We Jamaicans operate on our own time…..we NEVER arrive at any entertainment event at the stipulated time…..so many were just arriving when the fight was already over…after all, it was just over a minute in the second round that Foreman won
Loved watching Troy box I remember him fighting an American fighter very early in his career, Dwayne Lockman I think his name was,he was a golden gloves champion I think Gus Mercurio said with a lot of fights under his belt, fight was televised on ch7 back then. Troy took him apart and stopped him in the 7th or 8th round, was an awesome fight, ton of pressure , haven’t been able to find a clip of it anywhere 🤔
Bloody oath life can be tough,he didn't deserve that ,and the struggle to come back from it.A great Australian.
Great fighter. These days in the era of the four belt world champions Hector would have captured such a title for sure.
Комментатор мало понимает. 🤦🤦🤦
Seeing a UA-cam Short about Dollree Mapp and her case of Mapp vs Ohio regarding illegal search warrants by police with her being Don King neighbor and his house being blown up thus starting her case brought me here! I'm a core Millennial and I knew Don King as a Promoting show Clown that ripped Iron Mike off but I never knew this about his background. lol.
Champ.

haven't seen this man for 2 decades, I still have the birthday card and keyring he gave me for my birthday! he is my great uncle, and i would love to hear from him again :)
That was my pop my dad is his son black rayner😢😢
In 87 a iesit campion modial la tineret la Bucuresti si de atunci na suferit nici o infringere
I was told by my parents about Jimmy's misguided comeback. As Jack Dempsey once observed - they never come back. And for those who cite the few exceptions to Jack's rule, there are exceptions to almost every rule just as there are pink elephants, but most are grey.
Does anyone know why Ramon gave up boxing when he was on the cusp of world title fights? All I know about him is that he was associated with some gangland figures.
I think he had an accident in the surf in Sydney which forced his retirement.
He retired at 22 due to an injury to his shoulder. The surfing accident was what the media was told but it wasn't the cause of the damaged shoulder. I've known him all all my life but I suppose I was considered a bit too young to hear the real story. He won't tell me what happened. His nephews are my cousin's, my uncle was his brother and none of them would tell me either. There are a few people still alive who know the facts. He was a big loss to Australian boxing - good judges called him the second Les Darcy, not the best "since Darcy". He had a reputation for demolishing his opponents, most didn't fight again but he made his fortune in the demolition business, high rises and did very well before retiring to the farm.
@@davidstone2549 👍. Thanks for the info. It was a long time ago and my memory is not what it was. But he was a very good fighter, that i do remember, extremely hard to get on top of and defeat. When i first saw him was memorised by his size and physique. Thanks again for the update. 😀
Do you have their exhibition?
In out house he was a house hold name.
I recall watching sparrow fight my mate 15yr old ..... B.Dunningham aka. Bodie Malone , out of Burnie Halls fought at Newtown Leagues. They were the days free entry into many live bands and night clubs a lot of Burnie's fighters would be on the DOORS around Sydney my mate sorted sparrow.. Thanks for the memories sparrow....
Don King is a psychopath, plain and simple.
11:40 Swwwwwweeet Mullet Man of the 80s
Don King sucks, but Boxing without his big matches woukd probably suck worse.
Tim Witherspoon is truly a good guy.
Stevenson, Savon, Etc., 👑 👑 👑 🇨🇺 🏝️
Kinda reminds me of Dr. Dre and Suge Knight. Dre was happy to get away from the nightmarish contracts and drama.
That Ray got this bloke to SPEAK at all is a minor miracle. I trained at Bernie's in '73, and never heard him utter a word. I sparred with him. Dave (Charkey) Ballard wouldn't speak a syllable to anyone, and was unapproachable. However, to his credit, he WAS one helluva sensation in the ring...
What was the DQ for?
I remember watching this with My Dad when I was 14 .. we both agreed we had it a draw..
12 in a row. 400m sprints.
Australia produced some truly great fighters.
And now Ray
NZ he fought rocky
Rocky Marciano fight didn't ear that one
Respect
I was there also. Drove down from Northern NSW. The atmosphere waa something else. We sure did a good job adopting this champion. Thanks for the upload.
Most did back in the day. Managers and so forth weren't as corrupt as they are today, but still had their fingers a little too deep into the pie. I am Ray 'mustard' Colemans grandson. My pop died with nothing other than a beautiful family by his side. 🤙
I met Ivan recently and found him to be and incredibly personable and humble man with tonnes of knowledge not only in boxing but life.
RIP Ray
Very interesting compilation of lesser known boxers of the golden era of boxing. If possible, please provide more footage of these interesting and courageous fighters.
