Savoy - January Thaw (Offical music video)
Director: Jason Brandenberg
Lyrics:
See the beauty in your drab hometown
Seek the beauty when it's hiding underground
Lost and can't be found, conformity abounds
Never an option to move to L.A
To sit on a hilltop and soak up some rays
January, January thaw (January thaw)
Everything is different from before
January, January thaw (January thaw)
Must've been the strangest thing I saw
See the beauty in your drab hometown
Seek the beauty when it's hidden underground
Lost and can't be found, an urban battleground
Never an option to move to the coast
To gaze down a wide palm-lined road, through eyes of a ghost
January, January thaw (January thaw)
Everything is different from before
January, January thaw (The Mercury's on the rise)
Must've been the strangest thing I saw (Right before your eyes)
January, January thaw (January thaw)
Everything is different from before (To my disbelief)
January, January thaw (Some winter cold relief)
Must've been the strangest thing I saw

Director: Lauren Savoy Photography: Pål Waaktaar Savoy Editor: True August Lyrics: Mountain ranges Dusty heat Town of angels At your feet Lonely surfer On a bike Whizzes by you In the morning light You leave your house On an ordinary day Tip your hat To a neighbour on his way To an office park In downtown LA And you yourself have hopes To get things done today Paper tiger On the wall A Chinese ...
The guitar sound at the end of the song is amazing. It sounds like it's being washed over in waves.
chords that don't seem to go together. red and pink that don't go together. In general, the message of the composition is to combine the incompatible; in creativity, when everything doesn’t go according to the rules. You never know what you'll find. And when you find this sound or this color, you realize that you weren’t looking in vain. Pal, I didn’t expect this from you... I adore your work even more. Thank you, this is very cool! And as always, I dream of receiving a guitar from you as a gift. Yes, this is impossible, I also have no idea what I will find along this path.
I think this is a VERY effective summer-song...perfect for relaxing on a patio at a bar, or at home......vacation music, if you will....i would also recommend 'mediterranea' by duran duran,.
Pure perfection, I can't stop playing it.
Interesting, innowative, lovable 👌🌹
I don't know if it was intentional, but this song doesn't play stereo 🙂
This is a poor copy of Noel's Gallagher's stuff from 2011
The only work by Lauren Savoy I love is the music video for "did anyone approach you?". Paul should've let his wife to simply be a director. That's apparently her cup of tea. With all due respect, making someone to be what they are not is a kind of abuse, i'd say. Marriage is one thing, career is another. And this whole savoy project is a kind of mockery on the fandom, for we expect something nice and profound from someone who is called not less than "the driving force of a-ha", but instead we get primitive and plain music with bad vocals. How is this even possible? I've been familiar with Savoy since 2006 and the only worthy song you guys have is the cover of "sycamore leaves", Paul's voice is amazing there. But this is it.... which is a pity for sure.
Прекрасно!
❤❤❤❤
Savoy is the most beautiful place in the world, I do agree. Vive les Savoyards!
Amazing❤❤❤
parabens paull cagou a musica....
Privilegio de pocos extraordinaria canción!
Le encanta a mi hija de 5 años!
MF is the wannabe
Probably, ...actually the title fits Lauren Savoy. Talk about borrowed feathers. With long intervals she appears on Savoy albums with full songwriting credits but it's now four decades with barely any other work in any field to her name. What is her identity without her Paul connection? Where is her work? She sure talks a lot about writing and directing films and series but nothing ever materialize. A nice person and a great talker but not a creative doer? Magne is a creative doer.
Oh really? The last time I checked it was Magne who composed melody for "Take on me" for instance. And it is always the melody which is being borrowed constantly by another artists, and not the lyricis. Simple as that..
@@astrid6822i totally agree! I find this whole situation strange. Savoy has 7 official albums as far as I remember. However many a-ha fans don't know that savoy even exists. What's the point of it all then? 7 albums is the whole lot of material. There are famous bands that don't have that many albums, yet they are loved by many people, whereas savoy is virtually unknown, and hardly can be considered a band. As for Lauren being a filmmaker, I've read somewhere that she she began studying filmmaking only because of Paul. Originally she came to London to study something like art history. I don't know it that info is true though. They are both wannabes - Paul in music, as he's a nobody outside a-ha, and Lauren is a filmmaker without any films. All in my personal opinion of course
Awesome melody ❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️♥️
Amazing song👌🏻🎶

Brilliant video...everytime I do watch this video I ask myself what´s behind the video. Superwarm vibes!!
Wow, I came looking for A-ha's version and discovered that Pål released it with Savoy, what a pleasant surprise! im glad this song was officially released (unfortunately it didn't go the way I wanted) but I'm still happy that the song saw the light of day
Absolutely love this and the journey we go through ❤
Reminds me of "Cold River" in some places!
I love it! I actually hear a lot of A ha this would have also been an excellent new A ha song
Love this tune!
I'm sorry, but this was just a boring song and just to similare to many other Savoy songs.
Yes...and the Beatles too
Bellísimo !!!😍💖👏✨👏✨👏✨💫
Beautiful! ❤
The half-naked beautiful girl can't save the dragging song. Savoy has seen better days.
Pozdrowienia dla Pana Pawła i Pani Laury.
Something bridges?
Wow, this video is a visual masterpiece! The way the woman dances with the flowing paints, reminiscent of the ups and downs of life, perfectly syncs with the lyrics of "Birthday." It's like a dance of emotions, with the paints representing the various experiences mentioned in the song. As the woman dances, the lyrics about going away to L.A. for just one day and the sense of isolation and desperation create a captivating contrast. The vivid imagery of clothes thrown over a chair, skin lasers, and toe spacers adds another layer of complexity to the visual narrative. The scenes of old rows of houses coming down and signs and places disappearing evoke a sense of nostalgia and change, much like the lyrics describing the transformation of the birthtown and the old stomping grounds. It's a powerful reflection on the passage of time and the inevitability of change. In the end, seeing the woman so happy amidst the flowing paints mirrors the resilience and ability to find joy even in the midst of life's challenges, just like the lyrics suggest. The overall synergy between the video and the song lyrics creates a unique and thought-provoking experience. Truly a work of art! Thank you very much Savoy!!! Hugs from Brazil!
Thank you for your words 💚🤍❤️
