As a long time ultra runner I have spent many hours enjoying Ultra Running videos on UA-cam, I decided to begin making my own content when I attempted researching the Cruel Jewel 100 and found there were not very many videos available.
Since then I have been working hard learning how to create better videos and more enjoyable content for other Ultra Runners just like me. There are running documentaries I have watched 10 times on UA-cam, so if other people are like me, we clearly need more content available!
I have always enjoyed looking at the funny side of life, so in addition to filming and uploading my running mis-adventures I enjoy creating some videos aimed at looking at the lighter side of things, hope you enjoy!
And as always.... Do Something Epic!

Pacific Northwest Ultra Running at its finest! Well...muddiest at least... This was the 2020 Orcas Island 100 miler, a shit show through and through - people were being pulled for hypothermia at 35 miles, there was an epic storm through the night with fog, wind and sideways rain and trees falling all around us while we struggled to see where to even take the next step, in short it was epic. New subscriber, because of your dreams lol 😂🙌🏼 great content friend 👏🏼
Great breakdown!!! This will be my first Leadville and this vid was awesome
the intro is pure gold!
Are you still filming?
At least we have those views....
All the fog anybody could ever want...
I'm heading there next month, hoping for it to dry out a bit before then! Did you ever end up making it back for another attempt?@@ultratrailblazers5806
Trekking poles or not? I see people either way
I always take poles on 100s, the climbs are just top hard otherwise
8:25 has about as good of an explanation of the love of ultrarunning as I've heard. Well done and congratulations on the excellent race!
You were seeing Skylink.
Loved the video. I’m debating signing up for this race so it was fun to watch and see what the course was like
Well, you only die once! or...over and over... but enjoy those quesadillas!
@@ultratrailblazers5806 last year was my first year ever running an ultra. Crazy Mountain 100, and Teanaway Country 100. DNF’ed both so I totally understand dying again and again while eating quesadillas 😂😂
@@dannybrigman yaaaa... starting with a Teanaway is gonna be a no go for most people lol, thats graduate level shit
@@ultratrailblazers5806 😂😂 CM100 was significantly harder than Teanaway. For Teanaway I was too eager on the downhills and blew up my shins. I made it to mile 76, still an hour ahead of the cutoff but I had to drop because my shin muscles were toast
@@dannybrigman What!? I gotta go look up cm 100, holy cow
I was laughing my ass off. Been there. Also: the part about your pacer -- after you tell your pacer to wake you up in 15 minutes, you realize you have no pacer, you've been talking to yourself for the last 2 hours.
Oh lord hahaha, I think I forgot about these videos.. thanks for watching! They made me laugh which I think was the whole point
Congrats, great effort, agree 100% on meditation and ultra being so much more than a foot race.
Great video! Sorry y'all ran out of time. Glad to see you're signed up for more suffering this October though shouldn't be anywhere near as wet, muddy and cold... but who knows it's Orcas. The buckle is waiting... PS I think we should rename Camp Moran to Camp Moron. :)
Hey, October sure didn't work out, I had ACL surgery, but I'm signed BACK up lol. I think will be my 4th time signed up, let's see if I can actually take a buckle off your hands
Awesome course! Thanks for letting me join along with you via the video!!!
Right on, thanks man!
I was wondering when your next video was going to be ;-) Beautiful course! Well done on the race!!!
Thanks! Ya, super beautiful but insane and tough
Thank you thank you for a true honest journal of an ultra .. you are amazing
Thank you!
I love your videos they are funny as f***. These are my favourite ultra running films I wish more people knew about them. Keep going mate. Cheers!
That's so awesome to hear!! I have such a great time out there in the woods, coming up with ideas and making myself laugh, if anyone else likes them it's like a huge bonus lol
An umbrella! Ha. That’s awesome and hilarious. Thanks for posting and nice work!
when in "rome"... lol
Hey congrats on the WS Grand Slam!!! That's amazing! Plain 100 sounds very daunting TBH - you made it look easy! I'm thinking about doing that slam too some day - maybe next year. Is Cascade the only lottery race of them? And do you know if they save spots for grand slammer? Getting into the races is by far the biggest challenge for the "normal" grand slam (WS100 is impossible, Leadville unlikely, Vermont maybe 30-50%, and Wasatch they save you a spot if you're in the others)...
Dude, totally! Its so hard to just get into the og slam, but if you get into WS 100, you can buy your way into leadville, get into either Vermont or OD no problem and then wasatch will let you in.. I plan to try it whatever year I get into WS (god save me from my wife's reaction), my problem is just leadville has popped my lung twice.. and ya, you get into Cascade and your good (except for the whole running the races part lol)
@@ultratrailblazers5806 If you miraculously get in WS, you don't need Leadville. OD and Wasatch will automatically grant you a spot - all you need in Vermont. I'd love to go that route, but I'll be going through Leadville again this year.
Really appreciate these videos! Congrats on the Slam! Provided me with nice motivation and entertainment while on the treadmill. Well done!
That's really kind of you, appreciate your support!
What a huge accomplishment and congrats! Finishing Plain 100 mile and WA Grand Slam. Significant feat to say the least.
Dude thank you, I know you're out there giving it your all too, keep it up!
Congrats! Love your videos. Very authentic and from the heart.
Thanks! And, ya know, I started out like, I'll make videos and have a successful youtube channel!! And after a couple years and only a few hundred subs, I really started just enjoying capturing my experience and being real and not worried about being popular, as dumb as that almost sounds lol
Huge congratulations! Very inspiring and love the raw emotion that you express because ultras bring all the feels!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
That intro deserves a short film Oscar
Aahahahaha, I mean, it killed me dead and that's all that counts right? I was walking through the woods in the middle of the night at mile 70 just cracking myself up
Congratulation! I'm registered for the Plain 100k in 2022 and your video is very useful at showing some of the trail condition. And kudos on doing Baker Lake 50k afterward! You are a stud (and where the heck was Matt!)
Right!? He didnt register for the grand slam so he decided to call it good with badger and lumberjack, I think lumberjack might have scarred him a little lol
I'm registered for the 100K as well! Good luck!
Congrats man! Super happy for you! Makes me want to give it a shot…inspiring.
Thank you! Much appreciated, and go for it!
Awesome job. Plain always sounds like a beast
And it definitely is!
Awesomeness 🏃♀️
I need to know more about your caffiene strategy!
hilarious!!!!!!
Good job man, this is Chris from the beginning of your video. I dropped at mile 60 just after hyak. Definitely got my ass handed to me. But I’ll be back to conquer that course. Learned a lot. Great job again and sick video.
Dude I wondered how it went for you!! It was your first right? 100s are more difficult than you expect at first.. it truly is a mental game, you cant let the negative thoughts creep in and crack you! You applying again?
LOL! Hilarious intro! About time we got another video from you ;-) "I've been in some dark places" (shows video of dark tunnel) - I see what you did there! Watched all 27 minutes of this. Congratulations on the race!
Bro, thank you so much! really appreciate that!
Kudos on the effort in those conditions! I've covered all those trails at one point or another, and you didn't complain nearly enough about the mud or lack of traction.
LOL, you shouldve seen it... one section of the route that goes through the swamp at the end was under construction, but we didnt know how else to get to the finish, so we tried to go through it and fell into mud several feet deep
Congratulations on your finish! And thank you for reading my book (Welcome Back to Easton) - I hope it was helpful in your race preparation. Hope to see you in Easton again in the future!
I read it twice lol
Great video. My brother-in-law and I hung with your wife in Hyak for a while waiting for our runners (mine literally wrote the book on this race). Paced from Hyak to Mineral Creek overnight so it was awesome to see the sections I didn't pace. Congrats on the grand slam!
Thank you it was a beast!
Awesome video and race! This one crushed me, DNF'd in 2019. I know those trails well and you did great! Good luck in Plain!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Wat to go dude!!
Do you make the song lyrics up? Lol
Yea while I was running it came to me
Omg the start cracked me up laughing during my treadmill run 😂😂
That's awesome! I recorded all those at like 2 or 3 am running down this road at cascade, made me laugh, but I was a little worried it would offend someone, but I thought what the hell
WOW!!! You are My Hero! Love you, Mom
Always a bummer when a race gets cancelled. Smoke/fire, covid, weather... sometimes the odds seemed stacked against mountain ultras in western North America. Here's to 2021 ! If it gets cancelled this time within a few hours I'll be chilling at my airbnb in the hot tub with a cold beer! Give it a few years of completion , it will be a regional classic. the RD is dedicated. In light of recent deaths in the sport I understand the call completely. Also the entrance requirements are completion of a 50 mile trail race- pretty minimal for a 100 mile/30,000' wilderness route in the Cascades, could be cause for some worry.
I couldn't agree more, initially I was pretty upset, but after having some time and space to gain perspective I think it was the right thing. While I tend to be highly self reliant I've noticed there are a decent number of people who are not carrying an extra light, a water filter, a decent coat...you know, things you might want if you're stuck in the woods in a pinch.. And I think you're spot on, in a few years TC100 is going to a NW classic
You had with the Hot For Teacher drum intro! Nice
Awesome, what ever it takes, and as the founders said a commitment, congrats I am in awe.
Easily the cheesiest aid station I’ve ever heard of.
will it be cleaned up before the run?
I took it easy until Power line inbound. Then I passed a ton of people. Crashed hard between Tabor and the finish, but pull it back together before the finish. Good luck everyone.
Incredible performance under grueling circumstances. Most would have quit facing the challenge you were presented after losing the meds. Great job. Way to push through!
Thanks! Man...when I saw the gel hit the ground and knew that was the meds pocket my heart sank, and then I reached back and the pocket was empty, and I looked around behind me, and thought welp that's gonna bite me later.. lol, what can you do though!? Just keep on moving
Congratulations on completing such a tough race!!
Thanks appreciate you!!
Awesome job! Thanks for sharing the video too (keep them coming!)
Thanks, appreciate the support!
Just found your videos. Totally enjoy them. Love the sense of humor! If you saw what I think you saw it was Elon Musk’s Starlink. It’s very cool.
Thank you! and ya...that's what people keep saying...'mike, it's not aliens...stop talking to yourself...'
I think there is still time to register for Teanaway county 100... just saying.
I suppose there's still time to poke myself in the eye with a stick, or sit on a pile of tacks, or saw my own arm off with a butter knife, or rub vinegar in my eyes, or, or....
