December: Christmas (pan de polvo, Harry Potter cookies), hit my pull up goal | VLOG
🥺 그리고 2학년 학생도 1년 더 화이팅 💜 Lately I’ve been feeling nostalgic and reminiscing so much about life in Korea. Thinking of my students and it made me feel kind of sad that that’s not my life anymore. 🥺🥺 But also relieved to not have the responsibilities of a teacher anymore. xD I hope they’re okay and that they all got into the colleges that they wanted to and that the ones in the military are safe and the ones still preparing for the suneung are still enjoying their youth!
Also this week, Julia/Siying introduced me to Fujii Kaze and I am now hooked on his songs! I love letting his live streams play in the background while work… I have Matsuri stuck in my head, but I LOVE the lyrics to Overflowing so much! It’s so the Untethered Soul. And sometimes during the livestreams he’ll meditate and say stuff like “breathe in happiness, breathe out unhappiness”. 😍And omg I love Tabiji too! The lyrics make me feel a kind of way. 🥺 The chorus gives me the feels!
Last night I was thinking about how it’s been a year of change… at the beginning of the year I was in Taiwan/Korea/Thailand, then moved back to Houston for 3 months while job hunting, then moved to Austin, settled into a new apartment and a new job, started therapy and vocal coaching, continued flying yoga/yoga/weightlifting… And according to Goodreads, read 92 books! But I know it’s over 100 if I include all the fan fiction that isn’t on Goodreads!
Currently reading an amazing Hermione fan fic called Detraquee and I love it so much! It is so realistic omg… Here’s one quote that really got me: “How was she supposed to go out in the world, get a job, earn a living, find a place to stay, feed herself? The mundanities of adult life seemed disproportionately terrifying.” This is totally how I felt about moving back to the US and worrying about the mundanities of adult life haha.

Endless Love sung by Jackie Chan & Kim Hee Seon used to be a song I LOVED in high school, and my dad played it in the car all the time. I suddenly heard it for the first time in years today, and it’s so weird realizing I understand all of the Korean parts but not much of the Chinese parts. xD Such a beautiful song!! Giving me all the feels. Also, I have figured something out. After a couple of ...

Went to an F45 class and it was the first time pull ups were on the routine. The instructor only demo’d the modification, but during the class I did pull ups and the instructor came over and was like WHO ARE YOU?!?! I went to a Brazilian steak house for the first time and thought I wasn’t going to need dinner afterwards but I was wrong… I think all the training I got in Korea from the Korean bbq hweshiks helped hahahahaha. OMG I finally watched Nineteen to Twenty and I am surprised by how much I loved it! First it was hilarious because the cast member that went to an all-boys school reminded me so much of ...

I’ve been missing the school cafeteria food sooo much, so I decided to recreate some. :D Making all of the banchan is so tiring and time-consuming hahaha. Once again appreciating how my mom has always managed to home cook all our meals while working a full time job?!?! I feel like the only thing I do is work, exercise, cook, and eat. Thank you Hannah for flying to LA to meet me so we could go to Harry Potter world together! It was magical!! Also, I actually really enjoyed reading Lies and Weddings. It made me laugh out loud so many times! I thought it was much more entertaining than the first Crazy Rich Asians, but maybe I’ll enjoy it more if I re-read that again! This trip has once again confirmed for me that I do not like...

One thing I enjoy about being back in Texas is that you see lots of other people with sweat stains too. 🤣 Whereas in Korea, it often felt like I was the only one sweating like a pig while other people thought the AC was too cold LOL. Libraries are such wonderful places. One of the best parts of being back home (besides waking up to food prepared by my mom and pre-cut fruit waiting for me in the fridge) is having access to a library with so many books written in English! Only 1 survivor out of 12? I thought I was too tough on myself. If i start from small seed pots like this, eventually i get 50% to adulthood and produce leaves. I was hoping to get at least 80%. Also, many adults start to seed before they provide me leaves. I wonder if I’m starting the seeds either too early in the season or too late in the season.

Looks soooo good
It looks very interesting!
🤤
This is my second attempt at growing perilla from seeds, and I've learned they grow so much better if you start them outdoors without much babying! My first set I did indoors, they all sprouted, and within a week of me taking them from their "nursery," they all died 😂 You're lucky you got one survivor out of yours! I restarted a new batch where I just sprinkled seeds on top of a pot of soil and left them outside, making sure to water daily. It's been less than two weeks and most have survived, and the leaves are bigger and fuller than my previous attempt at the same time span!
I tried growing perilla from seed and wine they all sprouted, they are stunted and appear to have flowers. What am I doing wrong?
What month did you plant them and what country do you live in? It’s quite possible that if you planted them too early or too late in the season, the plant thinks that due to the days being short, it’s time to go to seed (as opposed to leaf) so they can provide seeds for next year.
Woah it's been a while since I saw your vlogs... 500 presents for each and every one of your students you're a kind soul <3 I really enjoyed your content during months when I missed Korea best of luck for your next adventure Connie !!
