Here at Brainless Entertainment I intend to create game-play videos for a variety of video games with a leaning towards fantasy RPG/ARPG/MMORPG but I also have a strong interest in mil-sim or mil-scifi. I can easily think of dozens of games that I'd like to add coverage for as I endeavor to expand my content creation capabilities. Although video games tend to be my preferred form of recreation I also enjoy a range of activities from watching movies and TV shows to spending time out in the natural world such as: hiking, fishing, kayaking, etc. I'd like to expand future content to cover a wide variety of activities if it seems that there is a sufficient interest for such but for the foreseeable future I intend to focus on video game content. If you think you'd like to see other forms of content here please let me know!
Thanks for taking the time to look over my channel and I hope that you'll find something that catches your interest!
At any rate, I wish you well. Cheers for now

Tried it out and agree. Falls flat in game play.
I'm sorry to hear that your experience has been similar to my own. Maybe the game is just not for me, maybe my expectations are too high, maybe the same is true for you as well. At any rate, thank you for sharing your perspective. I hope that you're well and doing something that you enjoy, cheers! 👍
I kind of agree, I mean, my very first game on Xbox 360 was the first Space Marine and it felt different : the IA wasn't better, they were many problems, but the game wasn't making you struggle : you tanked and smashed until you either won or died. In this one, I need allies, cooperation, strategies : melee is not feeling good unless you can execute, distance you don't have enough ammo or knockback to deal with ennemies, you can't rely on AI teammates to do the job... The game is good, great with friends, and overall beautiful... but single player make feel like difficulty is achieved by struggle and lack of fluidity.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's been a long time since I played the first Space Marine as well. I wanted to play through it again leading up to Space Marine 2's release but didn't manage to find the time. From what I remember Space Marine had some issues as well but I think that it's single player experience did indeed feel like it was designed to be a single player experience. I wish that I felt similarly about what Space Marine 2 offers but unfortunately, I do not. Cheers, I hope you're doing well! 👍
There's no pleasing some people
If you're implying that I am somehow impossible to please (not 100% sure if you're referring to me or other commenters?), that is simply not true. I 'think' that I do understand where you're coming from though and I'll try to spend a little bit more time talking about some of the things that Space Marine 2 has done extremely well in future videos (which is literally quite a lot). Cheers, I hope you're doing well.
Space Marine 2's developers have released Patch 3.0 earlier today, the 26th of September 2024, which sounds to have made significant changes to MANY aspects of the game. Among them and most pertinently to this particular video, significant changes to the behavior of friendly AI in the story mode as well as adjustments to Veteran difficulty, enemy behavior, the Armor management system and much much more. I'm making an effort to test out the changes very soon and plan to release an addendum video in the near future to talk about the effect of these changes on the single player experience. A link to the patch notes can be found below. Cheers and well wishes to all. 👍 store.steampowered.com/news/app/2183900/view/4696781406109497749?l=english
I don't know if you know this but I'll tell you, there is a passive in the runic skill tree that lets you cast any spell you want, it's at the bottom, I don't remember its name, you just need to arrange the order of each element on the board to cast it and with a single button you can use it.
Oh cool, thank you for letting me know 🙂 I think I might have been aware of it but I hadn't really thought to look over that tree again since lol. Cheers, I hope that you're doing well!
@@Brainlessentertainment
I got a full playthrough of the campaign and every operation mission on my channel, if anyones interested.
Single player experience is still good, but not as fun obviously. The AI does stay with you atleast, which is better then some online players. As far as the combat its amazing and those encounters you were struggling with is just a skill issue.
I apologize, I replied to your comment and after posting it realized that I was coming off as very combative. Thank you very much for taking to the time to share your thoughts, I hope you're doing well 👍
This video....unfortunately, no.
I'm genuinely glad for you that your experience with the game was better than mine. Cheers
Hot take, but I think there should only be 1 difficulty for this game. I don't like the regret from playing on a normal difficulting and finding out I got a subpar experience. I am not going to go back and play the game again, the experience was already had. I can't be surprised by the plot anymore.
I think that I'm pretty much in agreement with you. After I got frustrated with the AI during my initial run (specifically on the elevator on Avarax) I put the game down for the day. I came back the next day and played through on Easy and then immediately went through again on Veteran and the experience was none the richer for it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I hope you're doing well!
Skill Issue
As I've said, the squad AI is far and away the biggest issue I have with the 'story mode'. I don't think any amount of skill building is going to change that. Thanks for the comment.
This review is all over the place. I’m not trying to be rude or anything, but it just doesn’t really make sense. Also if it’s hard for you, just turn down the difficulty until you get good.
Also, you say that AI mates can be brain dead sometimes, if you mark the target, you want them to attack or area they’ll go to it!! I think your biggest problem is just not knowing how to play the game yet
Fair enough. Far and away my biggest complaint with the 'story mode' is that it is not designed to be a well crafted single player experience, it's designed for cooperative play with others. The AI are given as a compromise but they're quite poor when they're at their worst. I was not aware that you can issue them orders. I think I might have heard mention of it somewhere but it was not something that was made explicitly clear and I certainly don't recall learning that anywhere in the game. It sounds like you're confident that that will make a significant difference. Thank you very much for sharing that, truly, Cheers and I hope you have a great day!
Hey man, instead of complaining that you suck as a gamer, learn to play!!!
When a take is this bad, you don’t waste your time with the video. Dislike, and comment.
I'm glad the 'story mode' and the squad mate AI didn't sour your experience. I wish I could be so lucky. I'm genuinely curious, do you have any idea how my video might have found it's way to you in the first place? It seems that you would have nearly no interest whatsoever in hearing what I've said here, I'm truly fascinated by this. Thank you for taking the time at any rate, cheers (edited for typos)
I’m not the best at these kinds of video games but I’ve played a lot of a mixture of both, I find single players really fun on lower difficulty I’m not really looking for a challenge I’m looking for something that I’m not stressing about when playing I’m just here to kill bugs
Interesting, I've been blinded by confirmation bias, because me and my friends picked it up on release and we always had atleast 1 other person running campaign with us if not a whole trio. When we were duoing campaign we would laugh at Chairon doing dumb shit all the time. Me and my buds never griped about friendly AI because we never really had to deal with it, even in Operations. But out of all the things the game does right, this wrong can be fixed with updates. (Thanks for clarifying that this review is on the SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE and not the Space Marine 2 experience as a whole. It also feels like youre just looking for a Souls Game, not gonna find it here. Its built around co-op, pvp and the campaign is just for us 40k nerds to masturbate to
The parry mechanic is the most important aspect of the whole game, yet it is very poorly explained at the start. I was frustrated by getting unreliable results in close combat; once I understood it, the game became much easier. There is a decent amount of hit and run to do which doesn't feel space marine like that for sure. The game is still goated! I've cleared everything in Ruthless and am just waiting for more DLC now. :)
That's cool man, I'm glad that you found the rhythm and had a great time :) cheers!
I couldnt disagree more. Almost 90 hours in, 1 achievement away from getting them all, played early campaign, pve and pvp most of the time solo and had a blast with it. Don't let this video take you away from buying to experience it solo, search other content creators and i know for sure most of them would recommend it. I can only agree when you say sometimes the ally AI is not pressing computer buttons, or elevator buttons, but if they did you were not experience the gameplay, i don't see it as poorly design, its just how games like these work, gears was like that too, they're there for the story and to help you kill minions, sometimes they don't execute but its cuz you need armor so they let you do it cuz of the gameplay. But invisible objects? Bugs? Don't know what game your talking about, but it isnt space marine 2
I'm glad that you did not have a souring experience. Invisible objects was mentioned and shown by another UA-camr, TDT, in his UA-cam video "Pushing Space Marine 2 Secret Combat Mechanics to its Limits" ua-cam.com/video/12sjAK9KR3Y/v-deo.html where he shows 'broken/invisible objects' blocking movement as a detriment to the games mechanics. My only personal experience with 'bugs' that I noticed, were resource items - medicae stims and grenade packs becoming non interactable and I have also had the ammo crates disappear during the elevator sequence of the first mission on Avarax. Other users have also reported objects becoming non-interactable; in fact, while searching for the proper spelling of "medicae stims" the first item that popped up on google was a Reddit thread describing exactly this issue www.reddit.com/r/Spacemarine/comments/1fdeli6/cant_pick_up_medicae_stims_or_grenades/ I made no complaint about AI not pressing buttons or soloing objectives, I have no idea where you are drawing that from. To further clarify, I am in fact talking about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. More specifically, the Story mode. Even more specifically, as a single player experience; whereupon I further clarified that I'm fully aware that the game is not explicitly designed as a single player experience. I think you are being purposefully disingenuous, I apologize if I am incorrect about this. At any rate, I hope that you have a good day.
Solod veteran first playthrough was a blast
Same no issues.
It's not as though soloing the game on Veteran difficulty was an insurmountable challenge and I certainly didn't present it as such. I even acknowledged that there is a tremendous amount of the game that is absolutely phenomenally well done and that I was, in fact, massively impressed with the lore, attention to detail, environments etc. Far and away my biggest complaint is with the behavior of the AI teammates as relates to the design of the games various encounters. I'm glad you had a blast, I also had fun with the game but it was far from a flawless experience. Cheers 👍
@@Brainlessentertainment and i lived the ai, i dont want bots killing my targets for me. They step back with animations to give you an elimination if needed. Sure it can get wonk sometimes but im also the guy who will play vermintide solo. I heard they updated the ai so give it another shot
@@optimusprime5448 I don't want to misconstrue your points so I'll respond to what you've said in quotes, Thank you for stopping back by btw! (edited to add this bit at the beginning) "and i lived the ai, i dont want bots killing my targets for me" - I also lived the ai, I don't believe that there's an alternative?. I also don't want them killing everything for me and I spoke specifically about that in the video; that striking the right balance with friendly ai is a very difficult task, that you DO NOT want them doing everything for the player. "They step back with animations to give you an elimination if needed" - I noticed that as well, during the first mission following the prologue. I saw the behavior and concluded 'ah, they must leave low health enemies for you to regenerate armor via finishers'. I don't think I mentioned it in this video but it's in the videos from my 'would be' playthrough. "Sure it can get wonk sometimes but im also the guy who will play vermintide solo" - I too have played a lot of solo Vermintide! At times I think it was even more fun that way as well. It did also make me wish for a proper single player Vermintide experience. Did you never wish for a proper single player Vermintide experience? "I heard they updated the ai so give it another shot" - I'm aware of patch 3.0, others have also mentioned it as well. I mentioned in the pinned comment that I would be looking into it and spent a fair bit of time with it yesterday and in the evening the day of the patch. It was interesting to see that they made such a wide range of changes to such specific parameters for particular enemies as well, among other things. Unfortunately, it's impossible for me to experience the story again for 'the first time' so I obviously can't provide that kind of perspective but it does 'feel' like a smoother experience, I think. It's difficult for me to 'self assess' how much the experience has changed as a result of the patch vs my increased hours of experience with the game and the resultant 'curse of knowledge', that is, knowing near exactly what is going to happen and when. Though I do think that the various tweaks have certainly had a noticeable effect and I imagine that a new player will have a smoother experience than the one that I had. I am 'planning' to release an addendum video 'soon' but I couldn't say how soon. Between you and me though (and anyone else that happens to read this comment) I don't think the patch does or possibly could do enough to significantly sway my opinion. Talking strictly in terms of Space Marine 2's single player experience, it simply is not designed to be a single player experience; I believe that much of the story mode's design is a compromised alternative to a single player experience. The very positive caveat is that it can be experienced entirely with your friends or at least other online players and would then transition very naturally into the operations and eternal war modes, which I believe to be the games intended design focus. To be clear, I don't think that Space Marine 2 needs to, has to, or should have to be a single player experience. My evaluation of it as such is very much akin to a 'square peg round hole' type of scenario, I understand that and did make a meaningful effort to convey my understanding as such. I don't think that I'm wrong for having wanted a better single player experience from it but I think that I did fail to articulate my position in a manner that viewers could readily accept if not appreciate. I'll certainly make a significantly stronger effort to better present my position in future videos but I have very little desire to speak much more of my thoughts on Space Marine 2. Sincerely, thank you for taking the time express your thoughts. I hope that this comment finds you well and that you're doing something that you enjoy, cheers 👍
I would have liked to be able to walk around in terminator armour, and to drive a land raider. Other than that I thought the single player was bad ass
That would be extremely cool. I'm glad that you enjoyed it, Cheers and well wishes!
singleplayer rocks
I'm glad that you enjoy it, envious even. I hope you have a great day, cheers 👍
Aaaand I don't recommend this video👎
As is your right. Do you have observations about the squad-mate AI that you would care to share? Thank you for stopping by at any rate, cheers 👍
@Brainlessentertainment they don't fight very well all the time but they have a great amount of life and are loyal as a dog and will pick you up at any cost. Aside from that, Saber Interactive is working to fix it. Originally thay didnt want the ai squad mate to steal thunder from you, the player, but they've responded and will address the issue 😉
@@The_Kaiju-X_Project I have no doubt whatsoever that it's very difficult to strike the right balance with friendly AI, you certainly don't want them clearing the game for you. Thank you for your response, I hope you're doing well. 👍
@Brainlessentertainment that patch is officially live. The bots now are more effective in battle. They've removed certain restrictions so that they're actually helpful but still dont steal the spotlight. They also are more likely to do finishers now. Check it out
@@The_Kaiju-X_Project Hello again and thanks for letting me know. I'm looking over the patch notes now, I'll try to give it another going over very soon. I hope you're doing well, cheers for now 👍
I'm editing a 'No-commentary' version of this same video that will go up soon under its own playlist and I'll continue to do so for all subsequent episodes. No one asked you go play cod or dustborn
I know of Call of Duty, no idea what dustborn is. Thanks for stopping by 👍
sounds like your gameplay that falls apart in high pack density, if you dont know whats going wrong then its probably you. Defo a skill issue, if you knew how to parry doesnt matter how dense the mobs are you will be able to kill them all, on your own , without the AI, i didnt even notice there was AI half the time i just solo the whole campaign. doesnt sound like you really know much about 40k lore either, which is most the only reason to play the campaign otherwise you just play ops or pvp. probably not someone id trust for a review of a warhammer game
Honestly if the AI were not there in the first place I probably would have very little of anything else to complain about. I'm glad for you that you didn't notice they were there, seeing them at their worst is what put me off in the first place. @@Brainlessentertainment the ai not carrying you seems like a bad reason to not recommend a game, when the game has an IP like this theres alot more reasons to why people would play this game.
@@luciferm2499 I did particularly mention the danger and undesirable consequences of having AI team-mates that are too good, I apologize if I did not make that point clearly enough in the video but it was specifically mentioned. Also, I tried to specifically convey that I solely do not recommend the 'single player experience' of this game (I know it isn't specifically designed as such); I tried to make clear that I fully understand that the longevity of this game is designed around Operations and Eternal War modes. I also spoke very highly of pretty much every other aspect of this game, the attention to detail regarding the lore, environments, artwork etc. are all exquisitely realized. If I did not make that clear enough, again, I do apologize. I think that there are many very reasonable people that enjoy Warhammer/Warhammer 40K and that also enjoy video games and that would very much like to enjoy a single player experience of such. I don't think it's unreasonable of me to suggest that such a category of individuals might be dissatisfied with Space Marine 2's offerings if they're looking for a more specifically crafted single player experience. Thank you for taking the time to discuss, I greatly appreciate that you're taking the time. Cheers 👍 (edited for phrasing)
This has to be a 5 head IQ rage bait video to get engagement on the channel 😂 and it's working.
I'm sorry, I've tried to keep up with all of the comments but I somehow missed yours. I wish that that were true but my experience with the AI was genuinely quite frustrating. Another commenter here has mentioned that the first patch to address issues with the AI is here and is now much improved but I haven't had the time yet to check it out. Thanks for the comment, I'm sorry for the late reply. I hope you're well! 👍
😂😂😂
I'm not sure what's being expressed here but thank you for stopping by lol. Cheers!
Making the bots good requires ability, time and money. Sadly "single" player campaign was created with coop in mind...Combat is bit too shallow for my liking, but you can certainly excel at it. What one thing I notice in your gameplay is that you miss a lot of your dodges and parries. This is where your main sustain comes from.
Thank you your thoughts. All of the footage on my channel is from my initial experience going in blind, I did not want to create a false impression and you'll see all of those mistakes as a result. I hope you're having a wonderful day, cheers!
I completely disagree. I loved the single player and didn't need the AI companions myself, but each to their own.
I'm glad that it worked for you. I imagine it would have worked much better for me if it were designed without AI or co-op in mind. I hope you're out slaying in the Emperor's name, cheers!
4:23 was almost impossible! I had to go on easy! I agree with you about the AI.
Trying to protect the Antenna' was where the whole thing started to come apart for me, I wish I could unsee the AI when it's at its worst. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you're well!
@@Brainlessentertainment I'm ok fellow gamer!
@@hannible1002 Glad to hear, I hope you're getting into something you enjoy!
Played the whole thing solo except the first mission with a buddy. This was on normal mode. I really enjoyed the game, enjoyed the story, did find the game play a bit repetitive towards the end but the novelty with the story was fine plus the final boss sequences was great
Thank you for sharing your experience and your thoughts! There is so much of this game that is tremendously well done, I hope that my praise for all of that did come through in the end. Well wishes!
Past normal difficulty levels/units/bosses start to change as well. I was playing on substantial and was surpsied by a mid boss fight on one level that didnt happen on normal. Really good game, can't wait for them to add more.
Lets review a game designed to also include coop after I select difficulty set up for coop, while playing single. All your points are basicly that you dont know the mechanics and you chose too hard difficulty and didn't change it. Why didn't you change it? You get that if it wasn't really difficult for single player then it would be really easy for coop players? Sure they could have included some kind of disclaimer but the name of the setting should do that. Were you a veteran in the game? In the end, how would I evaluate you as a player or a reviewer? Bad.
Thank you for taking the time to articulate your thoughts. I did try to make it clear that I understood that I'm assessing a single player experience in a game that truly is not designed to be single player experience and that that in itself makes the entire subject difficult to approach in the first place. In the end, I wish I could unsee my squad-mate AI, I'd not have felt compelled to make this video in the first place. Cheers and thank you once again, I hope you're well!
I'm genuinely curious, was it not clear that this is not a review of Space Marine 2 as a game in it's entirety and is in fact merely my assessment of the story mode as a single player experience? I know that's a mouthful but I did try to convey specifically that. Thank you once again, I hope you're doing well 👍
@@Brainlessentertainment it was clear, but I really feel that you didn't give the game a fair chance. It is designed for single player but for coop also and as all games like this it comes with some specifics. Having two hardest difficulties set up for coop and the two lowest for single player is one. Would the issue also be solvable by having good AI companions? Sure. They however solved it by having single player difficulties set up in a way that you can basicaly solo the game without their help. Is it a good solution? No, but not so bad that you should not recommend the game based upon that. Not understanding this or not switching the difficulties seems intentional to me. Hence, the lack of fairness. Let me ask you this. Why didn't you switch to lower difficulty? Veteran is doable solo, but you really have to understand things like regaining armor through gun strikes and stuff like that.
@@vojtam5063 Hello again and thank you for the thoughtful response. I apologize again if this was also unclear but I did complete the game twice solo. As you've gathered I started on Veteran, after I became frustrated I put the game down for the rest of that day. I came back the next day and completed the game on easy difficulty and then again immediately afterwards on Veteran difficulty. I do understand that the game is inherently designed to accommodate cooperative play and that the AI is mostly there to allow for solo play for those that prefer to play alone or for other reasons are unable to play with friends or acquaintances. I do absolutely see the inspiration from other such games in the genre and I do think that Space Marine 2 is an 'improved' experience over similar such games. I have to admit to a personal frustrations that games in this genre, though iterative improvements, do not aspire to be much more in terms of their single player experiences. Thank you once again for your thoughtful interactions, I very much appreciate it. Cheers!
You are literally in the minority you bozo
Brainless indeed. This is my first WH40000 game, solo only and having absolute blast. Sure, there are few minor scratches that could do with bit of polishing, but overally it's a fantastic game.
Glad that you're having a great time with it. Cheers
If you’re frustrated with this game on veteran mode than it’s just a skill issue. I agree the AI sucks but damn man how did you not have fun with this game. Sorry there’s no micro transactions to instantly boost you up in this game :( maybe you just need to git gud
Exactly right these guys are just a bunch of fucktards, the game is better off without them.
I'm sure I made my point very poorly. To clarify the AI is far and away my main issue with the game. After i quit trying to record my playthrough I blazed through the game on Easy and then again on Veteran in the same day. The second time was much easier simply because I already knew everything that was going to happen and how to circumvent the poor AI. Thanks for the comment, cheers.
@@Brainlessentertainment the good news is they’ve addressed the AI problem and do plan to fix it. It’s really nice to actually have devs who care about the game with no agenda other then fun. Hopefully this game can prove to other studios that you don’t need all the bs they put into games now to squeeze every $ outta you
@@robertdut7730 That is indeed fantastic news. I see that issues with the AI is the second thing mentioned from the community Q&A posted on steam from last Wednesday, September 18th. They mention other specific tweaks as well, all of which sounds very good. Thank you for sharing this, I was unaware of it and have only looked into it after seeing your comment here. Cheers, I hope you're doing well!
I'm saying this as matter of factly as possible, with 0 bad intentions. As you've questioned once in the video ("is it a skill issue"), as to why sometimes everything goes right and other times you get rekt, it absolutely is a skill issue. Your problem stems from your expectation of what Veteran difficulty should be apart from what it really is. Veteran is fucking hard if you're not, well, a veteran. Think Witcher 3 Deathmarch but harder. If you had 20-40h+ in the you'd be blowing away most of your encounters.
That's fair, though far and away my biggest issue as I see it is the squadmate AI as it relates the design of encounters. If such encounters were designed as purely single player encounters those issues would be far more simplified. Thank you for taking the time!
The rat section was worst in single player. I had to shoot the pyroblaster while keeping off ravener and 2 zooanthropes which the bots completely ignore. I think you wasted your money paying for this game. It does not work cooperatively even with human teammates when they accidentely steal glory kills. I got the game for free and playing offline only.
Easy mission even on Angel of Death solo. Use Krak grenades on Zoanthropes, insta-glory kill state.
@@inixi8ocelot yea its easy but not cooperative, so what is the point of the game.
@@matsumototatsuo the campaign is just a tutorial. The meat is in Operations PvE and PvP
@@inixi8ocelot both are worse than the campaign, if you paid money for this game, then idk what to say. lol
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! If I were a better person I would go back to record the most egregious parts of the game to show exactly what the AI are doing in those moments. Frankly I'm just not that good of a person at the moment. Thanks for the discussion!
Terrible take. 20 subscribers. Shocking.
you have to start somewhere 😵💫
Ouch, ngl, my feelings were hurt for a bit. Thanks for the feedback have a wonderful day.
the game play is fine and fun and the story isnt bad. but i agree with you the AI is there only to revive me and nothing else. I also have issues with the cooperative missions they are very grindy to a point that its not that fun. I hope you make a video about that as well
It sounds like my position isn't entirely unfounded; there's something wrong here that's not easy to separate from all of the good and nor is it easily described. I intended to cover all aspects of the game initially and that's still a possibility but unfortunately, it's pretty far down on my list of priorities at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers and good gaming!
