He gave full sponsorship to children from the orphanages, with the bank fully paying school fees and hostel accommodations from SHS through tertiary level education. On December 24, under his leadership, he organized Christmas parties for street children in society. All children from orphanages assembled at the headquarters of CalBank. Each orphanage received clothes, toys, food, money, and more. Mr. Adu made a lasting impact on the lives of the less privileged in society, including myself. Ghanaians since independence have suffered from Nkrumah’s youthful exuberance,in the sense that,while he and his Egyptian wife were enjoying clean drinking water at the flagstaff house and overwhelming majority of his subjects drinking water from rivers and streams with animals,Nkrumah’s top priority was allocating resources in a war for total liberation of Africa. If an impasse can be reasonably resolved through dialogue,why go for war,which entails tragic loss of lives and financial costs?
