    If I wanted to upgrade my existing system (200w panel with a bmpro and agm's) to 4-5 panels 1000w with lithium and victron gear. Would you need to drill a hole in the roof for every panel or series parellel string to access the cables through the roof. Or do you try and run them all back to a single penitration? Do you use cable entry galands or jb's. Hate the thought of having a leaky roof in the future. Great vid. Very informative. I hope to do an upgrade like this eventually.

    Not all semi-flexible solar panels are the same, and to say they all underperform compared to glass is misleading. eArc by Sunman Energy is IEC and CEC approved for grid tied solar installations.

    • @solarnsat
      @solarnsat Місяць тому

      Fair enough comment mate, but we have seen nearly all brands fail within 18 months of installation and admittedly we only see the ones that fail. At this stage Sunman may seem to be the pick of them, it will be interesting to see how they perform long term.

      @solarnsat The issue is off-grid vehicle solar panels are not required to comply to a standard, so a lot a rubbish is on the market. As an example, how many off grid solar panel brands can quote the temperature coefficient of the solar cells used?.

      Easy to say, but sometimes there are reasons to stick with a 12v system and sometimes it makes sense to go a larger voltage, we work with our customers to get the best outcome for them not just suggest random things because you or your mate has something different! And yes we do offer and install 24v & 48v systems if particular requirements are met!

    Awesome system team. What water and grey water tank sensors are you using? I’m using mopeka at the moment but find they are pretty inaccurate. Might be something to do with the height of the water tank in my 2023 Jayco all terrain. I’ll be keen if you do a tutorial on using your water tank sensors. Keep up the great work ya’ll.

    Impressive system and install. I don’t think they’ll be running out of power too quickly. It’s just a pity that the van manufacturer can’t supply the van without their system in the first place, saving your customer some money.

    I want to build a similar box. Do I need isolators between the dcdc charger and battery, and also between the solar charger and battery, to turn of whichever charger is not being used? Or will it not cause problems to have one charger submit a current to the other?

    Great video. Nice in depth content. Nice one lads. In this system your running 2x DCDC, 3MPPT and I'm sure maybe one DC fuse box for essential and another for non essential like lights etc.. Hi you fused the other components with the lynx distributor on has 4 inline fuse holders. I will be running Victron 2X MPPT , one DCDC, 2 DC fuse boxes , one inverter charger . Would a power in lynx be a better cheaper solution or really should run 2 lynx distributors together to have the Led indicators? Love you input as I'm keen to see what you did there also.

    Why no smart shunt for measuring thr DC load side of the system? Also why no gui mods or any wireless temp sensors for things like the fridge, electrical enclosure? Makes automating the cooling fans operation far more seamless vs always on. Why no alternator upgrade on the tow vehicle? The owner isn’t short of a dollar so being able to completely utilise the dcdc’s seems like a no brainer

    • @solarnsat
      @solarnsat 8 місяців тому

      Thanks for watching mate! A Smartshunt wasn't necessary on the DC load side although there can be benefits to accuracy by fitting one. The system already displays the combined in and out on the Touch 70 using the battery side Smartshunt. Especially in such an AC heavy system the DC loads are very minor in comparison. No GUI Mods because although it's pretty cool, we as a business and Victron Distributor only work with officially supported software for our own installations. The information provided by the official OS is more than sufficient and once the new Venus OS releases everyone will want to upgrade to that anyway. Temp Sensors are fitted, we also often trigger the fans by temperature (Check out some of our other videos). Since we use silent PC fans though you can't hear them anyway. With the 300000 hour design life too you shouldn't have to worry about wear on them either. An alternator upgrade is often a great choice, especially when in setups with much larger DCDC charging systems we highly recommend them. (Check out the 24v System we did for our TV Show Exploring Off The Grid, we installed 2x 100A DCDC Chargers that required it) We also have a 79 Series lined up in future that will have multiple Orion 12/12-50XS's installed to it, it will have an alternator upgrade as well to facilitate that larger load. On this particular job however, to upgrade the alternator for an additional 7-8a of charge didn't feel worthwhile. The battery bank is currently only running at 65% of its maximum charge rate even with every charger running so more charging can definitely be added later if wanted!

    Hi! Looks very nice, but I don´t get it: The dish seems to no more be able to do an automatic orientation into the right satellite direction into the sky. It seems to just have one fixed direction with your solution only? Doesn´t this influence the connectivity to the Starlink satellites?

      Say if you had a generator set on a timer when no one is using AC power, it would allow battery charging but not activate the inverter feature when the generator shuts down. The inverter uses a bit of power when on standby with no AC load.

    Hi Ben Can you please advise how you can acquire a true earth when using a generator on this system The question is relating to the earth stud on the enerdrive appliances which requires connection to earth In using the generator I’m referencing off grid/ remote camping. Dirt, river, trees , sky, nothing else - not big 4 caravan park. Cheers Phil
