What’s the biggest piece of meat you’ve cooked on it? I currently have the Weber smokefire x4 I love but it catches fire on me a little to easy. I’ve had 3 flare ups on long cooks even after a deep clean.
@@JuanCastillo-zv6ob I had a smoke fire and Weber came to pick it up for my return. Tons of fires and pellet issues. For the ironwood I just did 6 slabs of ribs. 40 hot dogs and a ton of burgers. I did have a warranty claim my top rack was damaged so they sent me a new one so I’m using 2 warming racks for packed cooks
Am I correct that you put the hole above the sweep range of the one-touch cleaning fins, but below the charcoal grate? With my old 22" kettle, there was far less room between the fins and the grate; I had to shoot for a small gap between the reach of the fins. With this new 26" kettle, it feels like i have a lot more vertical space to work with, as far as where the hole needs to be placed.
I’m looking to this exact mod on my wsm. A lot of the videos I’ve seen show guys drilling a new spot for the fan. Did you happen to modify one of the existing vents for the fan?
So it works though. Right? Because when I tried this with my SnS kettle, the smoke came out the bottom because the bottom leaks in the closed position. That's because the vanes on the SnS were designed incorrectly and don't snug up to the bowl. The curve is wrong. I wondered how much better the Weber performed with tighter lower vents. Thanks
I have upgraded from the billows now to the pitviper fan and fireboard drive 2. I have had some smoke out of the bottom of unit it's going to leak out till it gets all sealed up. I just purchased this the other night because I wanted to see if I can use the whole cooking space ua-cam.com/video/lSKK1XBVPKM/v-deo.html
@@issombeituni Yeah, haha, I already have the vortex so I just bought a 19" pizza pan but haven't tested it out yet. Re the billows, I just use it for my drum smoker and it works perfectly. Shame it won't work right for the kettle but the truth is I don't need it since I have the drum. Thanks for your quick response!
From 6am to midnight opened it up around 2pm and moved the coals just to check... I just installed the fireboard on my kettle and impressive uploading video soon
Thanks for the video. I wasn't certain about where you have the vent on the bottom of the kettle set...open, closed, or smoke? Looks like it's closed. Is that where you have it set?
Pretty cool it’s interesting to see the lights go on and off in the different houses
Sorry to pepper you with questions. What is the hinge that you put on your lid?
Why the BBQ Guru fan with the Fireboard? Doesn't the Fireboard come with a fan of its own?
I have a WSM 18. Do you feel the Fireboard 2 as you set it up would work as well on the 18 as on the 22?
@@roddhall yes I have the same set up on my 18 and love it
I love the caster setup with bars between each leg. Do you have a video on how you did that?
