the knit gauge.

Hi, Thank you for your information. Fabric Quality:32s+40d lycra pique WPI : 34 In general, 32s+40d lycra pique can be knitted in either 24gg or 28gg. Since your WPI is much denser, my guess is knitted in 28gg Fabric width if knitted in 28gg = (3.14 x 26 dia x 28gg) / WPI = 2285.92 / 34 = 67.23 inches End to End.
