    I like your build. I have a couple suggestions for simple improvements. I think you should step up to 8ga or 10ga wire from the battery to the fuse block. You have the potential to draw a lot of current from the battery with you have a lot of things charging at the same time. That 14ga wire from the battery to the fuse block might start getting warm and possibly hot enough to melt the PVC jacket. I would also step up to 10ga wire from the fuse block to the "cigarette lighter" socket. That way you can feel comfortable connecting one of those small portable AC inverters they make for vehicle use. It would be a quick way to add AC power with out sacrificing portability.

      I love the suggestions! And those would make for some solid improvements! Notes taken for v2! Thanks!

    The best thing is you can build what you need with a project like this. I'm looking at the 100AH mini Lifepo4 batteries for a DC and AC box. FYI the ham radio guys are using Genasun charge controllers for their lack of RF noise.

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget 2 місяці тому

      Oh good to know! I know Rf noise is a big concern for some. Thanks for checking out the video!

  • @AXNJXN1
    @AXNJXN1 2 місяці тому

    I certainly commend your build; but you really need a 'Shunt' on Lithium battery setups. Take some time to research that but you really, need that to accurately determine battery levels (properly). The inexpensive, little screen you installed are immensely insufficient compared to a shunt. Just sharing. Nice small package for sure though.

    Hello ! Do you know if the little button panel is waterproof? I'm planning on put them on a bike ... Thank you.... by the way great video, and greetings from Costa Rica

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget 2 місяці тому

      The front of the panel, the face of it is. As long as you have that sealed up it should be fine. The back side is vented but should never see any moisture inside the box. And thanks for watching!

    I don’t need an AC outlet for my needs, this is exactly the motivation I needed to build a DC only power supply! Great video!

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget 2 місяці тому

      Thank you! And that was exactly my thinking. I don’t need ac power most of the time at all. So why carry it around? Worst case, I have a built in inverter in my jeep with a 110 outlet if I ever needed it. But this box is perfect for just about all of my needs!

    • @longshot7601

      I would put the display under the carry handle. I think it's more likely to be damaged on the cover and the handle itself will help protect it.

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget 3 місяці тому

      Absolutely. Adding an inverter would be simple to add to this setup. May need a larger case depending on the size. And that’s the best part about doing it yourself, you can tailor it exactly to your specific needs! Thanks for the comment and feedback

    I have been all over the West side of this lake but since you guys said you were on the East side and have never been over there. So how do I find these spots that you guys found? You mentioned Gaia Maps but I use ONX. Is there a way to follow you within Gaia or something? Places look awesome.

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget Рік тому

      Hey! This was our first time on the east side of the highway(near the lake) we usually go on the west side of the highway. Haven’t made our way to the other side of the lake yet but will sometime I’m sure. All of our tracks our public on Gaia. If you get the app you can look at the area and find them. We try our best to mark as much as possible and post pictures with everything and include a photo of the jeep at that location so you’ll know it’s us! Thanks for watching!

    Love it up there and have found some great spots just past Hochatown on the west side of 259. If you are in the DFW area, you may also when to have a look at Angelina National Forest out in East Texas. Quite nice out there if it is too cold to go north but not quite as nice as the Ouachita Mountains.

    Yes you can inflate all 4 tires at the same time but it will take 4 times as long

    • @gearbudget
      @gearbudget Рік тому

      You’re not wrong. For me it’s just easy. Takes about a minute to hook up all 4 tires then just wait. With this compressor we are talking less than 10 minutes to air up. And having all 4 tires equalized perfectly is a big benefit also. Will be doing a full overview video soon
