Stating Colorado high school hockey equivalent to Minnesota Bantams is a bit merciless. I’ve been coaching hockey in CO at different levels for almost 20 years and have seen the sport grow and the talent improve. It's just that the gap between Minnesota high school hockey and every other state, including CO continues to widen. A major difference in MN high school hockey and CO high school hockey is that the majority of Minnesota kids stick with their community / city programs and play for their local high schools whereas talented CO kids leave for a AAA program either in CO or another state. Another major difference, is that unlike most states, Minnesota high school hockey isn't affiliated with USA Hockey. So, unlike most states who rely on AAA programs, MN high school hockey continues to be the elite league producing the vast majority of the state's talent. For example, during the 2022-23 NHL season, 67 NHL players were born in Minnesota (most of any state). 59 of those players played high school hockey. Minnesota now has more active NHL players than any other state or province other than Ontario. It now produces more NCAA Division I players than every other US state as well as any Canadian province. It also leads the way in numerous leagues, including the AHL, USHL, and NAHL and is either a close second or third in other leagues. Difference between MN and CO state leagues: Prep: Shattuck - St. Mary's Prep Team: the premier hockey development program in North America. The program has developed numerous players who moved to Minnesota from elsewhere, including Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, and Nathan MacKinnon Minnesota State High School League: Minnesota high school hockey has become a feeder system for the North American Hockey League (NAHL) the United States Hockey League (USHL), NCAA D-1, American Hockey League (AHL), and the NHL. The league is made up AA and A high schools based on enrollment. Minnesota AAA U18 Teams: Includes Shattuck's AAA team and several non-seasonal AAA teams. Minnesota High School League (Junior Gold): This league is made up of kids who are not good enough to make their high schools’ junior varsity team (varsity is out of the question). These Junior Gold A and B are eligible to participate in the USA (Chipotle) national tournament. Colorado high school hockey would be considered at the Junior Gold level whereas Colorado's AAA teams would compete with Shattuck's AAA. CO's top high school teams and its AAA programs wouldn't stand a chance against the top high school in Minnesota's State High School League.

Every year at Natys, theirs teams who slip thru the cracks to get there, spend couple grand for the week, just to get rolled by every other team in Div? Normally pretty obvious who top 4 teams are from 1st day? But its hockey right, any given day U can win or lose

The fact that I’m even able to watch these games while 1500 miles away is amazing, but the quality of the broadcast and the production cannot be understated. Wish this was around when I played! LOL! These are Colorado's top high school teams? Some of these kids clearly don't have the fundamentals down. Minnesota's top Bantam AA teams would give these two teams a run.
