What handguard are you running?
I would tell everyone in CA (like me) who has a AR or wants one to look up "compMAGs" for their AR. they are a magazine that has a lock in it so you insert it and its locked in. this allows you to have all the cool or "evil" features you want and no fin. but heres the catch. by breaking the action you can use a pin to hit the integral "release" or "unlock" that is in the magazine and pop it out. so, when youre shooting "out of state" you can simply remove the compmag entirely and have your fully functional AR setup and taking normal magazine like anyone in a free state would. yes when you at your local gunrange you leave it in an load the magazine through the trap door, but I dont mind that. i'm not trying to burn it down at the bench lol. but I know and am completed assured that whenever the zombie appacalypse happens and i'm for sure out of state, in about 10 seconds I can have a very functional AR that operates like EVERY other AR without and special buttons or levers or anything. because when the zombies come and the government falls and mad max is happening, you dont want all the other aftermarket stuff messing with your functionality. until then I leave the compag in and only take it out when I'm out of state shooting like a good boy would
Great video
" being a California complaint firearm" will NEVER be a selling point for me
This is a really helpful video thank you. None of the other popular reviews go into details for all of the variants. Sometimes we dont need a montage of tacticool steel shooting 😆
tight groups all day at 50 yards iron sights
Add the mini-14
Grandpa carried a Montgomery Ward 12 gauge pump. Dad carried a 30-30. I carry the Ruger PC. You didn’t leave the house unarmed when they ran things. We pay attention because of folks following the power lines headed for San Angelo. We see more now than we did 50 years ago.
Dope!
Yes we need a pc 10
I have a base model. I like it as it is. The breakdown feature is pretty cool, but I will probably never need to use it. Installed the Glock mag well, a red dot and a light. Done!
Waiting for mine to come in. Can you share what red dot and light you installed? Heard there can clearance issues with the front sling mount and I’d like to still be able to use the iron sights as a backup. Cheers.
I'm still debating between the Ruger PC Carbine and the Smith & Weston FCP
For California the SW FCP comes with an ugly grip fin which makes the choice easier.
Bought a used one this year from a pawn shop. It doesn't have a threaded barrel. Not sure why. I didn't even know they came with threaded barrels till after purchasing it. Shoots flawlessly.
Ruger needs to make this in 10m..
It’s direct blowback
I have the PC9 and the only mods are the MAGPUL backpacker stock and Romeo 5 with see through mount. I live in Connecticut which sucks too!b
Can you put a full parts list for your custom build??
I wish we could get the Magpul stock without the takedown and tiny handguard. I have the x-22 style stock on several Rugers (22lr, 308 and 6.5 cm) and it's perfect. I see you have the Magpul butt stock, but the crom chassis is heavy. I would prefer a fully synthetic, one piece stock.
KTS2K
Magpul all the way. Functionality over looks!
That's super cool
There are plenty of guns you can buy in ca. besides an AR.
I love my PCC. I love the M-LOK foregrip and the factory iron sights. It makes a great tent camping carbine rifle.
What is that black rifle below the green Ruger behind you on the wall?
Just left the shop and I can’t say anything but good things. I walked in as a person not raised around any guns at all and overall intimidated. talking to spike and getting all of my questions answered, I left confident in wanting to purchase my first gun. Every question was answered and I will definitely be back!!
your right its not your grand daddys ranch rifle . his ranch rifle is way more powerful and reliable especially the mini 14 .. this gun wont hold a candle for reliability or power lol !!!
Pretty reliable actually
Nice
very cool. I live in CT and want an AR really bad. The laws make it very difficult to avoid being a criminal on any given day. So i might give this a try. Plus 9mm is MUCH cheaper than 5.56. And thats good for me
I have my AR set up from my time working private sector overseas in the GWOT are of the mid-late 2000's. I have pretty extensive experience with tactical shooting&moving, and aside from just knocking the dust off every so often... I don't train with it at all. For most any situation in general defense training, civil unrest, etc... I'm picking up a Ruger PCC and it will be my go-to tool. If I need to get into a true battle situation (lol), I'll sling the AR. Otherwise, aside from- like I said- just knocking the dust off every so often just to keep the motor skills going... I wll be training up with the PCC from now on. Cheaper ammo, cheaper to train, more convenient... and probably just as good in all but the most dire situations. (And if it's that dire, I'm rolling over to a .308 gas gun, anyway, so... Moral of the story. WHile AR's have the cool factor, don't feel like you're missing out. If I didn't own mine for 20 yrs already, I probably wouldn't with options like a simple but effective PCC. Peace.
Are carbines wa legal?
in California, its called the PCC (Politically Correct Carbine). ; )
I’ve got the pc charger, I’d like to get the upper half (barrel assembly) to go with it.
Someone gave me these important tips on one of my first videos when I was posting a lot & I'm going to pay it (pass it) forward to you: your music is way too loud. I couldn't hear what you were saying. If the volume is on like 5, try -11. Also, if viewers are dropping off at any time before --1:53--, your intro is way too long. If I were you, I'd show your logo (which is damn good btw!!!) for 2 seconds, fading in to your "Giving it to you straight, no chaser" image (then fade out to you on the couch). <-- As soon as that "no chaser" image is fading into view, start your intro audio, "Welcome to Duck After Dark.....", this way, in the 2-3 seconds it takes to fade in/out that image you've already done your intro & the show has started! Hope this helps! People don't often give others creative input on YT, but when people took the time to share their info based on things they've done/learned it helped me out & saved so much time/headaches. Seriously, damn good logo you got there!!! 🙌🙌
Hey thanks man! I’m still learning the ropes on the you tube thing. I really appreciate it! I’ll take some notes and hopefully we can correct some of this
Talking about the awesome Ruger PC Carbine, while resting these weapons on a "Springfield Armory" table mat! I have both, just find it a little funny😂
We have both too! We love them both!
California is a communist country. Communists don't allow gun ownership. Communists are the enemy. NO ONE should be building weapons to sell the enemy
I keep the base model loaded and ready in my VW Golf at all times.
Sorry. You lost me at 9mm.
Ruger first came out with the PC Carbine, and later this year they will introduce the Woke Carbine. It doesn't actually shoot, it just makes a whining sound when you work the action.
Don’t forget about the legislator that rifle is coming out here soon it doesn’t work and you can’t fire it
Amen! 😅
@@dactacical And it costs a fortune, too!
Has ruger discontinued their deerslayer carbine in .44mag?
You know bill’s dead
🤣🤣🤣🤣"I love my rifle", "Impress your friends". I never cease to get a laugh with you gun fetishists. Will you ever hear a mechanic say, "I love my wrench"? A carpenter say, "I love my hammer"? To we who shoot people for a living IT IS A TOOL. But I get it. These pathetic clowns are your bread and butter.
Got an early .40 s&w one and added the magpul stock. Absolutely love it.
Underrated rifle , solid platform accurate and reliable
**good solid gun but Ruger screwed up in not upsizing it and re-chambering it for 10mm and 45acp. **Instead they went with a different design that cost almost twice as much.
I've been reading about guns since before Jack O'Connor got his first .270. I still don't understand this love affair with pistol calibers. They're aren't fast, flat or powerful.
Well just our opinion it’s a great rifle that you can use for 100 yards. It’s something you can defend yourself with there’s always something bigger and better out there but for the price of a nine mil you get to do a lot of stuff within that hundred yard line, not to mention there are a lot of fun add-ons for this rifle. It’s also what you’re setting it up for. If you’re looking for something long range obviously this is not the rifle You want to use. But if it’s something that you want to go out shoot and train with and possibly prepare for the zombie apocalypse, it’s a good option. I also agree with you in the last couple years we have gotten into the years of the pistol caliber carbines.
but why pistol calibers?@@dactacical
Well, I can’t speak for everybody, but I can tell you why for me. One coming back to California two years ago we really don’t have a lot of solid center fire rifles that are Modernized. Opening up Duck And Cover tactical that was the hardest thing to find a California legal modernized rifle that’s reliable that you can defend yourself with that you can go target shooting with and enjoy yourself with and customize. Here in California we have a neutered, A.R. 15. So I started looking at rifles on something that could be modernized customized and have a good time with that will also fit the needs for me in certain situations whether it’s target shooting zombie apocalypse, or having the ability to defend myself. I PC at first I wasn’t super stoked about a 9 mm or pistol caliber rifle Just like most people. Then I started breaking it down and looking at it. Lotta people have an AR platform or 556 platform the argument is I can shoot 500 yards with My 556 rifle platform, Then you look at how they’re set up and they have a Reflex sight And their zone did 100 yards with no way to truly adjusted on the fly. The area I’m in most people that I see or set up for 100 yards are in we started looking at ballistic damage for the 9 mm at 100 yards we were pretty happy with it it was acceptable to us. So we started a platform that can do all these things that we liked. We also checked out the third-party support of the PC carving which we found a couple companies are doing quite a bit of things for the pc carbine. As far as the 9 mm round goes, it’s a cheaper round that you can put down range and have a variety of ammo. Plus on top of that 9 mm is extremely readily available just like 556 and 76 2 x 39. I will say a big appeal that a lot of customers as well as myself has had has been that you’re able to take your Glock if you own a Glock your 19 or 17 and use the magazines for that so you’re not buying two different types of magazines. Back to the 9 mm round itself. It’s something that’s going to get the job done regardless of whatever you’re using the rifle for within that hundred yards.
Also, I apologize for my chat to text. It didnt hit 100% and picked up differently and I didn’t proof read.
@@ClayBlasdel44the MP5 has been a PCC for decades, used by SWAT, special forces, and civilians alike. It’s a tried, true, and proven capable plateform/caliber that gives more stability, range, and versatility than a handgun in the same chambering. I could go on, but you seem to have your mind made up. To each their own.
Great Video buddy!
Yo!!! How have you been?!?
Good. I retired. Living on my farm@@dactacical
What brand ar-9 is that?
That is a juggernaut tactical AR9
It ain't mine neither!
It ain't mine, either.
What ever you do dont slam magines in it will bend the extractor. Other than that its a tank.

I live in Nevada. My PCC is a RUGER PC chassis carbine. It's been upgraded TOTALLY with MCARBO and TANDEMKROSS internal parts. Externally MCARBO mini brake and mag release button, TACCOM Delrin mag well extension and ambi. safety levers, MAGPUL MBUS sights, QR forearm sling cup, Angled Forearm Grip, pistol grip, MS4 QD sling and MOE 1/4" high cheekpiece (for perfect sight alignment). SIGHT-> HOLOSUN AEMS. Those upgrades make this carbine much more ergonomic and reliable than the factory OEM version.

Big deal it is an other pistol round rifle. Nothing like a camp 9 or sub 2000.
The Sub2000 is a wicked rifle though. I own both and the Sub2000 is a go to backpacker gun because of how quick to deploy it is. The wife carries the Ruger PC in her bag and we both run G19s so we’re pretty well prepared in a worst case scenario!
Mine loves the Glock 33 happy sticks and Magpul freedom drums. I love how the backpacker stores a 21 round magazine in the stock
