Our home base in Surigao
We built this house back in 2018 and then continued to work on it and improve on it for the next 3 years. Overall I spent only P1M = $20K. It is up in the mountain and is somewhat secluded and isolated from the city. We don't stay here all the time but if the SHTF it will be our bug-out place to go to hunker down. It's a small 3 room house with a nice CR (bathroom) and small sala (living room) and kitchen area. Very comfortable for the 2 of us. We have electric and water and also a fish-pond and extra land for planting our own food.

Apartment in Dumaguete Sep. 2024 (Life in the Philippines)
Переглядів 21421 день тому
In this video I just give a quick view of my current apartment while living here in Dumaguete. It's a nice place and we stayed here before. We're back for about 6 months this time. As stated in the video our base rent is P18K so at 1$=P56 that's about $320 then when you add in internet and electric and water it comes to be about $400 all in. We are near to shopping, a mall, the ocean, and sever...
Washing Clothes in the Philippines

In Aklan I learned first hand how to wash the clothes the Filipino way. This is a boring video mostly if actually watch all 15 minutes of it but this is the normal and common way many do the laundry here in the Philippines.
Where I'm Living in the PH Pt 2
Переглядів 319 років тому
This is a combination of 2 videos, the first is when we first took the place but after showing the main bedroom my camera ran out of memory and stopped recording but I didn't know that at the time until I watched it. The second video was made after we have been in there for 1.5 months so we are a bit more settled. Still making improvements though. Rent here is P5500 = $125 per month plus water/...

This is a short video showing the place I was living at when I first arrived here in the PH for about 1 month. We did take some traveling adventure to Aklan while staying here. Then Wheng and I took our own apartment in the same complex. Watch for Pt.2 to see our new place

Philippino Public Market in Tagbilaran
Переглядів 61610 років тому
Many people, including myself, have been shopping at these public markets, you can get all kinds of fruits and vegetables and fish and chicken and sauces and seasonings and even some packaged products and the prices are often less then what you would pay in the Super Market which is located in the Mall. Here, after getting most of our stuff in the public market we went over the to Mall for a fe...
CR + Laundry in PH
Переглядів 10010 років тому
This video combines 2 short clips about life in the Philippines that most westerners are probably unaware of. In the PH the restroom is called the CR and practically no body has a washer/dryer for doing laundry. P.S. I have been in much less civilized CR during my stay here in the PH.
CR = Comfort Room = Bathroom in the Philippines

Going to the bathroom in the PH is not quite like going to the bathroom in the US. I have also experienced far less civilized CR while here in the PH. Also men peeing just about anywhere is common place here in the PH.

Where are you? What apartment is that? I'm from Philippines but those are common to low rent apartments or the not so rich people. There are always better and cost-wise apartments in the PH. :)

***** Very interesting lulu Mahalo, yea i honestly dont want to talk anything bad about Filipinos or their culture,is just that all this thing about what to do in the bathroom or CR as they call it there seems very shocking to me. I was raised in New York city and honestly as you said the The old american outhouse dont seem too bad after all haha....but thanks alot for your info lulu i learned lots from it.( And what you said about Rio and Vietnam...amazing hehe)

+Juan Fuentes At least they clean their asses with soap and water ...not just Toilet paper.. with all that shit. Where your family originally from Juan?

+mel drogo I was not born here Mel,i actually arrived to New York with my family when i was 3 years old...I'm Salvadorean, but i can speak better english than spanish hehe. I understand your point but i just dont see any purpose at all to why use water buckets, hoses,or scoopers to clean your ass after you take a dump, the ass should be washed and cleaned when people shower which is once or twice per day as most average people do.I find it extremely gross to use any toilet or bathroom with buckets, scoopers and hoses laying around with potential water splashes with shit residue on the toilet seat, walls or floor....extremely gross. Sure toilet paper with shit stains or residue laying on the floor is not any cleaner or sanitary but at least you can see it and you can try to avoid it....just not for me.

+Juan Fuentes I have to agree with you, after visiting Cebu I just can't understand the CR area. It appears to be a very unsanitary place. Coupled with a high humility and water all over the place because bathing covers the whole area with water, it just seams so yucky just walking in a CR and a open toilet with piss and crap in it and the floor is all wet would be so bacteria filled. I like the PH and the people but won't tolerate that filth in any place I will rent even if I have change the CR room. A simple separate shower stall(hanging curtain with cemented bricks on the bottom) and a working toilet that flushes is all it takes. Around $100d with labor. they have that much for other household things, I don't see why they won't spend that for something that can last decades with little maintenance.

+safffff1000 Yes you said it perfectly Saff. Honestly is quite a mystery to me to why these people would go through this process....its beyond me.
